Hi there :) A friend of mine which is very skilled with electronic music recommended this forum to me. Anyway, I have made metal covers of 2 songs, and I would love to get some feedback, especially on the sound, should I mix it different, does my microphone capture all the necessary frequencies? Etc.

First, Song of Healing from Zelda, Majora's Mask:

And a cover of Cheza's Song, from the anime Wolf's Rain. I am more satisfied with the sound on this one. Even though that cold guitar tone on the Zelda song had it's charm I think, hehe! Anyway:

Any opinions, on the sound, playing, etc? :) Thanks in advance!!

it's hard to judge because of youtube's poor quality. if you're looking for production feedback, i'd recommend uploading your mp3's to a host such as tindeck and linking us to those instead.

Thanks for the tip, I did :)

I've been too lazy about getting everything tight, that's clear as day, and I will better myself on that.

Regarding the sound, I think Song of Healing has a very sharp sound, but I think Cheza's Song has a good sound, especially considering that my guitar amp is just a really cheap 10 watt amp.

Do you think my microphone captures all the frequencies? Some people have said it doesn't, because it's too cheap. I don't think the sound sounds unfull though? I don't know... Any opinions?

the fade-in on song of healing threw me off at first, i was like 'this is REALLY quiet!' XD

the eq makes everything sound pretty dry - the high frequencies on the lead guitar are pretty piercing at full volume. the bass and kick are weak and don't really support the low end of the mix. cheza's song sounds much more balanced, though the growls/ambiance that come in about halfway through are pretty buried and make it sounds muddy - maybe bring those forward a bit.

and yeah, a better mic would probably help. i don't know anything about recording audio though :P

hope this helps!
