danlei
Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and new to the whole remixing. I've been slowly trying to learn how to make songs with computer and this WIP song is one of the songs I've put together during the process. Since I'm new to this whole composing business, I'd like to get some hardcore feedback on what to improve. Positive feedback is also welcome if deserved. It's the Hymn of the Fayth from Final Fantasy X. I got inspired by the melody and thought I'd make my own version of it, adding more instruments to it and stuff. You can listen the song here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5912277/raakile.mp3 Thank you in advance for your feedback! -Daniel PS. danlei
I edited the original source to the first post if you're interested Thanks a lot from the advices! I agree with you on the "taking the mix to the next level". The song needs something to make it stronger and more dynamic. I'll try if my brass samples are worth using. How is the quality of my current samples in the song btw?
M249-M4A1
I agree with what J3 said, the violin sounds like it's coming from backstage, or through a radio. After the intro, add another string section, or a full string section to play the theme, it would sound, in my opinion, strong and epic and would probably make me cry. I absolutely cried when I heard this again in the FFX ending. Bass drum velocity could also get an overhaul. I think it would song great if it slowly hit harder each time. The overall song seems to be playing at the same energy level and needs that OMGWTF/attention grabbing part. I would've done that, and then repeat except with different instruments. You don't have to do that but that's just what I'd do. After all, it seems like you only have 3 or 4 instruments (something playing behind the piano? )
danlei
Thank you both! I agree that the song need a "OMGWTF" part as you said it I'll add more percussion to the song and try to play with the velocity and add some more instruments. I hope it'll work out ok I'll make it my goal to make you cry when you hear the song finished ;D
