seagaia Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hi all, I made this piece for Project VGM, a collaboration by some folks here and elsewhere. It's the first time I've made something using tracking in a DAW, I used Reaper and some free soundfonts. Thus I was hoping for some criticism/feedback on my technique, since I'm quite new to mixing and all that. Thanks! You can hear the song here: http://soundcloud.com/seagaia/project-vgm-77-mustle-seagaia I was trying to create a calm, mysterious, sleepy feel (I imagined a hazy forest village in the treetops, hidden from time). I thought the piece ended up a little muffled. Quote
Dissidia Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 The composition is nice. I think a new section should come in at 1:00 instead of adding elements. I don't mind the soundfonts too much as it adds that old rpg flavor. The panning string part takes up too big part of the song. 1:28 part could be repeated once more as it feels too short before going to the next part. Quote
Modus Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This is atmospherically really nice. It sounds oddly familiar too.. similar to some Skies of Arcadia dungeon. I agree about it being too muffled though. The strings need separated from the rest. Cool work though. Following you on Soundcloud. Quote
