Spi.der.men Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 What is the general thought on sneaking a line or two from other remixers' takes on songs? For example I'm working on a Lava Reef remix, and listening back to it, I have a lot of elements from Xenon Odyssey's take on the same song from Project Chaos. I listened to that song a lot back when I was in middle school to the point where I associate his changes to the background riff to being the original version. To the veteran remixers, how would you feel hearing something you composed in a newer remixers song? Does that get to close to the line, or is it welcomed? Quote
avaris Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Would be an honor as long as you credit them in them in the write-up: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02380/ Quote
timaeus222 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 People do this a lot, actually. It's fine. I mean, if WillRock did this track which has a very obvious reference in sound design, structure, AND title to Final Countdown, I'm pretty sure others reference some remixers too. Influenced remixes are great. Quote
