It's my first piece of serious game audio. It's for a roguelike 8bit style horizontal scrolling space shooter, so this will be the main tune throughout the game apart from on the bosses. I didn't want the music to sound too 8bit, more modern but with 8bit style elements.

Just let me know about how i've done so far with overall composition, mixing, levels etc. Thanks.

Very lush and well written, the interlude is particulaly lush and it flows seamlessly. Level-wise, it's pretty well mixed: There's clarity between each melody and you've used effects decisively, without going overboard, though you might want to consider banging on a little bit of predelay on the lead's reverb. Just a suggestion - It may be too "spacey" but it might sound good.

The only thing I can flaw is your choice of drum samples, but that's down to personal preference and shouldn't really be taken too heart.

All in all, a great piece and I look forward to hearing the final piece. Kudos!

Thanks for the kind words :D The drums are samples from a Megadrive collection if i remember correctly. I wanted them to sound retro, however they are bugging me a little also. I just don't really know what to do with them.
