jobro
When it comes to NES music then FamiTracker is your best friend. Nothing comes closer to the NES sound on PC, trust me.
Tensei
Still looking for NES-percussion? Cause this is pretty much the most awesome .NSF file I've ever heard, and it's from a certain totally overlooked NES-game. http://rapidshare.com/files/41909506/SILVERSU.NSF.html some kick-ass source material for remixing, if I may say so. =P
SnappleMan
I use MML for all my nsf creations. It's a bit difficult to get into, but it's the best and most accurate. Whoever said that a soundfont emulates the square wave exactly is a dildo. Also, with MML you can create your own DPCM out of any sample you want. I see no reason for using anything else if you're going to authenticity.
