Virtual QSO
Hey, this is my first attempt at a remix that I intend to publish, so I was looking to get some good feedback. I'm especially wondering if any of my sound selection or design needs tweaking. Robo Yard Edited June 8, 2022 by Virtual QSO
Virtual QSO
I got some expert feedback and made some adjustments, think it's ready for review now. timaeus222
Alright, here's my honest feedback. Feel free to ask about anything you are unfamiliar with. I'm just going to bold something if it's important, but read it through. -beginning of mod review- PRODUCTION It seems like it has little to no mixing (no EQ, no external reverb, no external delay?). The instruments sound like they are placed into the song raw, basically (whether it is true or not, this is how it sounds to me). Every velocity (note intensity) is the same, so the notes sound mechanical/robotic. Even a little bit of variation in that regard would make the instruments sound less stiff, more realistic/human, and more exciting. ARRANGEMENT This is very close to the source tune (the original song). It may be a good thing that I can recognize it, but because it is so similar, it doesn't demonstrate how original you could have been. The structure is also like a loop - there is no ending, and it feels like it was only made to be placed into a game, if you know what I mean. --- In short, I can guarantee this is not ready to be published to OCR, if that was your goal at this time, because it is (1) too similar to the original (nearly a MIDI rip), (2) has little to no mixing involved, (3) has an incomplete, loop structure, and (4) has extremely even velocities, making the instruments sounding mechanical/robotic. If you want to publish it independently on YouTube, let's say, you can, but it simply does not meet the standards. I highly recommend you check out some of these ReMixes that were previously accepted to the site if you want to have an idea of what you want to be your goal. -end of mod review- Edited June 20, 2022 by timaeus222

timaeus222
[This is an automatically generated message] I've reviewed your remix and have returned it to Work-in-Progress status, indicating that I think there are some things you still need to work on. After you work on your track and feel that it's ready for submission to OCR, please change the prefix back to Ready for Review and someone will review it again. Good luck!
