Rivek
Posted this months and months ago as a terrible WIP, improved a lot of things and I think this new version is just about ready to go. Opinions appreciated. ...and yeah... it's /another/ IceCap mix. XD. Sorry. I'll be more original in the future. http://rivekthefallen.googlepages.com/GlacierRide.mp3
ella guro
Some of your samples definitely need to be improved. The drums are fine, if a little plain sounding and quiet, but the bass in the beginning could use more low end for a beefier sound. The lead at :42 also has this weird kind of resonance that bleeds over the whole mix and doesn't really work as a guitar sample. You really should find a lighter sound that emphasizes more high end and bring out drums more. There also really should be more going on at :42. Everyone's heard the melody a billion times, so it sounds a lot more interesting if there's more stuff like a counter-melody and a bassline going on. The synth that's added later is something, but you definitely need more. Also, and this is probably the most important thing, consider where you want to go with the arrangement. Right now it doesn't do much of anything - it kind of states it's case and then leaves. You want to find some new way of looking at a melody like icecap that's been done a billion times so you can make it interesting. The main thing is to flesh out the arrangement more and put your own spin on it. Don't be afraid to take it into your own territory as long as it's related and the theme is there. Anyway, sorry I'm getting a little vague with advice but I think you could definitely get a pretty cool result if you were more detailed and adventurous with the arrangement.
