DJ Novalon
Greetings everyone, I am a longtime lurker/listener, but a first time poster. Earlier today, I decided I was going to remix this particular piece, mainly because it is one of my favorite video game songs. In the course of writing the tune, it took an unexpected turn when I happened across my NES soundfont, and suddenly I was clicking as fast as I could to get the notes down as fast as my brain could process them. It may sound egotistical, but I really can't stop listening to this, and I humbly submit it to you to see if it is of the caliber to be on this site. I wait with bated breath for your worthwhile comments, and I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed remixing it. http://vanloone.googlepages.com/EternityofLightNESRemix.mp3 I originally had it as "Eternity of Light (NES Remix).mp3" but it looks like google pages did not save the formatting. Whatever the case, download away!
Dhsu
You've got a decent arrangement here, but according to the site submission standards... Even if you submit the most ingenious reworking of a game theme ever, with sequencing and programming and chord progression all highly refined, if it clearly sounds like a default FruityLoops demo, chiptune, or General MIDI playback, your submission will not be accepted. Which is too bad, but that's what djp decided. I recommend submitting this to Remix:ThaSauce.
DJ Novalon
I must not have caught that part. I must have been thinking of some other website or some such that allowed these kind of remixes. Oh well, thanks for the redirection though, I appreciate it. Of course, I would still appreciate any comments to be had.
avaris
Yeah this is def a good arrangement. The flow from section to section is spot on. There is too much sustain on the high notes on the melody IMO. It creates a wall o' sound. If you are wanting to keep a similar feel with the chiptunish sounding soundscape then these remixes might be good examples to go by: http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01485/ http://www.ocremix.org/remixer/shnabubula/?&offset=0&limit=0&sort=dateasc http://ocremix.dreamhosters.com/songs/Final_Fantasy_5_Dark_Butz_OC_ReMix.mp3 http://ocremix.dreamhosters.com/songs/Mega_Man_2_Too_Hot_For_Heatman_OC_ReMix.mp3 Basically everything by Shnabubula and AeroZ. Your arrangement is good but there are lots of lil things missing that set the good lo-fi jams apart from the memorable ones. Go for some expansion on the melody, really get it moving up and down the scale. Some more drum fills etc...
