  1. This blew my mind when I first heard it last year! I can't get enough of Lucas' arrangements and mashups. This one is like it comes straight from an alternate dimension where Damon Albarn was also a Metroid and Castlevania fan. Definitely one of my favorite tracks of the year.
  2. One of my favorites from the album, hands down! For a medley, I think the sources get good mileage and the transitions are nice. Loved it!
  3. Saying this is one of my favorite tracks from the FFVIII album is high praise, given the amount of talent on display there. It's such a fun take on a classic, very different and somehow even more catchy! The world needs more Shuffle or Boogie, so thank you for this!
  4. Wow, those lyrics make all the difference! This version is like no other, although it reminds me of the Outset Initiative's work with other games. Great take on a classic source, with amazing vocals.
  5. PurpleSchala's playing is just superb, and reading the writeup for this track just proves that. Such a nuanced performance, can't believe she learned it in a day! I would love to hear more from this duo of arranger + pianist, and also more BioShock in OCR. For now, this will do. Incredible!
  6. I love Rebecca's work! And I'm ashamed that this is my first review for one of her tracks. She really has a well established style of arranging, and her source choices always go hand in hand with that ethereal orchestration. This is no exception, amazing!
  7. Some of the instrument choices for this reminded me of Grant Kirkhope's work, so not something I'd expect from Dark Souls at all! Still, the choir and strings keep it somewhat dark and epic. Great piece!
  8. I understand why I hadn't heard about this remix (or this game, for that matter), but what a banger it is! Such a variety of styles in display, very proggy and inspiring. Amazing and obscure remix!
  9. Wow, more people need to cover Line Defense! This really takes you to outer space with how epic, quirky and alien it sounds. When the EDM beat kicks in it's just pure bliss!
  10. I'm not familiar with the source, but it makes me wonder if the original sounds as good as this! Really enticing orchestration and the piano at the end is the cherry on top. Loved it!
  11. It's great to hear such a lengthy piano solo track, and this is a great source for it. Great performance and arrangement, really heartfelt.
  12. Amazing! I wasn't aware of the Mirror's Edge representation in OCR. This is such a treat, and it does the soundtrack justice with a contemplative arrangement. Thank you for covering one of my favorite games!
  13. I love Chimpazilla's more upbeat remixes, but this definitely scratches that ambient (almost trip-hopey) itch. The duo's idiosyncrasies really integrate seamlessly every time, and this track in particular sounds very natural in the way all the different layers interact and progress. It's one of those where I could have easily enjoyed another 2 or 3 minutes of ambiance, but cutting it to 4 minutes seems like the sensible thing to do. Loved it!
  14. Loved it to bits! What a great way to kick off the new year.
  15. I wasn't into Streets of Rage back in 2003, so that's probably why I missed this back then. Glad I joined the Review Bomb event and found so many gems (this one included). This really takes me back to the early 00's from all the samples or libraries Gecko used. Amazing and nostalgic stuff!
