Didn't we just post all these folks?? I feel like we've done this dance before... :-D

For our third year in a row, HAPPY BIRFDAY to Lucas Guimaraes as well as twin judges Pixels & Paradiddles! This year, we've got a track featuring ALL 3 birthday boys, and it's from Persona 3! But for September 8th and ReMix #4888, there's no more serendipitous way to celebrate than the debut of DoD-gold-medal-winning supergroup The Crazy 8ths! How are they a supergroup? Just add ZackParrish to the mix, and these acoustic assassins had a 141 2/3% chance of winning Dwelling of Duels' Megaten Month! ;-)

I think Lucas subbed this right after some celebratory weed or drinks for winning DoD that month, because he clearly forgot where he was at:

"hi everybody this is my first post on oc remix did i do it right."

/stares... :-\

Fellow judge and DoD stalwart jnWake competed against this first place piece and got... [/checks DoD]... second place. Welp... nothing like professional jealousy!:

"Ah, this track... I'm very familiar with it and totally not salty.

Anyway, this begins with some acoustic noodling to set the mood. At 0:40 we start getting source material, with the transformation of the intro into an acoustic jam. Main melody strikes at 1:05 on an acoustic duet. [...] Around 1:30 we get a small break that adds strings into the mix. Love the percussion fill at 1:54 as we reach the second main melody. I really like how it's played with a ton of repeated notes, adds a ton of character. After this we repeat 0:40 and then an extended version of 1:30. At 3:40 we move into a closing guitar solo [...]

On arrangement, this is pretty cool. You did a great job adapting an iconic and dramatic source into the "flamenco" acoustic style. As far as I could tell melody and harmony treatment was fairly conservative but the whole genre shift is enough personalization to pass OCR's criteria on my book.

On production this is great, particularly the quality of the acoustic recording. [...] Overall, a top notch adaption of a classic VGM track. Easy pass!"

Wake had the chance to do the funniest thing, i.e. "Meh. I should have won. NO", but we respect him for not giving into his baser instincts. :-D Meanwhile, prophetik music was less salty, admiring the textures and energy of the Crazy 8ths and giving 'em kudos for creatively tackling a lengthier theme:

"this is a fun ride! the simplicity of the instrumentation really shines out here and allows the performances to be the main focus. [...] overall this is a really enjoyable take. i particularly liked the way you were able to use several different sections from an original that is pretty long and has a lot of variance between sections. nice work."

Once again, we're celebrating these ReMixers birthdays, yet you could argue the present is ours thanks to this impeccably personalized Persona performance right here. I got literal chills on my arms during the final seconds. Top-tier trophy-hoisting goodness from Lucas, Zack, and the twins; The Crazy 8ths are unreal! :-)
