  1. I know an FPS that the Wii should have.

    Quake III Arena :P

Hell yes. That game was awesome on Dreamcast.

Has anyone had any issues with the pointer on the wii-mote kinda flickering or not registering correctly with the TV screen?

It flickers with me if I get too far from the TV, roughly 8-10 feet or so.

On another note, the DBZ fighting game is suprisingly fun (but also difficult) to play.

  2. Has anyone tried doing a run through with only 3 hearts? It makes the game so much more fun.

I did that with Wind Waker, but it was too much trouble, because every time I died or got close to dying, my roommates would yell at me to just pick up a "f'ing heart container". :(

Sounds insanely annoying =[ At times like that, it's time to use an analogy. Lets see.... How about "getting an extra heart is like saying you're going to win a game of chess blindfolded, and then you take the blindfold off part way through the game and leave it off."

    [Edit]

But you'll want to think of a better one...

They don't really care - they're just joking around with me. :P

A running joke around the apartment is how I wasn't "good enough" to beat the original Zelda with just three hearts - I got all the way to Ganon, but never beat him. It's kind of rough with him teleporting around all invisible-like, with his OMG I'm Gonna Take Three Hearts Automatically If I Touch You attack.

Three hearts on the original Zelda? I can finish it getting all the hearts I can but still have a tough time at some parts. I've only beaten the second quest once but I can't remember where the blue ring is so I can't finish it lately.

  3. What is up with that stone in Death Mountain near the warp point? You have to do a little climbing and then it's blocking the hallway? It looks to have the same sort of symbol that the lens of truth did back in OoT.
They're just stones blocking the way to the hot spring. The symbol on the blocks is very similar to the symbol that the japanese use to mark hot springs, just go to the spring, and you can find the backs of those stones and push them out of the way.
  4. I've been collecting the golden bugs but am currently stuck. I've got everything but 2, and they are apparently in the Sacred grove. I'm right after the 4th temple, and have gone to N. faron woods right after the spinning bridges and the tight rope stuff. I enter the sacred grove and it's like sealed off, i can't get in. I seem to remember leaving the place a different way than i came in, but don't exactly remember, also i have no warp point (maybe i missed it? wtf) I need those damn bugs!
You can't get them until either the sixth or seventh temple, I can't remember which one.
  5. Hey Calpis, since you went through 4 as well, you saw the followining dialogue...

Are you surprised by the turn of events?

Oh and how did you like the little bit of exposition showing some parts of OoT with improved graphics?

I wasn't expecting the mirror to be broken, yet once I saw it, I wasn't surprised, due to the fact that since it's a Zelda game, I needed pieces of something to collect. I was however, surprised by Ganondorf's appearance (he looks totally badass). I expected his first appearance to be later in the game, if at all. Who exactly are those guardians then? He killed one of them before they sealed him away. Either way, I'm gonna hold on storyline stuff for the next day or so. I'll go around and collect heart pieces and play all the minigames I can find.
  6. Nintendo just broke a law I think.

The amount of fun in Boss 4 is most likely illegal.

I want a boss attack mode just for that boss...

Let me tell you this: item 4 is well implemented in the boss battle, I cant explain how but it will be very well done.

    QFE, QFE, and QFE.

Just got through this dungeon and want to find more places to use this item.

On another note, I seem to remember hearing something about there being a "Hard" mode after you beat the game, but that was back at E3 this year, and I haven't heard anything about it since. Is it still true? I would love to have a go at harder versions of these bosses.

  7. This game is amazing. I'm about 14 hours into it now. Just around the point of the first entrance into Hyrule City and Lake Hylia Bridge. This game is huge.

I'm not sure what all you guys are really talking about with the controls not being great. The wiimote controls simplify so many things that just weren't possible (or barely possible) with a standard controller. I'm glad to finally be able to swing my sword while walking/running. Fishing at the first part wasn't what I expected, but I bet it gets better when you get a rod with a reel. The dungeons are great, although I have yet to be really stumped on a puzzle (I've been through two dungeons). But after that, the enemy count has gotten much higher, so I'm expecting the game to get a lot harder as well.

  8. I find it's easier to keep a strict policy of belief. Unless Nintendo says it, or many major gaming news companies say it's confirmed, I'm inclined not to believe it.

    I've been wrong before, but...

Seeing as how our good friend Masahiro Sakurai posted on his own blog that there wouldn't be a new character and such, I'm once again inclined to not believe it.

On another note, I doubt Sonic or Mega Man are going to be playable. Highly doubt it. For the record, I also do think that Zero Suit Samus is rather kickass--screw all that think otherwise.

I would have agreed with you before they announced Solid Snake being in Brawl. I know that this doesn't mean that they're gonna add in tons of new characters (Alucard pu-leeze) but in my eyes the chances of adding in another non-Nintendo character are looking better.

...or has this already been discussed here?

  9. Here's a random thought I had. They changed Link's design from the Ocarina of Time version to the Twilight Princess version right? Do you think that's what they'll be doing with, say, Ganondorf's design as well (not that we've even seen the TP Ganon yet)? I guess since the OoT and TP versions of Link aren't all that different, that it could be argued it is more of an updating rather than an entirely new design. Do you think characters like Ganon and Zelda aren't so much going to be new designs as just updated like Mario?

Ganon/Ganondorf won't be in TP. They said that this game will feature a completely new villian.

I'm wondering if they're gonna have Young/Old Link and also Cell-Shaded Link from Wind Waker. He could have some interesting moves.
  10. Only few Square characters are really appropriate for Smash Brothers, IMO.

Also, I sure hope that new songs for existing stages are part of the Connect24 thing. I get really sick of hearing the same damn songs on Melee, so I normally play with the music off. It'd be nice if they let you use your own MP3s, but I realize there's only a small to nonexistant chance of that.

  11. If anything, Nintendo just HAS to put Reggie in the game. That would be so awesome if they did that for fun.

Only if he kicks ass and takes names as a supermove.

I've honestly been thinking about the music more than any new characters. I wonder what nostalgic bit of goodness they will draw from the Kid Icarus soundtrack? What music will be played in the MGS level (if there is one)?

I hope for the Rex's lair.....maybe ON the Rex!

    Even better: Snake's supermove.

    Maybe CQC?
