  1. ReMix.exe , it has a built in search engine that scours the VGMusic database. All you do it type in the name of a game, then chose from a list of MIDIs, click ReMix and it does all the work for you.

    I freaking love that program.

Anyway, Zircon is probably right. The old Edirol VSTs like SuperQuartet and HQ orchestral have that slightly synthy Playstation 1 kind of sound. Those would be good if you don't want to deal with hardware stuff. Now choose your favorite seqencer and start writin' some music. :)

And, it would seriously help if you had some prior remixing experience. It took a while for my stuff to sound EXACTLY how I wanted it to. One thing i find that helps is listening to a lot of the type of music you wish to write. I've found that it can infuence your compositional style.

  2. Hahahha I just heard MP3s of the Sonic And Knuckles collection, they fucked up Carnival Night too!? hahaha

But one cool thing they did was add a kick ass arpeggio at the end of Final Boss, I think I'll go ahead and add that to my song as well!

The replaced songs sound so gay from the bits i've heard...

  3. Damn Kanjika. First he wimps out on Chrono Symphonic, then he's late with my song (though I was a little late on the payment...but WGAF), and now he's PMing all my remixers and shit. Ellywu2, Sleepy Emp...no doubt Unknown and Russell Cox, too. You should be ashamed.

    :roll::D

    ~.C.S.~

Yep. I PMed like 8 people from Chrono Symphonic. :) That takes care of some of the orchestral msuic we need. Anyone know some good electronica/techno ReMixers?

  4. it's the PC mega collection, because of the Michael Jacksons issues.

Grah misinformation. Programming problems was the reason, no?

I think he means the whole "Micheal Jackson really made the sonic 3 music" theory. Who knows...could be true. Ever heard the Sonic CD music? A few tracks sound like his style of music. I can almost hear him singing over those....

  5. no more suggestions? blast! I was about to suggestsome from Silent Hill, Chrono Cross and Golden Axe... :(

whatever... do you mind explaining this starred and unstarred system? first I though of them as the "important" and "discardable" bosses... but then we have the ones which are both... :whatevaa:

    how does it work, anyway?

Starred bosses are the big guys that are "locked" meaning the will be on the final list. The others are what's really being voted on. The bosses that are indented are just minibosses.

  6. Alright, it looks like the tracklist is near the right size!

I have to ask you guys though. Are there any more BIG bosses out there that are not on the list? We could add a few more, as over time we'll have to get rid of a few of these. The tracklist can't really be final until every song is done...

  7. Well, I hope there's at least one good server, so I don't have to use torrents (which i can't). Thats is because I get wireless internet from my dad who thinks he has to have like 5 virus programs, 2 software firewalls, and the firewall in the modem turned on to be safe from "computer viruses". I've disabled the firewall many times, but now he put a password on rhe settings (working on getting around that). Right now no BT for me.

  8. Well we might add a few of those tracks, but we're at the point where we need to narrow down the list. If you think something is REALLY important that we dont have, it'll be considered. The list now has 34 bosses and 8 minibosses (if I counted correctly).

maybe this was already answered, but I haven't found it:

how the remix should be done when a certain important boss have many themes, like robotnik across several sonic games? will it be a medley?

this is also an example of boss which is "normal" and "final" at the same time... how this will be dealt with?

The remixer will choose what he or she wants to do. Its not hard to fit things together. Heck, look at Sonic 2. Robotniks theme and his final boss theme are in the same key. They would it just fine. I think most people would consider the normal boss theme from the sonic games to be Robotnik's theme, since the final boss themes are only played once.

  9. Why am I not listed as claiming Dark Gaia? Oh well. I'd rather have Ganon anyway. I would like to claim Ganon's theme. I'll probably do a remix of his theme from Lttp/Oot (they're almost the same).

Sorry, can't edit someone else's post. It'll be updated later today.

Cerrax, I now have decided to include artist auditions for anyone who asks for a a track. Do you have any recent material in the style you intend to compose your track in? Doesnt have to be that long or anything, just make sure it demonstrates your best work.

  10. I'm pretty sure that Claado was joking, as a) you never fight Terra and B) he ended it with "terramixlol"

Terra's theme is one of the most popular/overdone (depending on who you ask) tracks around here. It'd be the same thing as suggesting that you fight Schala and the Ice Cap zone itself just to make it a part of this project.

Haha. I had no idea since i've only played the later final fantasy games. I'll make sure it's fixed later.

  11. Well claado said something about fighting Terra, and it ended up getting added. Dont worry, this list is still not final. Were not really adding more, we're cutting down to 15-20 or so, and making a final tracklist before anything else.

And damn i want to update the main post...i made a whole new one but im not a mod and can't edit.

  12. ed]No, I see what your saying. I just got a little excited. Arek, friends? Its good to have so much experience on this project, You guys (and girls[and, uhh... "other", if any are here]) have been a big help.

So, whats the next step to take? Would we need a go-ahead from an admin, or mod, or something? Should we go to them, or wait for them to come to us?

Well, before we go 'offical', we should probably narrow down the tracklisting and get a solid idea of what we want. No need to rush.

And people, I understand that you want YOUR most memorable boss in the game (everyone has their favorites), but that would be waaaay too much. I think we need to vote on about 20 or so of the MOST memorable bosses, ones that everyone knows. A vote would help, but if you try to appease every single person on OCR, this isn't going anywhere.

  13. also "best project"

*cough points to my project thread*

ed]All right, I was trying to be enthusiastic, way to kill a mood...

And no reason to get cocky either... "Best Project" is a title reserved by the users of OCR to decide for themsleves. Honestly, I'd rather just drop it here. I don't want to end up losing a good addition to the team by ending up getting someone mad...

Not saying anyone here has a short temper, or anything.

Your co-coordinator should inform you that you should:

Turn on your internet-sarcasm detector and chill out.

  14. ed]Epic. One little thing like that, exploded.

Well, like it or not, Dedede is going to be on the project. In fact, I'm lockin' it! Ha! No, seriously, no offense meant.

On another note (and Nineko, sorry, but theres no way Im gonna tango with DarkeSword this early in the project):

Kanjika is my Co-coordinator, and will remain so until the end of the project, or flakes out, and lets us all down. Lets hope this was a good choice.

As such, he (he, right?) will now speak, so DONT POST TILL KANJIKA DOES!

Ya know I could never post and the project will be doomed.

But i'm not mean like that. I'll do whatever i can to make sure this is a quality project.

And, no, i'm not going to flake out, I will remain with the project as long as I possibly can. As for it being a good choice, I will also make sure that it was...yes I am a he.

    That is all.
