Im actually glad. NFL 2K5 was the shiznit, and then EA bought the rights to NFL games, and since, they made absolute shit. All their games are always the same with hardly any new features and subpar graphics. This is because they have no competition, so they dont give a rats ass.

True. I don't think that people like Sm58's for their quality of sound, their not really at the top when it comes to that, but their built like a brick shit house and can take year after year of beating with almost no sound quality lost, which is why their a favorite of sound crews.

I cant say for sure. I know that most people will just use overhead condensers. Depending on the quality you want that can range from 40 dollars(something like an Apex) to 2000 dollars (neumanns)

Midis and sheet music are good for reference if your looking at being dead on to the original. Other than that, since its a remix, its good to leave it open as to how your ear interprets it, unless its dead off.

First off congratz on getting this onto OCR. When the ff7 project first got released there were a few tracks that stuck to my mind and this was one of them. The intro is really great and I like the use of ambiance. I also like how you were able to use many layers of sounds and instruments without making it sound to busy. Anyways, overall this is just a great track that is fun to listen to.

So I've been looking for acoustic guitars recently and I've come up with this...I don't know what the hell i want.
So tell me, i need some opinions on decent acoustic or acoustic/electric guitars in the range of 300-450 dollars. I know, thats cheap, but I'm cheap.
Anyways, all answers appreciated.

Generally any good instrument mic will work (sm57 or a good condenser if you have a good room to suit it). A violins frequency range is somewhere from 200 Hz - 10 kHz. Its fundamental range is from G3 to E6 so its good to use a mic thats flat in the frequencies around 300 kHz, 1 kHz and 1200 Hz.
Aside from that its all in how you set it up. You can look up some guides, but generally it should be overhead just above and pointing at the bridge (more or less). There are also some microphones you can buy that attach to the bridge and work by picking up vibrations, or somthing like that. Dont know how much those are used...

set your buffer really high, see if that fixes it.

yeh, it works but only to an extent, better for smaller stuff like cutting out some fuzz from a recording, as long as your frequency range isnt all over the charts.

I think people should really know what Protools is capable of before they pass it off. Many of you will never have to use 89% of the things it can because lets face it, your just remixing, so a program such as Cubase is perfect. But for any serious industry stuff, Pro tools is number one. It is used by almost any audio institution and most professional sound studios. It has an amazing bus system and its hardware compatibility is unbeatable.

Pro tools is still generally considered the standard. Hands down, it is the best for mastering and recording, however if your looking to create midi heavy songs its probably not going to be your first choice.

go get a bunch of old cloths and like heavy type canvas crap that piano movers/carpenters use, forget the name of it. Attach some egg cartons to one side and hang it around the room about an inch or 2 away from the wall. Gets it done...

the 58 isn't the ideal mic for studio work, as it is easily replaced by condensers or large diaphram mic's of its same price. It makes a great live vocal mic though.
