  1. Hey, MikeViper here. Eventually I would like to monetize my compositions. The problem is though, is that I use soundfonts. I know that soundfonts can use samples from various sources. So if I used these soundfonts in my music, would I run into copyright issues? If so, are there any royalty free soundfonts out there?
  2. Hey, MikeViper here. I just finished a composition called "Super Retro Racing". I would describe as something you would hear in a Saturn era Sonic game like Sonic 3D Blast or Sonic R. It was heavily inspired by the works of Richard Jacques. You can listen to it here:
  3. Hey, MikeViper here. I was feeling the Christmas mood, so I decided to make a dance remix of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. You can listen to it here: Hope you guys like it.
  4. Hey, MikeViper here. I recently composed the Boss Battle theme for a fangame called Final Fantasy Genesis. I tried to get as close to Uematsu's style as I could. You can listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/magnius/final-fantasy-genesis-boss
  5. Hey, MikeViper here. I recently composed a song that I titled "Random Action Theme". It's similar to something you maybe here in a Metal Gear Solid game or perhaps an FPS gmae. You can listen to it here:
  6. Hey, MikeViper here. Check out my new song "Space Madness". I would best describe it as something you would here on a space level in an old video game. You can listen to it here:
  7. Hey, MikeViper. I just completed a new drum and bass track called "Smooth Drummer". You can listen to it here:
  8. Hey, MikeViper here. I just completed a song called "Smooth Forest". It's an RPG Forest theme reminiscent of "Secret of the Forest" from Chrono Trigger. You can listen to it here:
  9. It's pretty good. Reminds of me of something I would hear in a JRPG or something.
  10. Hey, MikeViper here. I recently finished a song called "Fight or Dance?". I would best describe as a tune similar to what you'd here in a mid 90's 3d fighting game. You can listen to it here:
  11. Hey, MikeViper here. I wrote a new song, that sounds like something you would hear in a Japanese visual novel. It was very inspired by the music of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Clannad. You can listen to it here:
  12. Hey, Young Prodigy here. I recently composed a new SNES-style battle theme. This time it's in the style of Kenji Ito, the guy who did the music for Romancing Saga. You can listen to it at the link below: I hope you like it!
  13. Hey, MikeViper here. I just finished composing a retro SNES-style battle theme, using samples from FF5. When writing it, I tried to emulate the style of Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy battle themes. You can check it out here:
  14. Hey, MikeViper here with a new song. This one is called Retro Beach Party... It's reminiscent of the music you would hear in Sonic R or something. You can listen to it at the link below:
  15. Well basically an FM Synth with an arpeggiator that can do simple arpeggios, nothing too complex. But a stand-alone midi arpeggiator could work too.
  16. Well, I'm more looking for something with an arpeggiator I guess. Or a synth VST that has arpeggiator presets.
  17. Hey, MikeViper here. I've been using the Sytrus demo and it's pretty good. But demo has one very annoying limitation, every once in while there will be white noise. So are there any free programs like Sytrus? What I mean by that is, is are there any good free VST's with built-in arpeggiator presets like Sytrus?
  18. Hey, MikeViper here. It's been a while since I posted a new song. But I recently came up with an idea for a song when I was fooling around with Reaper. I would describe as a techno dance song. Tell me what you think about it.
  19. Well after looking through the comments, I think I might try to learn Reaper, since, even though it's not free, you can still use the program. If I like it, I might eventually pay the $60 and register it. And as for making specific effects that are common in electronic music, I can just find tutorials on how to make those on youtube, right?
  20. Well, thanks for the advice guys. But are there any free all-in-one DAW's or do you have to pay for all the good one's? Up until now, I've been using an Anvil Studio + Synthfont combo. Anything with a good piano roll sequencer + soundfont support + VST's would work. But if there's not anything free, I guess I'll just save up for Reaper or FL Studio.
  21. Hi, MikeViper here and I wanted to know, how I do get started in making electronic music? I'd like to know. The particular style of electronic music that I want to produce, is the kind of music you would here in 90's racing games or fighting games. Currently, I've only been producing music in midi format. But these songs have a lot of effects that are difficult to do with midi. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about... Ridge Racer 64 - Revolver: SSX Tricky - Slayboarder: JSRF: Tekken 3 - Jin's Theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf5HclWKYrc&feature=relmfu So yeah, I'm talking about being able to produce songs like those. You know, songs that generally have a lot of flanger effects, as well as arpeggiators and such. I guess what I'm asking basically is, what would be the best program for producing these kinds of songs, where I can do all those crazy flanger effects, panning effects and perhaps use a sampled beat?
  22. Hey, MikeViper here. I recently composed a song called "Cool Magic". I'd best describe as being similar to something you might here in a 90's Sonic game. You can listen to it here: Before you comment, the use of 90's style instruments like the TR-909 and Moog Bass is intentional to give it that nostalgic feel.
  23. Hey, MikeViper here. I recently wrote a new song that was inspired by traditional Japanese music. It's similar to something you might here in a Goemon/Mystical Ninja game.
  24. Hey, MikeViper here and I composed a new 90's style electro/dance track. It sounds like something that you might hear in a late 90's platforming game. Nothing particularly inspired this track, it just popped in my mind randomly while at work really. But yeah, you can listen to it here: Like it? Hate it? Make sure to rate, comment and subscribe.
  25. Hey, MikeViper here. I recently wrote an original Smooth Jazz piece. You can listen to it here: Tell me what you think of it.
