It's has boring instrumentation (aside from what Neko posted) with boring lyrics I can't relate to because I'm not a bumpkin. But some of it's a'ight.
For similar reasons I can understand someone not liking death metal for thinking it's wankery and I could totally understand if someone can't relate to the lyrics because said person is a whiny sissy little girl who can't handle harshness and manly things.

Those tips don't really have anything to do with guitar sequencing though. You're talking more about synthesizing a guitar sound, which is a waste of time when there are good samples out there. Things like string physics and harmonics aren't really relevant at all.
Here are the things that are most important, and which people most commonly get wrong:
1. Release noises. When playing guitar, there is a lot of fret noise and squeaking going on. Furthermore, when a note is stopped manually, there's a little bit of noise from that, too.
2. Related to #1, unless you're FULLY sustaining a note, don't use a release envelope. The note should basically stop suddenly since, as I said, real players will mute notes before they ring out fully.
3. Palm mute playing. Many people ignore the use of muted notes (palm mutes) entirely, so their sequenced guitar sounds awful. 99% of the time, your guitar riff is going to use some kind of muting, not just open strings. So watch for that.
4. Realistic rhythms. Listen to classic rock and metal riffs. So many people write these plain quarter-note guitar parts that no real guitarist would play simply because they lack any rhythmic interest whatsoever. That's a major giveaway of sequenced guitar, beyond the samples and other production values. Write good parts!
These are important things. ^ Listen to this man.

Thanks guys. I'm at home right now and still my house sways every now and then. When the big one happened, I was in an elementary school classroom and we all got under the desks. It was two separate earthquakes that happened in rapid succession. One in Miyagi prefecture and one in Ibaraki prefecture. Miyagi is far to the north and Ibaraki is near Tokyo in the middle of Japan. So basically well over half of Japan is being affected by the quakes. I live in one of the more quake-heavy areas, Niigata, but we got lucky this time. However, there are tons of places where roofs caved in and... Oh my god. I am watching news footage of a bridge collapsing and all the cars being swept away by a tsunami. This is really horrific. Huge areas are being evacuated for this, the biggest earthquake ever in Japan. Magnitude 8.8! The areas that didn't get shaken like Kyushu area in the south and Okinawan islands are all unbeleivably flooding. UGH. JUST now it says that very soon there may be another big quake starting in Fukushima. I might have to get under a table since I'm in the neighboring prefecture.
I'll write again very soon. Thanks.
Sounds awful. Glad to hear you're safe.

I think genres and sub-genres are a great thing. If I'm looking for something specific, I can get something specific. It also helps establish a timeline of when certain styles branch out.

Hopefully it's not littered with bugs and glitches like Oblivion and Fallout 3.
Wouldn't hold your breath.
Skyrim is looking quite fantastic though. Anyone sort of notice that the third person system/animations seem waaay improved?

I think FF13 just caters to a specific kind of audience that I'm not. Or something. The characters, the story, a lot of it just felt like a mess. It got to the point where I got to Gran Pulse and after so many hours of clenching my teeth I threw my hands up in the air and said "I'm done with this." Glad I did because I went through Mass Effect 2 instead.
I'm kind of surprised to hear they're making a sequel heh. A lot of people I've talked to really did not dig that game.

Chuck Schuldiner is definitely one of my favorite guitarists. While self taught, very repetitive in his early work and over reliant on the harmonic minor scale, he grew as a musician and guitarist to develop a very distinct and unique style.
Schuldiner is definitely one of my favourites. While I feel like a lot of genre pioneers get surpassed by bands that come after them, I feel like Chuck's growth as a musician and his tendency to lean towards a lot of progressive and innovative songwriting in later Death albums really sets it apart from a lot of death metal even today.
He was taken from us far too early.

If you're ever in need of a jaw dropping, just type 'Guthrie Govan' in youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=440p8ZQZ3Js&feature=related (3:00.... I don't even.....)
It's more impressive when you realize that half of his pieces are usually improvised sections with always completely different but consistently ridiculous and tasteful.
Wow. I dig.

Impressions so far? Love it. It does has its flaws, like it's wordiness will still get on your nerves. Presentation is fantastic. Fans will love it, but it's not going to change anyone's mind if they didn't like the GBA games.
But you know what? You auto-attack the next enemy when the one you targeted dies. That makes me soooo happy.

They wouldn't ship to Canada. That seemed pretty shit-out-of-luck to me.
Glad to see that's changed now. It's been a long time since I even looked at them, so I don't know when they changed. But on the other hand, 32 GB microSDHC card for me, so it's all gooooooood.
They operate out of Richmond, BC and have always shipped in Canada dude. I have no idea what you're talking about.

Well, I'm glad to see that NCIX finally got around to dealing with Canadian customers better. Used to be that you were shit out of luck with them.
Shit out of luck? In what way?

I've never liked ETG's policies and like people said, lack of NickServ and stuff is annoying. It's probably close to one of the worst IRC networks of that size that I've been on. I get so frustrated watching how often other people have issues with the network.
It's not bad enough that I would hate it if we stayed, but I would honestly prefer a move.
I really don't get why people have trouble with ETG.Nobody does get why.
That's why ETG is a shitty network.

I know a lot of you follow SRK and Eventhubs, but there's bits and pieces of the balance changelog being released each week for the Arcade Edition (and inevitable console patch release.)
I've been attempting to play Sakura, and I'm glad she got buffed. She's got some blatant disadvantages in a lot of matchups. Nothing ridiculous, she never goes below 4-6 on tier lists, but the number of instances where she's at a disadvantage definitely made her a good candidate for some retooling.
Today, they just released the notes for E. Honda, Ibuki, Rose, and Gouken, so check'em out. Next week is gonna be the official notes for Blanka, Abel, Ken, and Makoto. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about some of the changes so far. Maybe the benefit of El Feurte's changes will be more evident after release, but it seems like he could've used a little more tuning than what's listed there. Then again I'm not a high level player by any means.
By the way, how many people are still actively playing this? I just got back into it. My PSN name is Sloogs, I'd love to play some of you guys.

I know Misha (bulb, guy behind periphery) personally and I have to say, after the years of demos, I was truly disappointed with their first album. He has done a lot better stuff just as demos.
Yeah, was a real letdown. I'm glad they released an instrumental version at least. Some of the tracks stand out more once the vocals are gone. Like IBBIAZ said though, they're just higher produced versions of their demo tracks. In some cases, you might say overproduced. I liked some demo versions of the songs better.
Anyone else listen to Jupiter by Atheist yet? Fantastic album, even if it's a little short.

I was kinda sad when I first read this.
I would have liked that design best if she were, you know, wearing some pants or something. The hood and cloak design, along with the goggles, makes for an interesting outfit with lots of combinations within the single design. But the slutty underclothing really ruins it.My favourite came in 6th place, even beaten out by that ugly, barren design in the yellow, which got 5th. Hell's heart, stabbing, etc is still in effect.
Yeah, I kind of agree.
I really liked the met-girl's design. A little ditzy looking, but other than that I'm drawn to it.

Any game that autosaves or won't let you backtrack when you have no life/ammo/resources left, followed by a major world-shattering boss fight, followed by an aneurysm.

For those that are lazy:
The exact blog post is right there.
You're going to need a Unity account. It takes no time at all to set up, and Unity usually has a lot of cool stuff for the community to give feedback on.

I'd be cool with the reroll. I was out of town for a while, just got back yesterday, so I never got to finish my project. I'm sure someone probably nuked it by now anyways, guess I'll find out after work tonight.
Either way, I wouldn't mind starting from scratch.

Account I use is called Sloogs.

So I bought this game and I've gotta say, it's pretty rad and has a lot of potential.
I'd be down for an OCR server. I haven't tried the multiplayer stuff yet.
Also, affter looking at the logic gate type stuff with the redstone or whatever, this game really does seem like it has a pretty amazing future ahead of it.

in Final Fantasy 8 is written in 5/4 and is easily my favourite FF battle theme.According to this guy, it's 29/16.
Wow, very cool analysis.

Order of Ecclesia
it has class out the ass, difficulty that takes skill and not necessarily grinding, and you play as a girl that doesn't have a complex about being a kid
the downside to this is that it makes Dawn of Sorrow feel very dry and Portrait of Ruin feel very anime-y, so you might want to play those first if you want to play them at all
Not to mention Lv. 1 Hard Mode is an amazing way to replay the game and REALLY test yourself.
Like, fuck, seriously. The regular difficulty is pretty damn challenging to begin with. I rarely replay games a second time, if I do it'll usually be a few years or more from when I played it the first time. Lv 1 Hard Mode convinced me to replay it ASAP and I've enjoyed every minute of it so far.

I mostly just think Ubisoft needs to get rid of these awful advertisements they've been doing.
