Gamebox just doesn't quit, does he?
This is as always amazing funk. It's all there - the solo, the changes, the refined mastery. When you think you've got a handle on it, it applies some lotion and slips from your grasp in the most delightful way.
Top drawer stuff. Which is all the man seems able to do. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Dirty Mix fans, head over to http://www.stratfordisland.com/asap for six albums of free tunes.
Two Christmas albums, an Uplifting album, a Learning album, an album composed in MIDI and an entirely new genre of music called Skew await you.

Cheers Elly, Avaris and of course Mr EazyP
Don't worry, there's plenty more rubbish films for me to sample yet...

Why thank you!

Badass, bro. I'll pick up the issue from my local Borders bookstore. If I mail it to you, would you be willing to sign it? (EDIT: Purchased!)
Only about 8 minutes into the "Bijou Breaks August Mix" while on my lunch break (i.e. The Album Leaf - "The Outer Banks"), but this is pretty badass so far, plus some of my ole' Binster favoriies in there like "The Guards Have Found a Dead Ninja" and G'nG Poltergeist Mix. Looking forward to chillin and listening to the rest!
In all seriousness, lemme know if Computer Music could use an article on OCR. pixietricks will hug you. Tightly.
I'll mention it to my mate (nervous_testpilot, for it is he) to see if there's scope for some kind of article about OCR - I'll keep you posted
-
Cheers for the kind words fellers!
As for CM - it's not as glamourous as it seems; one of my mates works as a writer for the mag, and he innocuously sent me a list of questions... I was surprised when my answers featured in such a prominent article!

Well, that link's been up for its maximum 2 week period, and now it's been deleted.
So I guess that makes it ok for me to put up a direct link for those of you who don't want to register at bijoubreaks.com (for shame!)
Here it is - no need to register now, just download and listen!

That's brought me back down to earth - cheers meccaneer

This track's getting so well received, I'm worried I won't be able to top it...
Creative downward-spiral, here I come!
Cheers Master And Penwald - glad it's doing it for you.

I say much the same thing on the description I just wrote for this song on my music website. I hope you don't mind that I posted it up there.
That's absolutely fine Klondike - I crave fame, so the more posts the merrier
Helmholz, you're far too kind. Keep it up

Dunno how that happened. I'm sure normal service will be resumed shortly...

Muchas gracias to everyone who's commented in this thread.
I'm really blown away by the reception this mix is getting. I'm very proud to have produced such a fitting tribute to the main man himself, Mr Follin.

Edit: I forgot the
Cybil: "I'm keeping you at bay with this gun, but it's just a bluff. Here, I'll prove it...*click*...see? Oops, I probably should have thought that one through a bit more."
-steve
Got to pick you up on that one at least. Did you notice the way Cybil was smiling when she pulled the trigger? My reading of it was that she knew the gun was empty, but equally she knew Rose had to get in that lift. When Rose was safely on the descent, she had won. They could beat her all they wanted, she'd done what she had to. Hence, the smile and the click. I thought it was beautifully done.
I doubt that'll make a difference to what you think of the film, but I thought it needed pointing out.

Just wanted to chime in with my thoughts.
The film's ace! It has bad bits, but as a complete thing it's wonderfully horrid.
SPOILERS : (How do I do white text?)
I wasn't keen on the nurses role in this film. I think these nurses were modelled on the nurses from SH2 - all sexy and busty. That worked in that game due to the overall themes of lust and that, but here they seemed out of place.
SPOILERS END
Does Christopher Gans have an email address? I want to write to him and thank him for this film. </FANBOY MODE>

Bad ass. Being game music fans, I'd think that everyone was born with an inate love of old-skool beeps. I certainly am.
This is great. It's complex at the core, with simplistic tones at the fore. It takes you by surprise.

Good news, everyone!
I've uploaded the long version of Icon to my myspace page. It's also less harsh on the ears, which is a good thing.
Go to http://www.myspace.com/thabisnit to have a listen, plus I've got some other tracks up there too.

The ECF-42 doesn't have HP but Dr.REX does.......
Is there some way of routing an audio signal through a DrRex that I'm not aware of? Lots of instruments have nice filters (the subtractor, for example) but that's moot. I want to be able to high pass my entire mix.
And I'm not keen on using the reverse-sweep vocoder-whitenoise technique from Peff's book, either. Far too fiddly...
-
Cheers for the kind words, all.
EazyP, you make me blush
Less Ashamed, you got any particular source piece in mind? No promises, of course
irriadin, I'm going to have to look at Home sweet home again, I think. I overworked it, and it turned out a bit poo, so I'll give it a refit to bring it up to the standard befitting a track with a GaMeBoX guest appearance...

They can add a decent filter. The current one is bobbins - just LP and BP. We need more power! HP at least...
My first release!

Ello all!
I thought I'd give you all a heads up on my first ever commercial release.
I posted a track up last year, called Survival Instinct. Well, it's just come out on vinyl, backed with two top dollar remixes.
For details on how to buy the single, click here.
I'd like to thank everyone who's helped me with my WIPs over the years, with special mention to EazyP, Ellywu2, Gamebox, GrayLightning, Liontamer, SGX and lots more that I'm sure I've forgotten. The OCR community is such a great creative field, and I intend to keep my finger in the remix pie
Cheers all!
