  1. "aww man I have to go to my knitting tournament this month and can no longer go to PAX"

Being stuck with PAX badges you can't use can be depressing. Luckily, we here at Shadix and Associates have created a revolutionary solution for this delimna using our patented technology. If this is you and you find yourself in a pickle where you and somebody you care about can no longer attend PAX, we can help. Shadix and Associates has a long standing tradition of going to conventions and enjoying them thoroughly, and PAX Prime is no exception.

So if you have 2 PAX Prime tickets you might not be using, please send them to Shadix, because remember, when you trust your tickets to Shadix, you know they're in good hands.

  2. I would say that while the others are more prominent, Schala's theme is much more haunting and emotive. The fact that it does not take the center stage only ever adds to the appeal, making those times that you do hear it burn into your memories that much more.

As for the mix. If this were the last Schala mix ever, I would be satisfied. This is fantastic work, and I will have it on many a playlist for years to come.

I'm sure that plays a factor, but I'm thinking, just like Ice Cap Zone, the reason may wind down to the fact that since the structure is really simple it's easy to arrange.

  3. http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=11615 I have a huge 20 page topic of these over at Sonic Retro.

    Here's a couple.

Xavier - Work that Sucker to Death

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXSucRO3Iyw

    Sonic CD JAP/EUR Boss

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms6bXVC5mdc

    Enigma: Sadeness Pt. 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tK-u7fCK8M

Rusty Ruins (Stylistic Similarities) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ_qheNzIm4 (this was actually more or less confirmed with Richard Jacques in an interview)

    SOR2 Theme:

Stevie Wonder - My Cherie Amour (the verses)

    Can you Feel the Sunshine.

Janet Jackson - Lets Wait Awhile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvKhDiNME4E

    Green Hill Zone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFHvxuuOymo

...and also a little fun one for those who had that aweful Pokemon pop album.

Misty's Song from the Pokemon 2BA Master album = You Are Not Alone

    The songs are practically identical.

  4. Oh please, none of these guys have anything on David Banner (P Diddy is pretty damn close). He takes bad sampling to a whole new level making new songs out of samples of his own god damn songs.

I have a bunch of these:

    - Estelle (Ft. Kanye West) - American Boy

    - Impatient by Will.I.Am.

This isn't even a sample, Estelle and Kanye just added vocals to it. >_>

    - Rapping over Human Nature.

    - Janet Jackson's Ventura Highway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I0d29s6GCc source if not familiar)
  5. ...Eh I'm not so sure this is a great idea.

Unlike SFII HD where it made sense to have a bunch of different people because the soundtrack was being rearranged, the standard here would be for original music and would need to maintain a level of coherency throughout the game. Personally I think soundtracks like this are more suited for one composer or a small team that works closely on it.

I guess if you can find a way to make it work. I'm just not so sure the sonic community, whom this game at least seemed like a halfass attempt to target, is going to like the idea of this though, particularly with their opinions towards OCR in general. I personally would want Naofumi Hataya to compose the soundtrack but from what we've already seen thats not happening.

  6. Look at the rules in the first post.

Maybe you don't understand that the Bad Dudes are a troupe? (see "Bios" page here http://baddudesmusic.com/) They're taking first dibs on the Villains and then an OCR regular will take the corresponding Hero. Mazedude (Bad Dude) chose to arrange "Mother Brain" [Metroid] and challenged big giant circles (OCR Judge) to arrange "Samus" [Metroid].

I have chosen "Bowser" [Mario series]. Someone will eventually chose "Mario" [Mario series], or I could challenge an OCR regular.

    Get it?

Oh, now it all makes sense. I was trying to figure out what the heck this "bad dude" business was about. You might want to add something about that to the title post so that people who aren't familiar with you guys know whats going on. It's very vague considering that you guys are doing the villains album.

  7. I've been looking to replicate that Teddy Riley-esque kit for a long time now, but I still have yet to be able to figure out what makes the drums tick in this music. That clap\snare layered sound. Michael Jackson's Dangerous album is a pretty good example of what I'm going for. Can anyone direct me to the type of kit or maybe some sort of guide somewhere to attain the effect?

    Some examples:

Can't Let Her Get Away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3eX_sDi08

    If: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fquGNHiEG-4

    What About Your Friends:

Thats the Way Love Goes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUOkg4jFNus

    Rump Shaker:

    Jam:

    Rhythm Nation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEMQOaFyAEs

    Poison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thJFQcfwsYo

  8. I require Warcraft 2 remixes before someone tries to mix WoW stuff .

As far as obscure game soundtracks go, I have a contribution:

    Dark Reign -

    Track 1 -

    Track 3 -

    Track 6 -

    Track 9 -

Screw that the whole soundtrack is amazing, and it was an amazing RTS back in the day and even still today.

I've always wanted to hear something done with the soundtrack to Chakan for the Genesis as well, but its so obscure I can't find a link to link you guys to any examples.

Lastly, more PSO mixes would be hardcore.

  9. Site layout is really slick, but I gotta say I was really alarmed by the lack of the a-z listing.

IMO it kindof makes the regular remixes seem less accessible. Sure you can search but unless I'm just blind theres no sensible, UPFRONT way to just browse through the database anymore. I thought that the browsing up in the corner was one of the most ingenious elements of the sites design, because it made the remixes practically jump out at people looking at the site for the first time.

It's like "OH I WONDER IF MY FAVORITE GAME IS LISTED". Sure you can just search, but it kindof takes out the novelty of discovery out of the site. More obscure title mixes are probably going to get screwed because people aren't going to think to check if that game has been mixed.

  10. So I went ahead and picked up an IONIX u22... Gotta say, the thing sounds amazing, the sound comes in so clean compared to my previous unit. In fact, I'd say every single thing about it is better than the firebox...

Except for the fact that I think that it's USB is holding it back performance-wise. FL is spazzing out at the 2ms setting and is completely unusuable at the lowest setting.

  11. nope. I think it was a faulty unit anyways. It always had overheating problem (lol I know "fire box"), but a couple months ago the preamp blew out for some reason, and then last week the entire unit died. the light went out. I think it still sortof works, it's just now it won't register any connections to the computer.
