  1. Honestly, I think the online pass makes sense for all the reasons EA gives. Used sales hog their online resources without paying for it. This helps pay for it. I'm OK with that.

Eh, when a gamer plays with a used copy, the original owner doesn't play it online anymore, so there's just as much online resources being used as before.

  2. And yet, here we are 12 years later, still posting about it, still discussing it. And not just some small subgroup of gamers, a fairly large chunk. Im trying really hard to think of another game thats 12 years old that gets that kind of attention.....

    Ocarina of Time, Starcraft, Tetris

  3. Dear Pandora Visitor,

We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.

We believe that you are in Belgium (your IP address appears to be *censored*). If you believe we have made a mistake, we apologize and ask that you please contact us at pandora-support@pandora.com

If you are a paid subscriber, please contact us at pandora-support@pandora.com and we will issue a pro-rated refund to the credit card you used to sign up. If you have been using Pandora, we will keep a record of your existing stations and bookmarked artists and songs, so that when we are able to launch in your country, they will be waiting for you.

We will be notifying listeners as licensing agreements are established in individual countries. If you would like to be notified by email when Pandora is available in your country, please enter your email address below. The pace of global licensing is hard to predict, but we have the ultimate goal of being able to offer our service everywhere.

We share your disappointment and greatly appreciate your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Tim Westergen

I guess I'll never know what you're talking about :P

  4. I'm very annoyed by some people calling others 'stupid' for listening to whatever is popular, and that this would mean that they can't form their own opinion.

You know, listening to something because it's popular IS the consequence of someone's opinion. You might not like it because it isn't your opinion, but it IS still their own choice.

I seriously hate people who dislike popular music just because it's popular, or who dismiss popular because 'lol everyone listens to it because they want to fit in'. You might not realize it, but there are SO many people who 'want to be different', that they aren't different at all.

I'd say I'm gonna regret clicking the submit button, but then people will whine about why I chose to click it anyway.

  5. Well, lossless fans are certainly the most vocal, by far, but the poll results really aren't reflecting that opinion. I also have to agree with BGC that if we did ABX tests, I'd wager that hardly anybody could discern between a high bitrate MP3 (eg. 192) and WAV, or even 192 vs. 256.

Any democracy that blindly follows the most popular opinion is a dumb democracy ;)

And while you're most probably 100% correct on the ABX test statement, you should keep in mind that, when we download the OST, we will know the quality, and observer bias will be present.

  6. I love leitmotifs but I can't think of any solid example of a videogame that VERY effectively used them. Apart from maybe as Moseph said Super Mario World and a bunch of other mario games.

Could one consider the "dynamic music" in Banjo-Kazooie as this?

BK was the first game to come to my mind as well.

  7. I mean lets face it, the majority of the OCR listening demographic probably isnt old enough to get into a club to hear it in its prime location.

You win this thread. If you haven't experienced a huge rave you're not in the position to dismiss Trance as a boring/uninspired genre.

  8. As part of the unwashed masses (aka, people not in the Industry) would it surprise you to know that if this actually happened, every game company the world over would weep tears of honey-joy? Costs of making games would go down significantly, the speed at which games are developed would increase, and overall quality would improve.

That is highly doubtful. My prediction: if such a thing happens we'll get flooded by even more shovelware than now.
