  1. i've got one - black label, all artwork and book and discs in great condition, jewel case has a crack in it - that i'd sell for a decent amount. with a new jewelcase, it'd easily be showroom quality.

As do I... though Abadoss still has first claim to it if he's interested and I get the chance to actually prep it for inspection.

  2. Please tell me the remixinator is still available at an address somewhere. I didn't get a chance to try all the combos.

BTW, I recall during PAX East that no one seemed to have a clear idea on what to do for AF. Did people come up with this at the last minute or... was that conversation, in ITSELF, an April Fools joke?

People that give the joke away always get banned. It's not punishment or "too much". It's to preserve the joke throughout the day.

Had you been being punished for something, you'd probably still be banned.

This happened to me last year (or the year before). I didn't mind the daylong ban so much as the fact that I had no way of knowing this unwritten rule ahead of time.

  3. I had to split my time between the OCR/regular convention crowd and my friends from high school and college. On Saturday, the latter group and I did "Enter Sandman" in the Rock Band room. My friend posted a video to his profile, but it's not visible to non-friends. I could put it on youtube if people wanted, because it is fucking badass.

  4. if the 3DS does, in fact, run on a significantly more powerful system than the DS, I'd say that the comparison to the gameboy line would run as such:

Game Boy : Game Boy Pocket : Game Boy Color : Game Boy Advance :: DS : DS Lite : DSi : 3DS

And now consider the time interval between releases on the game boy side versus the DS side. Consider what games gained, and how much better they were to play, as a result of those updates.

Are we seeing that with these DS updates?

  5. Y

What does this even mean? It's not another DS iteration, it's a new system. How is this the same as DS > DSLite > DSi > DSiXL.

Also, when in recent history has Nintendo ever not made their handheld consoles "right" and "well?"

It's like complaining about Nintendo making the Gameboy Advance because you were just about to buy a Gameboy Color.

Stop whining and buy your DSiXL.

Regardless of what it may be marketed as, I don't understand what classes this new device as something more than another DS update. It takes the same cartridge format. Its hardware will not be a vast improvement. It just has another feature that, as has been noted, won't really improve gameplay (or, I'd wager, even make the viewing experience much better - would you enjoy Avatar significantly more if you saw it in 3D or less if you didn't?).

Nintendo used to make big changes to its hardware every three to four years. And when they did it was usually significant - it gained color, or a new form factor, or a backlight. But the changes made to the DS have been small and frequent, which indicated Nintendo either starts production on any whim they think of or are especially desperate to cash in on said whim. The DS has been out for 5 years, gone through 4 iterations, and basically looks and acts the way it should have from the start.

  6. I was all set to buy a DSi-XL too.

Now I'm just going to keep waiting and enjoy No$Zoomer.

Seriously, Nintendo. Stop doing this all the damn time. When it comes to console development, take your time. Make it right. Make it well. And then LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE.

  7. Anyone know of a place that might sell used gameboy games that is not amazon, ebay, or gamestop?

I have a couple. If you include GBA games within that statement I have more. If you include DS games I have more...

  8. I find myself with frequent downtime during my commute and other wanderings. What better time to download some OCR tracks and post on the forums with my Internet-capable smartphone (like now, for instance)? Unfortunately, there are no custom stylesheets to make browsing any part of the site easier. For example, the fields at the top of the screen to log in are not reachable (I had to create a thread to get a login prompt). I don't know whether we could style the VBulletin forums without breaking something (though I think we could), but there's no reason not to streamline the mix part of the site. I wouldn't mind taking a crack at a style or two...

  9. The movie looks okay, but the trailer itself was not good. Trailer scenes usually splice in scenes from all throughout the movie while punctuating the transitions with voiceovers or text explaining the premise of the movie (this only happens at the beginning of this trailer). I feel like I saw every important scene from the movie right there in the trailer. Where's the tease? Where's the suspense?

  10. Ask him about that Earthworm Jim album he came here pimping (looking for remixes from OCR artists), and then never seemed to bring up again.

Was this before he released it? Because it's totally been released now. I have it. Protricity, Zyko and Mazedude are on it.

Or do you mean he pimped it after it had been released... but then why would he need more mixes?

  11. So I totally stepped in and saved the show today.

I saw a Facebook post yesterday explaining that they needed a Mac posthaste - the PSU on their G5 had just burnt out and they weren't exactly rolling in dough to buy a new one. I brought mine to them, and in return, I got/will get:

    • Reimbursement for my transportation
    • Two (2) free tickets to one of the later occurring shows
    • A refund on the one (1) ticket I'd already bought
    • A signed copy of the program by the cast & crew
    • Adam Bertocci's (the author's) signature on my Big Lebowksi DVDs
    • An original work by Adam Bertocci (not one that he wrote before - he will write it for me)
    • The chance to talk with the projection/light specialist about the awesome program QLab, which is what they needed my Mac to run (it's a really powerful program, and syncs lights, music, and projection together using MIDI data. I can easily imagine a keyboardist going wild with this program)
    • I will get to keep the Minidisplay to VGA adapter they had to buy to interface my computer with their projector

All this for me to go without my laptop for three weeks? Sold! (I'm posting this from my dad's computer)

You'll notice that I said I got 2 tickets. That means someone will come with me. A good, non-OCR friend of mine is definitely in the running, but if anyone here wants to put their names in, I'll definitely think about it.

However, I'll still arrange to be in the area for some kind of meeting, I'll just miss the awesome of the show.

Do you know of a specific April date that works for you? That may affect when I choose to get my tix...

  12. Come on, Archaon. Like anyone's going to believe you didn't write this.

<QUOTE=Archaon;628521>Then I recalled the forest scene. You know, after the hunter decides that cutting a little girl's goddamned heart out</QUOTE>

<QUOTE=Article>Aside from the part where the Huntsman is looming over a defenseless teenage girl, ready to cut her heart out and put it in a freaking box</QUOTE>

(Quotes intentionally broken to preserve italic formatting)

I remember the Pink Elephants scene very well from when I saw that movie as a kid. But not because it scared me. I thought the song was fun and the pink soapy elephants were funny to watch. I had no idea about alcohol or hallucinogenics at all back then, so I just thought it was Dumbo being silly.
