  1. Hello all, just wanted to "check in" since I've been gone for a while. After finishing a ton of stuff for schoo this week, I have room to breathe again :)

So, heading home for break now, and will record things with the guitarist. Expect major revisions from me by the end of next weekend. 8)

  2. Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I can't make Thanksgiving get here any faster, and until then my friend is 680 miles away. So, all in good time

Just for fun...here's an example of something he and I did a year ago:

    http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~adam-leeper/mp3/G_Strings/01-PutinMarchesOnOslo.mp3

It's also a good example of something where I took the time to program different beats and fills in the drum part.

  3. True, perhaps everyone should be seeking opinions of their tracks individually in the rest of the OC Remix forums. I bet the "outsiders" don't feel like digging through our thread.

I posted a new WIP. More fleshed out and transitioned, plus a few new elements you might appreciate. Still no updates to guitar or drums, but they will be coming. 8)

  4. Where are you going with that? I know I am still unsure of where I am going with my song, but that's to be expected after only a couple weeks. I'm still playing with adding, subtracting, and rearranging parts. I have had lots of ideas but it takes time to figure out where/how some of them will fit.

Give everyone time, remember the earliest official WIPs aren't due for 4 weeks...this early stuff is just bouncing ideas around and helping each other out 8)

  5. I posted a rough Bowser WIP on the, uh ...other... forum .

I'll probably take a week break or so from this as I remember that working on this has kept me away from various school responsibilities :? Plus it will give me a fresh ear when i pick it up again.

In the mean time, comments appreciated.

  6. Hey PI...could we add a column to the table in your first post that says what general style/genre each remixer is doing? That way new folks can help keep/add to the balance and we don't end up with too much of one style. Unless we like that sort of thing...

To get things started, mine is looking like rock with some orchestral backing (think No Leaf Clover by Metallica).

pu_freak: I may be interested in a Wily/Sigma collab if no one picks it up in a few weeks.

  7. I have access to Cubase and its "mastering" (compression and EQ) plug-ins. If someone has more proper experience and the pro plug-ins specifically designed for mastering it would be better, but I am certainly no stranger to trying to master songs (e.g. for my band). I will warn though: as a bassist myself, I am accused of making songs a little bass heavy ;)

Like James George said, someone "in the biz" would be better for the voodoo-arcane art of mastering, but otherwise I can help.

  8. Hey guys. As PI mentioned, I am in fact a bassist. And I have pro recording equipment to boot. So, I can do some bass tracks...

of course, bass is one of the easier things to emulate, compared to the tonal complexity of distorted guitar, so...I'll only do interesting lines, or those that are hard to emulate

Does anyone have a clip of the Bowser laugh from Mario 64? I don't have my N64 at college...
