  1. *looks at theme description*

Er, how did "stomach fortitude" turn into "digestinal fortitude"? I mean, as portmanteaus go, that one's pretty slick, I'm just wondering... ;)

EDIT: Actually, now that I look at it, several things have changed from my original prompt. Is there a reason for that?

Enemy fighters dead ahead! Get your head out of the clouds, pilot, because you're about to test your skill, reflexes, wits, and stomach fortitude. Whether you're a WWI fighter ace or a Man-Kzin starfighter jockey, whether you're dodging flak or proton torpedoes, the rules of the game are the same: get on your enemy's six and blast him out of the sky. Good luck!
  2. That's probably more the case, now that I think about it. If I hadn't done mine in the first week of the competition, there's no way I'd have had time with the start of the new semester. Even so, it took me some thinking around the theme before I came up with a good way to approach it. I really did appreciate the challenge, and it led me to do some new things that I'm rather proud of!

Looking forward to hearing both of your tracks! :)

  3. At first I read that as "Pah-ool-ee-ong" and was wondering if that was Vietnamese... :) But, yes, please do enter! This competition is wicked fun!

If we extended the deadline to this Saturday, would that allow jabond23 and Nicholas Singer to enter? Or should we take longer? I don't want to rush anyone, but I also think we shouldn't take too long before serving up another theme, if this one didn't resonate with a lot of people.

And, sorry, Nicholas, it worked for me! Sometimes it's hard to predict how well a theme will do, though I've noticed that most of the themes that falter are either too specific or too broad. This one might have leaned toward too specific. But once again, it's a crapshoot. I seem to remember seeing people posting their interest on other boards, and then they just didn't turn up.

  4. Wow, thanks to everyone who voted for me, and also to everyone who contributed to an excellent field of entries! This was a brilliant theme, and I hope my upcoming theme will be as inspiring. :)

(Which, by the way, I have just submitted to Abadoss. I hope you're feeling better - food poisoning is no fun.)

Nario, I'm glad you appreciated my feedback. I think that's one of the best things about this competition overall; we're all trying to challenge and improve ourselves, and it's always great to get both encouragement and constructive criticism from fellow musicians.

Everybody enter next round, okay? :D

  5. Suppose I'll add my name to the list of regretful non-participators. I had a feeling I wouldn't make it for this one because the due date was during finals week. I was hoping it'd work out, but meh...

Hoping I'll be able to do something for the next round, even though I'm home for Christmas break, so I'm stuck with my laptop and a meager array of samples. I'll get my vote in for this round shortly.

  6. There seems to be a subliminal message coded into your post... I can't quite make it out...

On a completely unrelated topic, I sent in my theme on Monday. Don't know what's taking Abadoss so long. The slacker. :-P

Oh, and I took advantage of EastWest's two-for-one deal... I am now the proud owner of Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold and Goliath. Not sure if I'll be able to get it all set up and master it enough to use it in the next round, especially as final projects crash down on me. But I remain hopeful.
