This was an awesome mix. Like you were saying, though, it just needs that little something to take it over the top. I'd point you to some of the music from Cowboy Bebop for inspiration, especially ones such as Road to the West and Rain. Both are great songs, but are fairly simple, and manage to grab that last little something to take them over the top. Hope to hear it again in a finished form soon!
