  1. Going on again in 40, ustream will be working this time around.
  2. Hey guys, myself and a couple friends are using our campus radio station to start up a new show that is strictly videogame and videogame music discussion, we figured we talked about games and OCR plenty on our other shows and we would just end up talking about videogames for 2 hours off the air anyways, so why not use our station's studio to subject other people to that? We're going live at 2 central time and are test recording this one for a podcast, we have no idea which direction this thing is heading in and it won't exactly be an OCR community news and spotlight show, but some people here might enjoy listening and calling in. Station link is http://www.dragonradio.org/, and might also be running a Ustream with the radio stream and a chat at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/spooolstream
  3. It's just plain economics, I would be surprised if they're still just considering it. Obviously you will have the crowd that prefers the original and will refuse to buy and even protest a remake, but that's not even close to the percentage of people who would stand outside gamestop to pick it up on opening night. Spinoffs not bringing in the expected amount of money? That's perfectly fine, they have a solution right here.
  4. I was thinking about starting up the speedrun competition that unmod had going on probably in 2006 or so again. This feels like a good place to interest mill, it being a speedrun thread and all. Basically the idea is it's a simple weekly pissing contest, we start off with a game, DKC for instance, and we just run the game, cart or emulator doesn't really matter, I just ask that nobody would play through tool assisted cause that's just stupid. The thread will limit every player to 3 practice runs and a legit timer run, and we'll just use the trust system to post results. The winner of each week gets to pick the next game, but they can't compete in the game that they select, they can however post their record time for bragging rights. So yeah the easiest way to circumvent cheating is to have no real reward other than picking the next week's game that you can't even compete in. Rules for game selection are fairly simple, something no longer than an hour or two tops, and not too hard or terrible. Anyone think this is a good idea?
  5. I might have something in the making for Immoral Melody, depending on how things go in terms of time over the next couple weeks, going to Miami next Wednesday, but I'll bring with some sheet music and a ipod keyboard app and see if I can program a good wip the day I get back. Or even better I'll have a good wip out the door by the time I leave. Don't consider it claimed or anything but I'm hoping I'll be able to pull this off in time.
  6. Zyko- Since you're here I have a question for ya and a couple comments on your excellent tracks. Q: So how did you come about taking on 3 different tracks for this project, each one going in such a different direction too, did you start out knowing you wanted to take on 3 right away or did some of the unclaimed tracks fall into your hands after you got some good ideas for them? Token up: Awesome sense of direction for this piece, you took it down a rollercoaster or two on your way to the finished project, you rock the melody in the smoothest way possible, take us around the world, and bring us back to the familiar melody with energy, and it's almost 7 minutes! Can't get enough of this one. Apes of Wrath: imo the most reminiscent of your older work, loving the way you played around with the melodies, very free guitar, smooth organ, and creative percussion, there's a lot to love in this one. Backwards Room: Left me breathless the first time around with its gritty new wave sort of feel, grabs my attention 100% every time I hear it. Great flow to it, although it loses a bit of energy by the time the last verse hits. That aside, this is exactly what I wanted to hear from the source material, something immediate and right there in your face, nice vocal mixing and use of effects.
  7. I love Neko and Brandon's track, clearly it has some humor to it as well as a strong presence and sense of desperation that fits a boss battle perfectly. Lyrics are excellent, ranging from short jokes to badass internal monologue from K-Rool. I think the vocals are excellent by death metal standards, they sound very professional. With all the elements of songwriting and production in mind I give it an A. Favorite section is the second verse at 1:32 after the melodic transition, vocals are ridiculously powerful there.
  8. I was working on something electronic and darkish for Raphael the Raven theme over the break but school has been destroying me so I put it on standby.
  9. Thanks for what you've said so far and sorry for digging up the millenium falcon of arrangements on my PC and dropping it here for you guys to deal with. This is a dry old junker that I was thinking about tossing out but I think with some work I can make something cool out of it. I just wanted to make sure you guys wont yawn when you see the source and walk away, haven't kept tabs on the buzz here in years. This mix is very dry, I haven't touched dynamics yet, let alone much EQ at all and some of the effects that I would like to drop in at a later point, i'm about to chop up the sorce melodies a little bit and work with them some, something I didn't have time to do when I constructed this during finals week. The only real panning is oboe 100% one way and flute the other, which I should drop to about 75% I think. And Garo the clipping you hear was an EQ mistake I made on the bassy end of things regarding the piano and harp, as well as a few doublebass issues if I remember right, i'm not going to hit the production end too hard until I have a few more minutes to this piece. Also, 3 movement MMX suite? yay or nay? Storm Eagle would be the opening section and I havn't picked a closer, probably not one of the maverick themes actually.
  10. I found this sitting around on my computer from a few months back, it started as a piano arrangement of the melodies in the Chill Penguin stage theme. I decided to try and lay down a full orchestra but after a minute I realized I've already tired out the main themes, which made me believe that a full orchestra 4-part writing style would lend well to a 3 movement Megaman X suite. Just haven't been able to decide if there's any merit in what I have so far so I need some advice on whether to break it down entirely and start over without directly diving into the song's melodies, or keep what I have. Obviously a Cmi piece like this wouldn't be a very good opener to a classical suit and I already have some work for Storm Eagle in the pipeline, I just want some comments on what I have before I keep moving on. http://www.tindeck.com/listen/nwvr
