  1. Over the past few days, I've been bummed overall with the lack of Mega Man games being released and the fact that the blue bomber was never put in UMVC3. So, I decided to do something about it.

Recently, I finished remixing one of my favorite Mega Man X5 themes of all time. It's the X Vs. Zero track. I added additional content to the original to make it work as a full Mega Man stage instead of just a boss fight.

The overall track has a different time signature, changes to the original arrangement, and about 40+ sec of new content. I was trying to balance this track between making it a little softer sounding than the original to use as stage music. At the same time, I tried to keep the energy up, so I could hold up as a Mega Man X theme for something like UMVC3.

I hope you like it, and thanks for listening to my music!

  2. Classic source.

I would suggest trying to fix the thin sounds using the instrumentation and such that's available rather than using compression. I can hear that the melodies tend to be buried behind the rest of the track, regardless, and the track sounds out of tune at around 1:08 - 1:24, so you should go back and fix those things, regardless.

Nice track, though - there's always room for more Ogre Battle.

Thanks for your feedback Gario. I appreciate it.

  3. One thing that stands out for me is the need for more dynamics, everything now seems to be playing at the same level :)

Thanks for the feedback. In this particular track, I used a smooth compression and mastering algorithm in Sound Forge 10 to finalize the track and give it a bit more punch.

If i only used the mastering setting, it would probably open up things a bit more, but it would come at the cost of making the track sound a little thinner I suppose.

  4. Recently, I've uploaded my own Castlevania remix album that covers Super Castlevania IV and a host of other 8 / 16-bit Castlevania titles. I hope you find something to your liking.

  5. This album is definately full of surprises. The instrumentation of the songs was great (I love the piano in the songs) and they had that "Castlevania feeling" in them. One of the songs that suprised me the most was Iron Blue intention, the chorus was an amazing touch, it was certainly something unexpected and yet fitting.

    In other words.

    It's awesome, great songs!

That particular piece of the track was done by taking 6 human voice phrase instruments and stringing them together to make it sound like verses.

Thanks Norman_Steel, I'm glad you liked it. :)

  7. Do you have a zip of MP3s, or any series of MP3s, of this music downloadable? YouTube is not my preferred music player. :)

Sorry, Jean. As of now I don't plan to release any of this content in any other format. I'm trying to keep this and my other remix / original material contained on one site for a sort of demo reel resource.

I've had some luck as of later with getting a 2nd game music product published, and I have a few prospects for some other stuff. I just hope against hope I can land some time of long term game job eventually.

    Even if I can't, I'll still keep trying. :-)

  8. I've really enjoyed listening to it. I bet that if someone were to need music for a new castlevania game, your music would probably could be used for it. It's that good.

I also subscribed only after only hearing the first song.

You sir are a true remixer, and I truly mean that.

Thanks, Korak! It's ironic to me that you say this because the one and only game company I've ever wanted to work for is Konami. I actually tried to submit this material to them for review, but their US branch wasn't very cooperative about remix submissions for use, resale as a music CD, or even as part of a resume submission.

My guess is a legion of people had a similar idea last year to do a 25th anniversary album, and they were inundated with calls and proposals.
