  1. I have them all as sepearte Wav files which takes an assload of space. But I can covert them to MP2, or maybe see if a zip file will drop the size any (I prefer wavs for obvious reasons). I can't do it right awat, but I'll have them ready by the end of the week.
  2. Thanks for the help man. I personally am just getting accustomed to Cubase, I used to use Soundforge, but Cubase integrates with my keyboard so thats what Im gonna start using.
  3. I made a cover of Rush's Subdivisions a while back and this is an improvement over my last video. I have a better performance down, but I think my mix needs work. I don't know anything about mixing really and I was mostly In the dark. I still have all of the individual tracks down as separate files if anyone wants to take a stab at it.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHHGwyUrAcw&feature=player_embedded Here is where I am now. Im basically a noob when it comes to tinkering with sounds, but I really tried to get as close to the original as possible with my keyboard and I'm just looking for some input to improve my performance. This isn't a final draft either. I know my timing is slightly off at point because I still have difficulty following the drums at certain points in the song.
  5. My friends and I are working on a cover for Subdivisions by Rush, and so I've been tinkering with my Yamaha to try and get the sound as close as possible. I feel that I'm 99% there, but I still don't think I have it right. Maybe it's how the song is mixed in the studio. I also need to find a midi for the drum track, there are too many tempo changes for a metronome. Here is my cover. I know it's not mint. I just made it for the sound comparison. http://www.mediafire.com/?tgco49t2xtwt7de Here is the original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu9Ycq64Gy4
  6. I'm probably going to upgrade some of my recording equipment before I do that. I've spent sooooo much time on this track that I need a break, this song REALLY pushes the limits of my abilities as a guitarist.
  7. Like I said, I hoped someone might hear something I didn't. I apologize. I'm still working on my mixing, it has improved if you've heard some of my older recordings. I'm working with some newer programs, but I'm still using older recording equipment to record with. It was a little tough getting the drums to sound like part of the song because they were recorded after the fact along with the solo.
  8. Okay, I've been working on this guitar instrumental for a whle now, and I originally intended it to be a FFVII BOSS Battle theme remix, but I've taken it it so many different directions that it barely has a trace of the original material left. The intro is probably the only thing thats even close. I posted it here because maybe someone will hear something I'm not, but I doubt it. Start to finish, this took me about 6 months. I wanted to make an 80's metal remix of the FFVII battle theme and I had to brush up on my gitar playing to get some of these parts down. I worked with a generic drum track, and eventually got a drummer friend of mine to lay a pretty good drums track on this. I was really impressed becuase drums are not generlly NOT an afterthought when making music. I had some help with the solo too. My former guitar teacher listed to an earlier form of this track and gave me some ideas which were very helpful. I had to practice playing the solo to a slower tempo until I got it right. The solo alone took me 2 months. And I really don't know much about playing the bass, so please go easy on the cheesy bass parts, Well heres the song Click here to download FFVII-GuitarHero.mp3
  9. For some reason, I cant even record a 5 second track without latency. I am really pulling my hair out on this one because when you actually perform the music on time. but it shows up out if time, I can't begin to tell yo how infuriating this is. I even anayised the whole piece, and latency exists throughout all 5 tracks. The latter half was recorded seperatley, and it's only 3 tracks so it's not nearly as evident. Anyway, Audicaty is a steaming pile of shi-- apparently, so I'll have to try some other programs. BTW, I'm running a 2GHz Dual core with 2GB of RAm with a Tascam digital audio recorder. http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=140
  10. My latency issue has worsened big time I cant even record a 5 second track now  This really sucks when you're actually performing the music, and not running through FL. I guess I'll try some other programs becuase the way I see it is that freeware or not, any program should be able to do it's basic function out of the box without adding a bunch of bullsh*t to make it work. http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=140
  11. Originally I was using a Soundblaster X-Fi, but Now I'm recording through a Tascam USB audio recorder.
  12. I think I discovered the problem. This time I was smart enough to save my files as individual tracks and I repalced the beat with the current one at the same tempo at the last minute. But Audacity seems to have a latency issue after recording so many tracks. http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23566 But it's no big deal becase the reas ot the song is fine so All I have to do is re-record the drum beat. I'll repost the video sometime later today.
  13. This one is older, I made it prior to finding out about this site
  14. Okay, I originally had a P4 3GHz with 1GB of RAM running my recording equipment. But the problem was the when I would record, I would have an issue with the recording being slower than the original performance. So my tracks wouldn't be in time with each other. This would happen after about an hour into working, and about 10 or 20 tracks have been deleted/modified. So I rebuilt this PC using an AthlonX2 3800+, and 2GB of DDR. And I just discovered that this issue still exists, but not as obvious as it used to be. It can be extremely irritating when this happens. So to prevent this, do I need to drop Audacity in favor of better software? Or are there setting that I can do to prevent this.
  15. Are you talking about the beginning being off time? I'm using a different time sig than the original. So some notes had to be changed which couild be why its different to what you're used t hearing, but the timing sounds fine to me. But I would prefer to keep the piece short only because no version of the theme has ever been much longer than 2 minutes.
  16. You are referring to the key changes during the middle of the song right?
  17. It's a remix of the Terminator Theme. It's played in many of the Terminator games, but because the theme originated in a movie, I doubt it would qualify. I'm just looking for feedback because I'm starting a new You Tube Channel for theme remixes/covers from games and movies. Its starts off slow and melodic, and turns agressive at the end. There is a key change from C#m to Gm. I think it went smoothly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uotEdBiYsxM BTW, I'm still working on Zero Wing, I just have to get some parts down well before I start recording.
  18. I have a Yamaha Motif XS8 http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMMOTIFXS8 And it's effects are nothing short of awesome, The clear tone, and acoustic guitar sounds are awesome,. but the distortion guitar effects mostly suck. Would it be possible to get a decent distortion guitar sound by using one of the clear tone effects, and hooking it up to distortion? I understand that the reason that the electric guitar effects don't sound right is becuase keyboards use digital sampling, and so the distortion isn't done through hardware like it is on a real guitar.
  19. basically I want to be able to write my music as standard music notation. I need a prorgram that will allow me to use any form of notation that exists. I suppose I could try the other method. but I was trained to read/write in standard notation, so thats how I think. It would also be nice to have somehing that could translate midi into sheet music,. becuase playing everything by ear sucks,.
  20. I have a Drum Machine, and the apreggiator on my keyboard also has some cool tracks,. But I suck at putting drums to my work. I could use some pointers as to how to put cool tracks together, or picking them out. Not to mention that it's hard for me to stay in time with anything other than a simple (metronome like beat). One of my zero wing demos is out of time because of this. Is it okay to play to a metronome, and then play the drum track later?
  21. Found the original http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=130 Here is an example of on of my solo works this wanst even mixed, the drums were too loud. but it was just 2 instruments plugged into a sound card while the webacm was recording.
  22. I lost alot of sound quality during youtube uploading. If I can find the original I'll post it.
  23. Thanks. I was literally just screwing off when I made this. it took about 2 hours to make. I'm not sure what to do with percussion. Im not even sure if it's necessary as it is a very sedentary piece. If figure I'll make the music a bit more progressive. And maybe work it's way to marchiing drum beat like in the original.
