  1. Aww, now I don't have an excuse not to spend time with the familly xD

Oddly enough, December is the least busy time of year for me. I already got everything done last month

Well, you've got an entire month to make a source Divine Wrath, so when we get back, it better blow our faces off! (You've read the rules and stuff, right? Must be a midi file, generally around 3 minutes etc.) Good luck :)

I suppose I'll just go back to lurking for a while then, since ORC is the only thing I seem to post in. Or maybe another compo will pique my interest, who knows? =)

  2. Yeah, there is (Though I only recently noticed the deadline wasn't actually the 15th), I just wondered what would happen with next month's source if there were no entries is all, and since I'm sure everyone's pretty busy with stuff (I know I am - I've got a crapload of exams) it's a possible case. Then again, will it be a christmas special, like halloween?

  3. *Tumbleweed rolls by*

Hmm, looks like there might be no entries this time round. I suppose it wasn't the most 'remixable' track, it didn't even have a particularly prominent melody.

So, if there ends up being no entries, does Sir_Nuts get to make the next source, since he won last month? Or would it be me again?

  4. I'd hoped for some more last minute entries...

Yeah, shame there weren't any more, The source was damn awesome!

For some reason I was expecting there to be loads of entries this time round, it is halloween after all. C'mon, where's everyone's halloween spirit?

  5. Hey, Jerry, that might give you some more time to produce something well done for the next compo.

Hmm... that's actually a brilliant idea. Though I don't think all the time in the world could allow me to make something "well done" when it comes to midi xD Still, it was good to actually get some practice in that area, midi has always kinda been where I lack in prowess.

Plus I've been fairly busy lately, so even finding time for this remix is a little hard. So far I've found the time to get a decent 1:50 of the remix done.

Oh, I can enter this, right? I mean, I did win the last ORC, but since my source isn't being used this month, I'm still allowed to enter?

(Besides, in the slim chance that I actually 'win', it would put everything back in order since I've already done next month's source, so it could fix the problem willrock mentioned earlier =D )

  6. Yup, completly english :-D Not sure if I should be too happy about that any more though, I hear our country isn't doing too well xD

Great, all seems to be working perfectly now. It's annoying having to convert all the channels back to midi-outs every time I want to test it, but it's still much more bearable then Anvil studio.

I also knew that the drum channel is 10, but for some reason it just seemed too simple to just set the channel to 10, so I never thought to try it.

Thanks for the help, I think I might be actually able to meet the looming deadline now =) Just don't go expecting a masterpiece or anything, it's sounding horribly mediocre at the moment ¬¬

  7. Christ, really? Well, I'm gonna have to speed up then. (Unless of course you were joking, but I take it you weren't?)

By the way, Protodome, (I suppose I could easilly just find some kinda tutorial on this, but there's no harm in asking, right?) How exactly do I get drums when using midi out in FL?

  8. Great, sounds easy. I'll just brush the many gnawed chicken legs off my piano and start from there (Chicken legs and piano - the source of many a creative tune xD)

And thanks for the tip, Protodome, this would've taken me ages in Anvil studio.

By the way, if I take too long, or pass whatever the definition of "Soon-ish" is, feel free to PM me or find some metaphorical (Or even literal if you wish) way of slapping me in the face, just to wake me up. I'm sure I'll be fine, but you never know.

Oh, and by "Before next month" You mean like in a day? it's next month in 2 days isn't it? >.< Gah, the pressure!

  9. Looking forward to your source next month! It will be awesome I'm sure...

    Great, no pressure then ¬¬

I generally use Anvil Studio for all things midi, but it's quite a pain to use. I suppose I could try and figure out how to make midi with FL studio, or I could just use another easier program. Any suggestions? (Oh yeah, and what date do I have to send it in by? Better yet, where do I send it? Even better yet, why the hell don't I just get this info from the competition homepage? Who knows...)

*Edit* Ah, the answer to the latter seems to be because the information is rather vague on the homepage. So do I just PM the midi to Doulife when It's done or something?

Sorry for being a complete 'noob' xD (for some reason I hate that word)

  10. Holy crap! I won? Damnit, it thought Gario's was way better xD

It was kinda repetetive I know, I intended to go back and add stuff and change it up a bit, but due to the unfortunate (And rather 'convenient') Laptop complication, alas I could not. (You may be glad to know that my laptop has made a reasonable recovery)

(Oh, and in response to the "Where's the panning and soundscapes" comment in the votes, I kinda went overboard with the file compression to fit the apparent 6mb limit, and seemingly the mild lfo on the lead, slight panning, and kinda-dynamic effects seem to have been lost - or at least dulled beyond recognition. Oh well.)

So, I'm supposed to make some kinda midi for the next competition now right? So, um... being a complete newbie to this place, what exactly is the system here for doing this? (And any standards on length, content, etc.?)

*edit* Oh, and now that you (Protodome I believe) mention it, I hear the slight mario reference, assuming you mean World 1-1 from super mario land on the gameboy. It wasn't intentional though.

  11. Oh, cool. I thought the hard limit was 6. Now I know it isn't,I can bend the guidelines in the future ;)

And /voted =] I am allowed to vote, right? I remember reading on the comp homepage that I can vote (As long as I don't vote for myself), though I can't find the page anymore, so I'm inclined to believe that it might have been a dream xD

Edit: *Facepalm* Found it. Who'd have thought that you could reach the homepage by clicking the big banner that says "Original Remix Competition"? xD
