  1. I like your whole channel! (your nyan cat rendition's unbelievable)

This one's a damn enjoyable piece, as well. I just think the first 1:18 min of the track has so much energy in it, I felt that it lacks something after the last flute verse. That said, when the fade-out ending comes, it sounds as if the song was incomplete. But that's it, I guess :P

  2. Yesh, let's \@/ You guys are awesome!!

Here's what I've done so far: EQ adjustments for fuller soundscape, a lil' bit of work into strings, taken off the echo effect from the bongos, replaced synths from 1:32 and 1:44 with cymbal crash and wind chimes respectively. If glock and guitar don't sound okay for your ears yet, I'll see what I can do later :P

    What do you think?

  3. I always wanted to be a musician of some type. Turns out that I played the drums - then quit. Started with acoustic guitar - quit. Then I went to keyboards - quit, then flute - quit. I mean... Wha? :lmassoff:

Yet, I wanted to make music! Looks like I'm not the guy who gets along well with actual instruments, and it took some time until I realized that there were many ways of doing fully orchestrated songs with machines.

I downloaded FL Studio in 2009, and this is when I first wrote music - a crappy Oil Ocean ReMix that got immediately rejected from OCR :P. But I'm such a curious and stubborn monkey, I'd learn how to use FL at any cost, and once I managed to understand the basics, Shiva Nataraja came. How this mix turned out to be accepted at my current level, I dunno, but it was SO exciting *-*

Then I really felt the weight of still being a newbie. What was EQ? Compression? Dry? Wet? How to humanize? Where to get better samples? Why do the demo projects use so many weird plugins attached to the instruments, and what do they do? The results: since my indian-influenced mix, I can count like... 8 NO's! Precious crits included, along with the help from the WIP forums.

Again, I'm a stubborn dude. Still don't feel like taking music classes, and still willing to have more mixes accepted here. This is quite a college for me already!

  4. XD Oh boy! I might try soloing on the next mix if I decide to go spanish, dun' worry ^^

Btw the old strings were from Miroslav Philharmonik, and no matter how I adjusted the attack settings, the ensemble cello samples seem to love playing in crescendo. There's the results, a free sample caught from somewhere around :P

Didn't notice the noise fighting with the glock... Too much reverb.

Fixed that, done some small extra touches, now to mods \o/

  5. Many, many thanks, guys!

I could also adjust the notes so they don't go away from the real range (thanks youtube "^^)! Done that, yet I decided to take (part of) the suggestion and applied a single bell to end things, instead of that low glock note.

Ugly strings! Yea, having some trouble with them. What about the new ones?

    *see update*

Also, moved them a bit to the right ;D

  6. First off, sorry if I kept you waiting too much!

Y'know what, I'm not the best jargon user either. :P By oomph tho, I just mean that snare lacks some TAH!, kick some BOOM! and hihat some TISS! (and some humanization, as far as I can hear). For snare and hihat, I'd say that's mostly the used samples' fault than EQ thingies.

As for the guitar, when the beat sets up, I actually feel like the harmony could have more focus on the lows, specially after such a killer (good!) n' heavy intro.

    ?

  7. This one's quite a little piece, but it's probably the most intimate mix I've already done. To sum it up, it's about feeling small and innocent, like a lil' child, towards a big and complicated world. He wants a partner, a family and a beautiful dream to come true; is it possible to have everything? Which of these can he give up on if it's not? He's pretty reluctant to walk and decide, yet he has to walk. Etc :P

    2:37-end => corresponds to 1:22-1:33 from source

Put some italian influences to this btw. Hope you enjoy ^^

  8. Olá!

That's some kickass intro you've got over there, and I was definitely expecting for something pretty crisp as I kept listening! Then, my problem with this starts exactly when the beat gets settled - drums come in, and they seem to lack energy. Kick could use of more oomph, snare and hihat too. Apparently the guitar goes backwards too? When those elements get mixed, the low-end gets somehow less noticeable.

Arrangement has some nice texture variations, and I really th_Emoticon_a-heart.gif that break at 1:20; the bass also sets up a killer mood for the comeback! So yeah, overall it's pretty good, but I'm just not too fond of how the lead guitar's written here - it has a cool sound, but that's quite an amount of soloing, which makes me wonder if the track doesn't need something else too keep the listener's attention to what's going on.

I do like the work on the theme too ^^

  9. Um, sparse. Enjoyable at the first minutes, but then it needs something else. But it's a WIP anyway XD

I found the strings to be very convincing until 0:52. There's abrupt pauses on those articulations as they play. You think it's possible to liquify 'em?

AH, I LOVE PIZZA \@/ Could hear that section forever!

Guitar's decent, but this is where I find things to lack spice. As you work on your WIP, give your energy to it! It's a pretty nice intimate piece ;)

  10. Happy Hardcore?! Woohoo!! I'm into it these days, y'know :-D

Gawd, what a heavy track. Such a bomby kick o.o! I wasn't sure about it at the beginning, but then the soundscape started to get filled and it seems to work. Mixing's pretty good! ^^

0:43-1:06, not too fond of that lead. Sounds pretty dissonant from the rest of the arrangement, and the way it's sequenced doesn't help out either. I'd try another synth, and, if necessary, change the melody here a bit. Also, after a moment, the left-right moving lazy synth gets me quite annoyed as it plays throughout the whole mix; I'd also take it out from some sections, like this one.

Some doubts about the 1:07-1:16 part... I dunno if it should be there, judging by the way the overall tracks flows. I expected for something like 1:17 and ahead, as the break implies further gain of energy. Could be me, though.

1:28-1:49, the ultra-saw gets things pretty crowded, kinda muddy. I'm actually okay with it, as the verse's another potential candidate for left-right moving lazy synth removal :P

    2:11, that lead I didn't like; lazysynthwarghblorghdjembeboom.

Not the best of endings; the crash doesn't need to be echo'd here, or, if it is, the feed tempo could be adjusted to the overall track tempo.

Oh, well. Some crits here :P, but you may see they're just asking for lil' changes. If I were to give another suggestion (mainly if you aim for OCR), though, you could also interpret the source more. Use your creativity to let the track give news to the listener and keep their attention caught. Dunno, add a synth soloing, have some variations on the original melody, something like that. Otherwise, this is pretty much my beach, coz I don't like to drink a cup of tea

  11. Hey yo, hi ho, go!

There seems to be problems with velocities in many places. Some leads come loud, others come fine. It's a bit like a seesaw, as the levels tend to be fine, then loud, then fine, then loud. Not sure if it's something about used plugins (like flangers or phasers), but it could also be the overcompression; still you might need to balance the levels from your samples. There's a moment when your windy sfx comes a bit loud, a lil' after the middle of the song, for example. And then it becomes seesaw party :P

But I like your track! You've filled the soundscape well, there's some tasty glitches n' arps, things never get boring and are very cohesive. If I were to revise anything, it would just be on production thingies.

Oh, if there's any compressor/limiter in your work, I'd recommend taking it out for now. Balance levels, easy on the left-right effects ;D

  12. 1 year... BUT, after the first accepted submission in 2010, there has been quite a massive amount of NO's :P

Guess my first mix was like, something random that went right. Apparently there's good news on the actual To Be Posted list, though, and I hope it gets better from now on '^^

  13. Yoompa-wee, this is an excellent cover! I'm surprised by how the genre works :D

Quite honestly, I've been looking at your other works on YouTube, and may I say, your electronic sound's smooth, and beautiful (I'm quite addicted to your Styles & Breeze - Future Set version). If I were you, I'd have a try at getting a mix posted here; you'll mostly have to work on interpretation of the original tracks, coz your work on the technical stuff sounds definitely solid! :-D
