Wow, I definitely need to read up on my Console Wars history. All I remember is growing up with my older bro's SNES and Genesis/Sega CD.
-
It's like 1994 all over again.
Woah. Was it that bad then, because I was way too young to remember that far back. I do remember SMW though.

Christians have a lot to learn from Islam about fasting; we say it's important but hardly anyone ever actually does it at all.
Damn straight. When we fast, we usually just call it that and replace meat with a fish fry. Now when the real hardcore fasters fast, (usually older people) they go on three small servings of bread and water for the entire day. They definitely show their dedication there.

If you are using a computer program to arrange your music, use the soundfonts in combination with a midi controller. If you want that sound for a live performance, all I can say is to try and get the MMX soundfont onto the keyboard, if that's even possible.

Laser Tag, only because I am very biased against paint ball because I was shot in the side of the head where the mask didn't so very fortunately protect me.
I'd say paintball, but I was found in a similar situation. The result was a full head mask, and a dedication to woodsball. The lasertag location near me is probably one of the best, but the one problem I have with them is that they spend too much time on safety and regulations to make it as fun as a paintball adrenaline rush. Now if someone could make a laser tag with minimalized rules, then they could easily make a fortune.

I haven't read from about 1000 to the end though, so maybe it picked up again.
It didn't. Not like you have that much farther to go though.

I used to read 8BT religiously, but felt it stagnated some point around the first battle with the Litch King. Maybe it's time I went back and finished it up.
Spent two days doing that. Its stagnant, boring humor hurt to read. Yet somehow I couldn't look away. My blame goes to the ever-nagging question of will black mage succeed. The ending was deserving of what the comic had become, not bad, but a huge anti-climax.

But the point is, Dragonball Z Kai is a REMAKE with all the FILLER CUT OUT.
Wait... so you're telling me my entire childhood was stolen from me by filler that wasn't even supposed to be in the show?
My life was such a waste...

Yes, yes we should. I wonder how many people here have it? Also, running around as Rinoa, Tassadar, or Megaman is awesome -- <3 custom models.
People still play that?

While I can't say I'm an expert in the era's of video game music, I can give a theory that I have come up with to describe what I feel has had the most influence on it.
A calculus teacher of mine once described "the holy trinity of classical music:" Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. Beethoven was seen as a composer who could wrap his mind around an idea and create a symphony. Mozart was able to instantly create music that was easily remembered, a true genius. Bach was a man who really put the emotion into the music.
I then applied that to whom I consider the "holy trinity of video game music:" Uematsu, Kondo, and Mitsuda.
Kondo has the gift of taking melodies and getting them recognised by a large amount of people. Look at Super Mario Bros. for example. I have seen parties stop just because somebody starts playing the SMB Overworld theme on a nearby piano. The parties then turn into a request for more. Kondo also did well for Legend of Zelda, which has just as much recognition as Mario.
Uematsu has music that matches the game very well. When playing FF7 for the first time, I actually felt like the theme from Cosmo Canyon actually belonged. Aeris's theme brought me to tears, although seeing her die brought me to tears as well, (because I wasted so much time leveling her up.) And I was thrown for a loop when I heard One Winged Angel, just because of the complexity.
Mitsuda has a talent of putting a story in the music alone. I heard the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, and was litterally blown away at the variety that was put forth. I then managed to fall in love more with the celtic sound of Chrono Cross. The point of his music is that you don't have to understand where the story of the game went to understand a general plot of the music itself.

Do you know what type of stage (or element) each boss is going to have? I'm trying to get a feel for the styles of mmx-style music you need for the levels.

First my older brother gave me a copy of a song 5 years ago, I didn't understand what OCRemix was due to my lack of internet at home however (The song was Metal Gear May Cry). Then was re-introduced by a buddy from school (Crossroads and Lunatic Moon).

Out of pure curiosity, would you prefer remixes or actual compositions for the background?
-
Remixinator final boss? It was the exact opposite of what the tans stand for: Automated copycat music.
So we have the sidescroller, what about the jrpg?
-
Final Fantasy 5 with the 4 Tans, and instead of Jobs you get Genres...
Berzerker would be METAL!
[bows down]
I'm all for Schala, Ice Cap and Terra summons? Also, what would that make the other genres?

Remind me to never piss off the atari in the basement.

Still, here's my favourite rendition:
Now everything makes sense.
Could it be that MC Hammer worked on the soundtrack for Sonic 3 as well?
-
Well, not really. I mean they are derivative works of copyrighted music, so we can't really lay a solid claim on them.
FYI they're also all still subject to the Content Policy.
Damn... I should have taken those classes in legalese...
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
-
Why? Who are you? How are you tied into this?
ARE YOU SKYNET!?
Just a man who sees the system. I am William Wallace!
-
I hope so. A lot of things in my daily life would make so much more sense than way.
(No, seriously, they really would.)
As long as it's not just me

Now that I've finally got a copy of FL Studios, I can become a part of OCR!
[Looks at computer screen]
You're posted on OCR; nobody new can achieve that anymore.[mouth gapes]

That it is completely OK for a 10 year old to roam the world, capture animals, make them fight for money, use that money to buy steroids for those animals in order to make more money, and use the animals to end crime rings and stop terrorists. Not to mention spend 5 years on top of a mountain.
