  1. *sigh*

"A real game being exclusively for Wii is like a Matisse..."

Why, Yahtzee, why? The review is pretty fair, though - he's got my feelings down, save for the seemingly necessary "Nintendo sucks and shouldn't have real games" that seems to get thrown in to every review he does for the Wii.

Why do you care? Yahtzee basically hates everything. Try not to take his opinion too seriously.

  2. I've excreted a few man-tears at a couple of games. Both Mother 2 and 3 have incredibly emotional endings and they know it. They have mastered the art of tugging on the player's heartstrings.

End of Okami, beautiful game and beautiful ending. It's a real shame that the wii version doesn't have the credits as I find it's a good time to reflect on your "journey" through the game. Lame, I know. :<

And of course there is Leisure Suit Larry when he finally gets the boobies. You'll want tissues on standby for that one. Uh... For your eyes I mean.... ABORT JOKE.

  3. No, Namco are not getting my money this time. They took WAAAAAAY too long to just announce that they had no plans to bring it to the US and then after a ridiculously long time now they saying they are?

And here in Europe we've been shafted when it comes to Tales games over and over again. I'm just not bothering any more.

With ebay and various other sources to easily import from, I don't see the point in a European release.. especially since PS3 is region free.

For HDTV users, yes. Some of us are too poor to make that jump yet. SDTV users are out of luck.

  4. It's Dragonball Evolution all over again. That crapped all over an anime classic and this is crapping all over a modern classic. I wish Hollywood would keep their grubby paws away from these things. >__<

    EDIT:

This video perfectly sums the movie up in comparison to the cartoon series in 30 seconds.

WOW, that fit so very, very well. Even Sokka's "But the effects were decent!".

  5. Agree with most of the titles you mentioned, but SO4 isn't all cliche. The characters may be unlikable to many, but they're not all cliche. And I don't think going to planet Earth of the past and ending up blowing it up before returning to the future is cliche. Tons of unique stuff in SO4..

And the way the main character becomes 'EMO' to most people, he became extremely rich and interesting to me.

PS: Not to pick a fight, but I pull my hair playing Persona, I've given Persona 3 a shot.. and I can't stand the whole school concept.. makes me sick to my gut.

You startin' summat, eh? *raises fists*

I haven't played Star Ocean all that much so judging by what you said, I'll let it slide. :P

And yeah, Persona isn't for everyone. It's different f'sure.

  6. To be honest, I'm just really tired of all these overdramatic JRPGs that often fill every cliche in the book. Star Ocean 4, Last Remnant, White Knight Chronicles and Infinite Undiscovery to name just a few. I feel they all have lame voice actors and generic plots and although it's hard to tell as it's in Japanese, I have a strong feeling The Last Story will fit right in with those examples, even if the gameplay looks pretty cool it's the story that makes or breaks a JRPG, which is a real shame.

The last truly good JRPG I played was Persona 4. Whilst graphically inferior to the examples I mentioned, it has so much more personality, originality and plays superbly to boot.

  7. Okay, after a lot of research I think I've made my decision. Pretty much every bit of hardware is what was recommended here but I thought I should just post it all up to make sure I'm not making any mistakes:

    Processor:

    Intel Core i7-860

    Motherboard:

    Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2

    Memory:

    G-Skill 4GB DDR3-1600

    HDD:

    WD Caviar Black 1TB

    PSU:

    Corsair CMPSU-750TX

    Sound Card:

    M-Audio Audiophile 192

    Graphics Card:

    EVGA e-GeForce 8600 GT 256MB

    Case:

    Antec 300

    DVD Drive:

    Summat like this.

For now, I'll be producing music with just software (Going to buy an M-Audio Axion 61 for that end.) but I will be recording sooner or later. Probably never more than one or two instruments at a time.

  8. Hey, I'm looking to buy parts for a PC and get it built so I can get serious about composition and production (Had the same crappy 8 year old Dell for too long now), so instead of spending hours researching all the different parts I thought I'd come here and get some pro advice on what motherboard, processor, graphics and sound cards etc. would be good for my price range. I see there's already some decent threads on monitor recommendations so no need to go into that but if there's any particular hardware outside the essential stuff that you'd consider important then please let me know.

My price range for everything is about £500-£700 which is about $750-$1,000 so it's some fairly hefty-ish cash I'm laying down here, hence why I need some good advice so I don't do something stupid. :)

    Thanks in advance!

  9. A damn good effort for sure. A lot of the Sonic 2 songs really vary so I don't agree with completely saying "This would not fit in with the other tracks".

Would be cool if someone could draw up some concept art of what they think the zone might look like. :)
