Well, bummer. There was a major lack of communication within Energy Tank headquarters, and I was under the impression that one of my teammates was taking on the bulk of our track. Wasn't sure until now whether or not anything made it in. For that person looking forward to a song from us, sorry.

I have been popping into the store once or twice a week for the last couple months barely talking myself out of forking over the cash to pick one of these up. Finally pulled the trigger with the Wind Waker set. All I've got right now is that and NintendoLand ($7!)
My ID is Xarnax42. (Go figure.)

Happy birthday, Chiwalker!

As far as timing is concerned I think the right time to do an album is when
1) Someone cares enough about a concept to pitch it.
2) Interested parties make time to create the music.
3) That's it.
If it just so happens that 5 different people start an album all from games in the same franchise at the same time, the timing is WRONG if they can't find people to cover all the sources and it's RIGHT if they can. Simple as that.
If you think under-represented tracks need some love, pitch your project with a strong concept and lure those remixers away.
I'd just need to get some of my pals to contribute vocals, heh heh.I got you, mang.
Generally speaking, I'm always interested in helping out anyone looking for a vocalist. If it's a style I'm not naturally suited for, I love trying to branch out and pull it off, and take no offense when you listen and say, "Ummmm.....no."
I love EDM too, not sure about making the entire album EDM based, but then again this is not my idea.Just want to add that whether its a genre I enjoy or not, I LOOOOOVE the idea of cohesive, niche remix albums, and I don't see nearly enough of them around here.

I definitely plan to expand on this (and learn a thing or two about production (and get better samples (and...cetera))), but I'm really excited by what I did manage to get done. Subbed. And now passing out.

Well, if Amph won't be that guy with you, I suppose I will. Two rounds of WCRG in the last 3 weeks haven't left much time for anything else. Will try and get a WIP going next week if nobody snatches it up.

Darke, please save this thread soon.
Thanks.

As usual, I'd love to be there, but am unavailable until 11 EST (EDT? I can never keep track) on weekdays.
Night owls, unite!

Try one of these.
EDIT: Or, of course, technomanga.

Well, production's rough, timing is loose, and I still want to add more verses, but I still think this might be the most promising thing I've ever done. Got it in with one minute to spare! Interestingly, I had the same problem as Tuberz - sore throat hasn't gone away since Friday. Saturday morning I was easily hitting C2 which is uncanny. Worked out great because it let me sing in the key I was already writing in. Might need to transpose and rerecord everything when I try to finish this. I actually won't be able to sing along to my own song.
Since I didn't have time to get the vox as crisp I'd like, here's some lyrics for y'all.
She was sitting on a swing in the morning rain, alone, mud skirting her dress but she didn't seem to mind.
He knew she was the one the moment that the sun
haloed round her hair, and she softly
smiled when she glimpsed into his eyes.
But then he turned away
Didn't have the words to say
Lost his chance but swore that day
Life's too short for holding back
He'd never have regrets again
It was some years later when he saw her again.
She had a man around her waist and a ring on her hand,
but he knew this time he had to let her know.
She had a moment of surprise when she met this stranger's eyes.
For the briefest moment he might be recognized.
She fought a glimmer of doubt before she gently let him go.

Well, I probably won't be able to wrap this up as nicely as I'd hoped, but considering I worked almost 60 hours in five days, I'm satisfied with what I've got. Should be able to add a little more substance and polish before I pass out.
Hopefully my first attempt with guitar samples doesn't offend anyone too greatly.

There are a few of us in #wcrg ready to get a listening party going. We'll probably get started at the top of the hour, SO GRAB THE MUSIC AND GET ON IN HERE.
-
The only one I ever played was "Thy Dungeonman". Still a classic.
Apparently, there are sequels, which I am going to have to go check out now.
-
I hope nobody minds more than one such mix.

I know you said you weren't sure if the piano needs any help from the flute, so if that's why they may or may not happen, that makes sense.
If it's an issue with Laura's busy schedule, you may want to see if bustatunez is interested.

Jason Covenant's entry last round for WCRG had Michael Jackson in the freakin' title. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to look that way one more time.
Also forgot to mention (as if there aren't enough already) that I'd be more than happy to contribute vocals for anyone needing them.
-
I think I have a winning idea for "The Street of Rage". Hopefully I can pull off something close enough in a week's worth of work to hold my claim.
(Seeing as I'm up in the WCRG next week and all...)

Also, I wanna give a shoutout to Xarnax42 for getting his first mix posted as part of Balance and Ruin!
Thanks! Must say, it came as a bit of a surprise. I thought album mixes still had to be submitted separately for front page consideration, and Calum said he never subbed it. In any case, it's pretty exciting. Next goal is a solo mixpost.
So, what do you guys say about a listening party at around 8 PM Eastern?I don't get home until 7 PM Alaskan (11 PM Eastern). If people can manage to wait until that late, that'd be awesome. I expect that's probably a bad time for a lot of people, so I'll at least be idling in IRC and can read through the chat when I listen alone all by myself.
Also, everybody - don't forget to vote for 3Penny Chorus and Orchestra tonight on America's Got Talent. DrumUltimA is the timpanist for the group!
-
I'm still miffed at myself for not turning in something more substantial for Round 3, but I gotta admit, once it was subbed I've been looking forward to seeing what you guys had to say in some reviews. It was a pretty slow week for them, but thanks a lot therex, rnn, and KingTiger. Although, rnn, I'm not entirely sure what you meant by "You're a trooper." It sounds like a good thing, though. Right? I can go with that.

DarkeSword, how many songs do you have?
After Monday's listening party:
[17:46] <@DarkeSword> I'll be in Maryland for Otakon this weekend
[17:46] <@DarkeSword> there may be SOME delays on sunday for source revelation
probably safe to assume music will be running a bit behind, too

There is a short story called "The Spider's Thread" , which is basically a Buddhist parable. Here's the Wikipedia synopsis:
The Buddha Shakyamuni is meandering around Paradise one morning, when he stops at a lotus-filled pond. Between the lilies, he can see, through the crystal-clear waters, the depths of Hell. His eyes come to rest on one sinner in particular, by the name of Kandata. Kandata was a cold-hearted criminal, but had one good deed to his name: while walking through the forest one day, he decided not to kill a spider he was about to crush with his foot. Moved by this single act of compassion, the Buddha takes the silvery thread of a spider in Paradise and lowers it down into Hell.Down in Hell, the myriad sinners are struggling in the Pool of Blood, in total darkness save for the light glinting off the Mountain of Spikes, and in total silence save for the sighs of the damned. Kandata, looking up by chance at the sky above the pool, sees the spider's thread descending towards him and grabs hold with all the might of a seasoned criminal. The climb from Hell to Paradise is not a short one, however, and Kandata quickly tires. Dangling from the middle of the rope, he glances downward, and sees how far he has come. Realizing that he may actually escape from Hell, he is overcome by joy and laughs giddily. His elation is short-lived, however, as he realizes that others have started climbing the thread behind him, stretching down into the murky depths below. Fearing that the thread will break from the weight of the others, he shouts that the spider's thread is his and his alone. It is at this moment that the thread breaks, and he and all the other sinners are cast back down into the Pool of Blood.
Shakyamuni witnesses this, knowing all but still with a slightly sad air. In the end, Kandata condemned himself by being concerned only with his own salvation and not that of others. But Paradise continues on as it has, and it is nearly noontime there. Thus the Buddha continues his meanderings.
One of the dungeons in Skyward Sword, the Ancient Cistern, is heavily influenced by this story.
