Newbie (1/14)

  1. I actually just took 2 tracks off disc 3 and replaced them with 2 new ones that I just can't leave out. Icon of Sinwave was a 6 minute track, so I replaced it with JJT's "Voices Broken" from F-Zero. And AmIEviL has been featured on the album quite enough, so I removed The Secret of Monkey Island song and replaced it with "Rebirth" by Gecko Yamori from King of Fighters. Seems more complete this way. Both games really needed a spot on the set. Just couldn't fit them on the first 2 discs. Still looking for some remixes from StarCraft, too. Forgot to mention that before.
  2. I'd definitely be on board with you, if you'd like. I'm just hoping someone remixes a song from X-Men for the Gamegear by the time you/we start it lol.
  3. I appreciate the response. As far as handhelds go, they weren't what I was focusing on for the album. The intro represents the Game Boy, though. And while I was a bigger fan of the Gamegear, the Game Boy was really the only portable system that had a HUGE impact on the video game industry. That is why it made the album. I know that there are a ton of other portables out there that deserve recognition, but I can't think of one song from the Atari Lynx (for example) that I'd ever want to hear again.
  4. I am brand-spankin'-new to these forums, but I've been following this site for the past five or six years. I've been collecting the best remixes I could find, enough to make a 60-track box set album called "From 8 Bits to 64 : The History of Gaming". However I had to leave a few titles out simply because I wasn't able to find any decent remixes of their music. This is how the album works...Disc 1 goes from the NES, to the Genesis, then to the SNES. Disc 2 goes from the arcade, to PC, to PlayStation, and finishes off with the N64. Disc 3 is called "Bonus Levels" and features songs from all systems. I had to make a third disc for the set, simply because I wasn't able to fit a lot of really great mixes on just 2 discs. For disc 1, I actually had to manually cut out a lot of the silent space before and after each track just to make them all fit on one disc. I'd love to share the ablum because I feel it really covers the major hits from every console (yes, I had to leave a few out) and it is composed of the absolute BEST mixes I found over the past 5 years. But I'm afraid to upload it seeing as how one or two tracks aren't exactly public domain. Here are the track listings: Disc 1: Nintendo Game Boy: 01.) Group X - Mario Twins Hidden Track : Sonic & Knuckles by SnappleMan I'm working hard on making a cover for the album, as well as a booklet. I've already begun documenting all of the games that each track represents in the booklet, and I'm researching the site for track documentation. I will not be writing that, simply quoting what the artists have said. I'd also like to include djpretzel's reviews if he's okay with it. Not all of the tracks were found on this site. A lot of them are from free-roaming artists that host their tracks on their Myspace pages and Youtube. Yet, a lot of them, like "Tetris" by Powerglove are from legit records. I'm not sure if I'd be able to share the album here with that being said. Anyway, the remixes that I'm looking for are here: Strider for Genesis: This was the game that really made the Genesis stand out for the first time against the NES. Would have made an awesome opening track for the Genesis section. I'm aware that there is a remix for the game on the site, but not one that would really work on the album. If it was a remix of the theme/level 1 music...I'd probably have used it. Comix Zone for Genesis: Being one of the last successful Genesis titles, I was hoping to close out the genesis section with this game. There's NOTHING online as far as a remix of any of this game's songs. I'm surprised, too, because the music in this game was awesome. Virtua Racing for 32X: I was hoping to use just 1 track from a 32x game and the first thing that came to mind was VR, but I can't find anything. Twisted Metal 1 or 2 for Playstation: This game was the reason I bought a Playstation. Twisted Metal 2 was just...god it was amazing. The music was freaking p.e.r.f.e.c.t. I was able to take SynthR's Twisted Metal DnB remix and add an intro and a conclusion, but it still doesn't cut it in my eyes. The effects I had to use were low-fi and the song is just too repetitive. It doesn't do a great job at representing one of the coolest franchises in console history. Crash Bandicoot for Playstation: I understand that this game could be really hard to remix. I've listened to Tangerine Channel and I just didn't enjoy it, so I didn't want to put it on the album. But being that he was practically the Playstation mascot, I was hoping to find something from the first game on here. I'm also aware that there is a thread requesting music from this game alone, but I figured I'd add my opinion in here. Penny for your thoughts?
