  1. North American Virtual Console releases today:

ActRaiser (SNES) - Part platform, part RPG, all classic

Kid Chameleon (GEN) - If you took the mask-gameply from Majora's Mask, and made it a platformer in the early days of the Genesis

J.J. and Jeff (T16) - Hey, let's take a game that has the same gameplay as Adventure Island, but when we port it to the US take out all the crude humor that set it apart in the first place

  2. I realize that itinerary is not set in stone. Regardless, would we be doing all that on foot, or using SEPTA? If we would be using SEPTA, may I suggest our meeting place be near where one could get tokens/tickets. [insert joke about hard to find clothespin].

And put me on the list, jerk.

Also, I'd be bringing a friend, and while he hasn't posted here in years, he has ormgas on something like 24/7, and joined before I did

  3. i liked pats

i have eaten at jims as well

    where should i go

also for anyone who is gonna be in philly that friday i am probably gonna see fantastic 4 with my friends at some theater there

    where should i go

If you've been to Jim's the only other place I'd say is Tony Luke's, that and any little known street vendor. Pat and Geno's are like the Madden of cheesesteaks, just because they're popular doesn't mean they're the best.

As for movie theaters, I'd only been to the Riverview Plaza and The Bridge, I'd definitely recommend the latter over the former.

I hope I'm not going to be tour guide again, I don't even live there anymore.

  4. North American Virtual Console releases today (unconfirmed since I'm at work)

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES) - They just want us excited about Pirates for the movie this weekend

Streets of Rage 2 (GEN) - I had an awful dream, there were streets, and rage...

Blazing Lazers (T16) - Another shmup? Go ask The Coop about it

  5. North American Virtual Console releases today

Pac-Man (NES) - Teaching our kids the more you eat, the more points you score. The true source of child obesity.

Ninja Gaiden (NES) - Ninjas, demons, and extreme difficulty, just like the Xbox version. Although the original is missing the blonde girl in bondage gear.

Ninja Spirit (T16) - Contra with ninjas, multiple hit points, and the options from Gradius

  6. North American Virtual Console releases today (sorry I'm late)

Might Bomb Jack (NES) - A Toture room, and rated #14 on the worst Nintendo games on some site, what's not to love?

Final Fight (SNES) - Well more 'final' than fantasy I suppose

Ordyne (T16) - A shmup on the Turbografx? There's something new.

  7. North American Virtual Console releases today:

Castlevania (NES): Back in the day when it was linear

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES) The first American release of the series, before he changed his name back to Goemon

Shockman (T16) Not a robot master

  8. Empire Arcadia is (are?) the shit, but yeah, you guys pretty much summarized what's wrong here. This might be a good idea if JT or somebody tried to pin the shootings on games, but thus far noone's really made that the thrust of their argument. There's good cause for that, since dude was in fact not a gamer, and they found zero games in his dorm. Nonetheless, if somebody tried to pull some serious BS (and Mr. Thompson has done so before,) then a gamer-based demonstration of some sort might not be a terrible idea.

  9. North American Virtual Console releases today:

Gradius III (SNES): Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A BOOM

Wonder Boy in Monster World (GEN): Another in the line of fun, though confusingly named Wonder Boy series

Battle Lode Runer (T16): A sort of bastard child of Dig Dug and Bomberman

  10. This is the reverse of what people like Jack Thompson do. Jack Thompson uses tragedies to portray games as evil. These folks are using a tragedy to portray games as good. I personally don't see any difference. Using a tragedy for your agenda is using a tragedy for your agenda no matter how you look at it, especially since games haven't really been dragged into this thing, aside from that initial interview with Jack Thompson that no one outside of the game community cares about.

I was sort of thinking that way too. Which is why my original post was "what do you think of this" and not "hey go do this".

  11. North American Virtual Console releases today:

Punch-Out!! (NES) - Nigga stole my bike!

    Virtua Fighter 2 (GEN) - Don't have a PS3 to play 5? Get nostalgic and play 2

Bonk's Revenge (T16) - More headbanging caveman action

  12. My brother who manages a local video game store says Brawl is supposedly coming out sometime in June according to his suppliers. This could just be a residual of an older record and he's not sure how concrete the info is. I was wondering if anyone else has heard or seen anything similar to this?

EBGames has it for June 1st. They have a bunch of games for June 1st. Basically it's just some random date they put in down the line so they can start taking reserves.

  13. How come I didn't get a bag of stuff when I [played space invaders]?

Well you got to hang out with the composers and have pizza afterwards, so you really can't complain.

Well, sounds like I can't go wrong if I decide to go - does anyone have anything negative to say about the show?

I just remember the guy sitting to my left was a complete jerk. Acting all high and mighty because he ran some website.

Serious though, I remember them messing up the Castlevania medley.

  14. North American Virtual Console releases today:

Galaga (NES) - First game I played on my PlayStation, since it was the loading screen for RIIIIIIIDGE RACER

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (GEN) - The only Alex Kidd game we'll get on VC, unless they release master system games

Bravoman (T16) - If Parodius were a platformer

  15. I was thinking about getting WarioWare: Smooth Moves, but I heard that it's a disappointment. What do you guys think? Is it worth getting? It's either that or Trama Center.

I'd probably rent it first. I'm a huge fan of the series and blew through the game in a day and unlocked everything the next. There aren't as many extras as Touched or Twisted though.

  16. North America VC releases today:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES) - I was a week late

    Starfox 64 (N64) - DO A BARREL ROLL

Dragon's Curse (T-16) - Take your pick of title Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, or Wonder Boy in Moster World II, or just Dragon's Curse I
