Deadline for submissions is Feb 15, so submit tracks to megabeep@hotmail.com today! To mark the release date there will be a radio listening party on the 8Bit Power Hour ( http://www. areciboradio.com ), Monday Feb 20th at 8pm.Host Obtuse will play tracks from the compilation, as well as a preview of an upcoming Megabeep release, so don’t miss it! Stay tuned, and thanks to all that have gotten involved! http://megabeep.wordpress.com
  2. Just interviewed Alex Mauer over at Megabeep. Nuff said http://megabeep.wordpress.com
  3. I just started a segment at the Megabeep's Youtube account. Every couple weeks I'm gonna pick a classic game tune, transcribe its bass part and teach it in a video. Kicked it off with a tune from Super C with some fun slap bass parts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmdEqyBllSk
  4. Here's another track from the Megabeep Compilation One, a progchip powerhouse from contributing artist Mook Senior. http://megabeep.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/megabeep-comp-teaser-2-banana-scallop-by-mook-senior/
  5. Sadnes is a musician who seamlessly weaves 8-bit into the singer/songwriter idiom with a heavy grunge vibe. Check out my review of his debut release Fill My Head over at megabeep: http://megabeep.wordpress.com
  6. I got in touch with chip pioneer Shawn Phase to discuss his unique sound, the emergence of the chip scene, and it’s future. http://megabeep.wordpress.com
  7. To launch Megabeep on Youtube here’s a sneak peak at the forthcoming Megabeep compilation. The tune is my own contribution, a track called Overture which previews a record that I will be releasing later this year. The Megabeep compilation is shaping up to be a great release with contributions from some of my favorite chip artists including Disasterpeace and Prizmatic Spray. It’s is slated for Febuary or March release and slots are still available. So read the details in my previous post and submit your music to megabeep@hotmail.com today! http://megabeep.wordpress.com/2012/01/09/megabeep-compilation-teaser-megabeep-is-not-on-youtube/
  8. Thanks! Yea C-jeff is great, he is most likely contributing a track to the first Megabeep compilation release that will be coming out early this, so keep an eye out for that!
  9. Over at my blog I just reviewed Preschtale, an excellent new release from chip composer C-jeff. Album comes out this weekend-- get an early peak! megabeep.wordpress.com
  10. Excited to announce that Disasterpeace will be contributing a track to the upcoming Megabeep Progchip Compilation! He's a fantastic chip composer I have written about at my blog, check him out! http://www.disasterpeace.com jmr: please do, and thanks for spreading the word! Meteor Xavier: You're probably right, I was just thinking it would be nice to market the record as a kind of Megabeep exclusive, in order to add to it's value for just a few bucks. But if you have a track to submit that has had some limited exposure on a free compilation, if I liked it enough I would still probably include it. So, if you find the time, please do send something along: megabeep@hotmail.com Thanks to both of you for your interest, and be in touch!
  11. More info at the blog: http://megabeep.wordpress.com Make chiptunes? Want some free promotion? I’m gearing up for the first ever Megabeep progchip compilation. Whether you’re a seasoned tracker or an ambitious newcomer, Megabeep wants your chiptunes! Here’s the basic idea: The record will be a collection of tunes from various artists that celebrates the progchip style. It will be a combination of established artists I have reviewed here at the blog, and newcomers discovered through this outreach. The record will be sold online dirt cheap and the modest proceeds will help Megabeep grow into a net label! Aiming for release sometime early in the new year, January or Febuary. To submit music send links to web hosted audio or files via e-mail to megabeep@hotmail.com (mid-quality MP3 files please). I’m flexible on style and level of production quality, but submitters should keep in mind the following guidelines: -Submissions should be original, no covers, remixes, or anything I will get in trouble for publishing -Submissions should be “progressive” in some sense. That means the music should be ambitious or innovative in either musical composition, style or genre, OR production quality. -Hopefully submissions do not already appear on a free compilation– if the tune is available elsewhere for FREE, then there’s little incentive for readers to pay a couple bucks. All the licensing details will be discussed on an individual basis leading to a written agreement that guarantees all rights are retained by the artists, and that Megabeep has ONLY the right to sell the track as part of the compilation. Thanks for your interest and good luck! John of Megabeep
  12. In the latest Megabeep Artist Interview Prizmatic Spray talks all about his work, from how he makes his chiptunes to what inspires them. megabeep.wordpress.com
  13. Disasterpeace, one of the best chipsters around, talks shop in the latest Megabeep Artist Interview; Check it out! megabeep.wordpress.com
  14. Thanks guys, you're right I'll keep the blog discussion within this thread. Is there perhaps a way to change the title when I have a new review? Sorry for the noob questions, long time chip musician, short time blogger. Obtuse: Thanks! Yea I was really impressed by the DJ Cutman/Spamtron, the bes thing for me was how much they respect the original tunes; they left the melodies and changes almost completely in tact, just amped it up with those huge beats. Really good stuff.
  15. Question: is it considered spam if I create a new thread for every new chip music album review at my blog? I'm here to discuss, not just advertise and these could potentially be separate active conversations. On the other hand I don't wanna be seen as spamming. Thoughts?
