  1. Brilliant, thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback, I feel like I have a much clearer idea of what I need to be working towards.
  2. Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and provide such detailed feedback, really appreciate it!
  3. The Tal Tal Heights theme has always been a favourite of mine, the sense of courage it inspires is amazing, despite the fact it was being pumped from the tiny speaker of a gameboy. This is my first remix which I've been working on for a while now, and it's got to a point where I need some fresh ears to take a listen and see what else can be done with it. I'm particularly looking for feedback about the transition/drop section, at the moment I feel like it doesn't flow as well as it could and I'm unsure about what to do with it. Apart from that any feedback at all is welcomed and appreciated, so thank you if you do listen! https://soundcloud.com/awakening-link/scaling-the-heights
  4. Nice remix, really enjoyed it, brought lots of memories back! Not much to add really, all I would say is perhaps bring the kick drum into the mix a bit more, and possibly push the bass synth up more as well (just a tad). Awesome remix though, well done!
  5. Very cool remix, I see you've worked hard on it. As mentioned just keep an eye on your compression/limiting and EQ'ing, the kick drum throughout suffers from a bit of high end pop/click, so you may want to try shaving that off with the EQ. Overall though just look at getting a nice smooth mix and don't lost the melody. Great job though, well done.
  6. Really nice remix, has that very fun, fast pace kirby-esque vibe to it. You should try looking at filling in the bass sounds just a tad more, particularly from around 0:30-0:50. Something like a subtle synth pad could do the trick. I think you could also try adding in a plucked sound throughout, I had in my head a plucked violin/cello sound. Finally, if you wanted to add a trumpet section in then you could do so with gentle crescendos following the basic chord progression. I find brass can be very difficult to achieve a nice sound, and this piece won't suffer without it, so don't get too hung up about that. All in all a fantastic remix that could well be near completion, so well done!
  7. Really interesting interview actually, nice to see video game music being taken seriously. Like you said, out of the technical limitations comes some of the most interesting pieces. Congrats!
  8. Based on what you've mentioned, I'd say either Reaper or FL Studio would be a good choice. Both have demo versions available and are relatively cheap if you do decide to go with a full version. As for that site, the link is indeed dead, but you get redirected to a site selling sampling and loop packages, rather than full DAW's.
