  1. Is anyone else going as nostalgia crazy as I am by reading this thread? Damn.

A-Ron, for a guy who consistently preaches to take the high road above foul language and immoral subject matter, you throw out a staggering amount of nonconstructive, personal insults (aimed at certain people already mentioned). Fight the good fight if that's your thing, but it's all for naught with the haterade you bring with it.

  2. Ahoy all. Some of you may know me, some not. (Mostly those who've been to any East Coast OCR meet-ups.) But either way, I'd really appreciate just a minute or two of your time to answer this short survey about net neutrality. It's going to a good cause -- my education!

Feel free to post or PM answers. Any comments, lemme know! :-)

    1. How important is it to you that the internet is generally the same experience, no matter what broadband provider you use to access it?
      a) Very important
    2. How would it affect your overall internet experience if, depending on your broadband provider, certain content and applications performed better/quicker, and others performed worse/slower?
      a) Very negatively
    3. How would it affect your overall internet experience if, depending on your broadband provider, certain content and applications were totally inaccessible, and others performed MUCH better?
      a) Very negatively
    4. How competitive are broadband prices in your area?
      B) Competitive
    5. How many broadband providers can you choose from for home computer access?
      B) Three
    6. Think of the fastest broadband available to your home. How many other broadband providers offer similar speeds to your residence?
      c) Two
    7. Which practices do you think to-the-home ISPs should not be allowed to engage in? Choose all that apply.
      a) Prioritizing selected low-latency apps such as voice, video, or games
      B) Selling content- and application-providers higher priority access
      c) De-prioritizing applications and content that don't pay a fee
      d) Blocking applications and content of their choice
    8. On privacy grounds, what do you think of ISPs classifying and prioritizing the types of internet content you send and receive?
      d) Stop peeking into my packets!
    9. Which best describes your relationship with computers in general?
      d) Eager enthusiast
    10. How familiar are you with the technical workings of the internet?
      c) I can ping a server!

You're going to get some pretty skewed results by asking this on the internet. I hope you have other ways of conducting this survey in mind. :)

  3. So rather than assisting someone else in their problem, you're instead going to act like you're five and lord your supposed superiority over their head?

    Classy.

Hey man, tone it down. This kind of crap is way out of line, and it's not needed here. He volunteered that he knew something, but isn't explaining it for a perfectly valid reason. It's not like someone asked atmuh specifically how to do it and he's taunting it in their face, alright?

  4. I for one enjoyed seeing the Yankees lose opening day.

    You and me both.

I gotta say that it's a great time to be a Phillies fan. I type this as the season opener is about to start, and I'm more pumped than I was for this season than I was for last season (after the World Series win). We've made big changes and have some people hurt already, but I can't help but have high hopes for the Phils.

  5. atmuh's right in that you can avoid multiple deaths while playing as a Medic, but actually being a credit to the team while surviving that long takes some serious practice. You can easily stay out of harm's way if you retreat early, but that often means losing a point instead of successfully defending it.

Custom Achievement tally so far: 6 Yays, 3 Nays, and 2 Mehs. I want more people to chime in on this.

  6. I dislike the idea of custom achievements. I could list the reasons already given by others, but instead, I'll mention the ones that actually matter:

It doesn't sound like this is very flexible... it can count kills with certain weapons or classes against certain other classes (or anyone), plus a few specials, like Ubers, headshots, backstabs, and buildings built. And nothing else.

Take a look at the screenshots in this post and you'll see there are WAY more variables than that. Each section under "kind of achievement" has a longer list of variables, and you can combine multiple conditions to create some pretty awesome achievements.

  7. sorry to interrupt this discussion about this plugin but i have something to relate

16:41 | <<atmuh>> so i was driving home in traffic

16:41 | <<atmuh>> and this idiot in front of me was going so slow

    16:41 | <<atmuh>> so instinctively said

16:41 | <<atmuh>> will ya just lets go

    16:43 | <<atmuh>> and then i had an idea!

16:44 | <<atmuh>> i had idea that people from ocr should make a complete 9 class soundpack 1 person per class

    16:44 | <<atmuh>> i think that would be funny

would anyone actually do that (i fixed my mic and would be the scout)

you could have fun with it and do something crazy like

(although i could do without the swearing)

    a2z4 could do every class.

Kidding aside, I would think this would "scare people away" from the server more than custom achievements would (referencing the comment about minimizing server addons). I could see its uses for an OCR only day, but our regular attendance has been slowly dwindling, so even then it wouldn't be used enough to warrant the effort.

I could go for custom achievements if the presentation is flawless and it doesn't seem like a cheap addition to the server.

The only thing users would see in game are A) "Player has earned the achievement Custom Achievement." when players earn their achievements. Additionally, a subdomain would be put on www.ocrtf2.com for players to track their (and anyone else's) progress on the custom achievements.

  8. I have already compiled a list of about 30 custom achievements from suggestions in the old thread (when the plugin was still in development). A few might need tweaks, but I think it'll be a good starting point if we do decide to add the plugin. I'm mainly looking for "I want custom achievements" or "I don't want custom achievements" and why or why not.
