I'm sharing this purely for your guys enjoyment and for fun, and will never submit it to the site, for the reason that it is purely a cover of the song. The instrumentation and arrangement is basically the same as the original, it's just that this one has real guitars and more realistic sounding synths. Enjoy. https://soundcloud.com/jacob-martin-28/x-1

Lol, thanks for explaining that.

Sure thing guys.

Hello, I'd like to offer my services as a rock/metal guitarist. Here's some of my video game covers (they are more covers than remixes, but all these guitars are me) Mega Man 3 Title Screen and Top Man. And here's some non-video game covers I've done to show you some of my other ranges: Alteration and Hades by Kalmah, Follow the Reaper by Children of Bodom, and Behind Space by In Flames. (I've done some other classic rock songs as well, but for the purposes of demonstrating some of my abilities I thought it was better to share some of the more technical ones)

Feel free! I can learn songs really fast, so send them my way! I don't know if you looked at my soundcloud page any, but I've done about 30 covers all within the last year, 95% of which I didn't know how to play prior to recording. Most of them aren't video game related though. I like to take rock/metal/songs that aren't rock or metal and meld them into rock/metal, often times replacing the vocals with guitar lines that mimmick the vocal melodies.

Ah. No worries, I already made it, it's not like I made it specifically for this site or anything. It's of two songs from the Final Fantasy game Mystic Quest for SNES. (Subpar game, great music). It's modeled after a medley/arrangement that came if you bought the official soundtrack CD. It too is more of a cover, but again, that's really all my intentions are. I feel like the songs are already perfect, and could just benefit with better synths and real guitars. (If you can't tell, I'm a guitar player more than anything else. ) Here's the thread I made for it in case you're curious. I've thought about offering guitar services for other remixers. For example if they have made an arrangement for a remix or something that calls for a live guitar part but they can't play guitar I would record myself playing it for them and send them the unprocessed track and let them mix it and whatnot.

The instrumentation actually does not change, but I do agree that it could be smoothed out a bit, although of all the people I've had feedback on it from other places you are the first to complain about it. (not getting upset or anything, I agree that it could be smoother, it's just that since nobody else had pointed it out I was hoping it was just one of those things that only I would notice. ) I've updated the link to the version on my soundcloud page, it has the middle section remixed to try and sound closer to the opening and end segments. I will agree that it's more of a cover than a remix, but that's all I really want to do. I take songs from video games that I already like just how they are and just wish had real guitars, and make it so. Like my mega man covers for instance. I already love the feeling and feel like they are composed perfectly, I'm not going to change them just for the sake of changing them and remove the magic. I just think they sound better with real guitars. I already know that isn't what this site is about, I just thought I would share my stuff so that people might enjoy them.

Yes, I understand. I have one remix that might qualify for inclusion on this site, only because it's a medley of two songs. But I just think Mega Man songs are written perfectly and all they need is real guitars. I'm considering making an albums worth. But yes I mostly share here because I feel like I have a talent for making covers like this, but I can't seem to get anybody to notice. Of course I make them for myself, but considering the amount of work put into these it'd be nice to get some sort of recognition. I put this one on youtube and it has like 5 views wtf!

I appreciate (and agree with) the feedback! Although there is no tambourine... I assume you are talking about the hi-hats then? Or there is some parts that have a "ride bell" sample that I suppose, with the busy way this track is mixed, could be confused with a tambourine. Also, but being too conservative for submission purposes, are you saying that it doesn't change enough of the song structure to be on the site? Other than changing up the arrangement slightly on each repeat, I just found the song too perfect to change. It's a shame songs like this can't be included on the site. (not that I'm criticizing or complaining about the site, it is what it is). Sometimes songs (particularly Mega Man songs), at least I feel like, are already perfect and merely need realistic instruments (or actually real in the case of guitars) to make them shine. This one for example, anything I could have done to the song structure I feel like would have detracted from the magic.

You need compression on the individual tracks in a recording or it will sound like an indistinct mess. Especially guitar and bass, drums also need light compression. Listen to 70's rock music and you can tell even then that the individual tracks have compression on them by how smooth the guitars sound. Where people mess it up is by then applying an unnecessary and obnoxious extra layer of compression to the mixdown afterward to make it louder. Of course this is only my opinion.

If it isn't too much trouble I'd like a review on this and some of my other tracks, but I will only tag one of them at a time so the mods don't get too much of a headache from me.

finished Mega Man 7 - Intro Stage Metal

Nice. I like it. The only thing I really don't like about it is the drum sound, but the guitars and bass were cool. I love Mega Man music. -
This is a medley, HEAVILY inspired by a medley/arrangement that came on the original official soundtrack to this game when it came out, of the songs "Doom Castle" and "Lava Dome" from Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest for super nintendo. All guitars and bass performed by me. Sources: Doom Castle and Lava Dome. And Finally, Mystic Quest. Enjoy.

Mega Man 3-Title Screen Rock Remix
Possessed replied to Possessed's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I've updated the link to the version on my soundcloud page, which in addition to having much better sound quality is a little more current... the most noticeable difference being that it has real bass instead of programmed. And there is more of me, I posted a remix of Top Man done much the same way. I made it in the same time period so it still suffers somewhat from unclear sound, although it is significantly more clear than this is which is quite an accomplishment considering there's even more going on in that one than this one. -
Mega Man 3-Title Screen Rock Remix
Possessed replied to Possessed's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Thank you! And yes I completely agree that it is somewhat muddy. I actually plan on re-recording just a few of the melody lines once the "faster" section starts in with a less distorted and more 'creamy' sound to closer match the sound of the NES saw wave, that might clear things up a bit. Not going to redo any entire parts, as there are parts that were spontaneous and could never be duplicated (some of the wah-pedal screams were completely improvised and I could never do them again) But as you said, there's a lot going on, and I just don't think I can sacrifice any of it. -
Mega Man 3-Title Screen Rock Remix

Ouch, thanks for pointing that out. Apparently I forgot to indicate that the protocol type was https. Weird how it linked to another video pertaining to Mega Man 3, one which I've not seen before. :S -
My rock cover of "Top Man" from Mega Man 3. Heavily inspired by Finnish MeloDeath Metal, although still in 'Rock' form, not nearly so metallic. Source Top Man.

Hello all, first post here. I'd like to share my rock remix for the Title Screen in Mega Man 3. It's the first video game music cover I ever did, I did it over a year ago and I've done numerous ones since then but I thought I'd start at the beginning. I know the production is a tad rough, but I've improved since then , both in guitar ability and production. but I don't want to share too many at once. Just a little bit about the remixes I make. I tend to do rock remixes of game songs that seem to already be intended for a rock sound but couldn't achieve it due to chiptunes and poor synthesizers. I do alot of Mega Man and Mega Man X for snes remixes. The arrangements tend to be pretty close to the originals, just with real guitars and better synths for the rest. I don't like to betray the instrumentation of the originals, most of the synth textures are still there (just with better quality) and with guitars on top of them. I've also done "Top Man" from Mega Man 3 but I'll share that later. Without further delay, Mega Man 3 Title Screen.
