That's funny. I was just considering switching from DSL to Time Warner cable internet, but if that's the kind of crap they pull, no thanks.

I bought a PS2 simply because my DS got me addicted to Disgaea, and I just had to play Disgaea 2.

Now you can go to the Systembolaget! YAY!

Yaarrr, thank ye fer' remindin' me, matey.

Well, that's a relief.

I asked my sister about the "PEARLS" thing. She beat the game before me.

So... how's that DRM? Is it as bad as everybody is making it out to be or is it not that much of a problem?
I've not noticed it.
Some new things I heard. Contrary to some rumors, if you reinstall on the same computer, it won't count as another install. However, it is true if you have upgraded the RAM, video card, or something like that, and then reinstall it, it will take another one of your installs. So, it's a mixed bag.
I don't know how bad EA's support may be if you use up your 3 downloads

Space is fucking hard! I can't keep up with where all of the systems are. Takes me forever to find what I need. But I love it!
There are a few HUD toggles on the lower left corner of the screen. If you click on Missions, there is usually a red circle indicating the general area of the star system you need.

Going the religious route in Civ is super easy, especially if you were Social in creature stage. You just build a successful city and spam your vehicles (mine is the pope mobile) at the opposing team. If anybody gives you too much trouble, use the Diplo Dervish power and they'll stop attacking for about a minute.
I went through the first 4 stages again on Hard mode trying not to kill anything.

The game met my expectations. And I read a lot of the hype. I was mostly interested in the designing aspect of the game, and while getting something to work just right is a tad hard, I've had a lot of fun on that side. As for the first four stages of the game--it did get a tad bit tedious, but I wouldn't mind playing through them again going a different route. I just started the Space stage and I've been having fun with that.
Sure, it's not the game to end all games as some believed it would be. They exchanged depth for breadth, and I think that may be what you want to focus on.

So, yeah. I set aside the entire day for Spore, and I must say, I am not disappointed. Now I just have to concentrate on school for the rest of the week. This will be hard.

Video game music has pretty much become mainstream in Sweden. Anyone here who is geniuenly interested in music is bound to be at least a bit familiar with it, and find it appealing. There was a show on national radio a few years ago dedicated to VGM and chiptunes, and there are nightclubs playing it occasionally. Though the radio show is over, I still hear Mario and Mega Man music being used as jingles every now and then.
I wish I knew this back when I was in that far off land. I would have been pumping up the volume.

I'm more than a bit baffled as to why they would decide to do this now? I mean, the series ended its run in Japan back in '99. I guess the fairly recent mainstream attention the series has gotten in the US would warrant it, but still...
In the same light, why did they make a Speed Racer movie just now? That series was long over for a while.

Live action anime? I hate to be a purist, but I don't see it working. I can only hope that I come back after it comes out and say "Okay, I was closed minded. They can pull this off very well. I underestimated them." But I have a hunch I won't need to say that.

Happy djbirthday, p.

bLiNd, I hope you feel well soon and heal.

I've beaten the game twice, but your descriptions make the game sound so much deeper than I have realized.
I'll have to beat it again!

earthbound
I concur, sir.

Cumquat!
First Tim and now George. It's a sad month.

Yeah, but you should definitely give them crap on their support system so they know DRM is worthless. I just feel sorry for the telephone representative that has to listen to all of the crap their company does.

Get ready to bring out some... "specialized apps" when you're screwed...
Shame too as I'm interested in messing around with it...
Yeah, that's screwed up. DRM will be the death of computer gaming. If I run into that error with Spore after purchasing it, I'll have no moral problem with finding another way to play the game.
You don't get this kind of crap with console gaming. You can use your disk on as many consoles you want and even resell them later or trade with a friend. Though I'm sure some game industry baron would love to stop that too.

I am a little depressed. I am in Europe right now, far away from my gaming desktop back in the States. It would seem my lil' ol' laptop is not powerful enough to run Spore. Which is sad. Apparently my video card is not approved. It pops up the message when I run it that my computer does not have the right specs.
I don't know if I can last 17 days without tasting just a little Spore.

What I don't like is that they are looking out for ripped media.
I buy my DVDs, I buy my music. What I don't like is somebody telling me that I can't store that on this device or play it on this computer.

I used to watch G4 back before they cannibalized Tech TV.
Unless they relaunch Tech TV, I won't be very happy with G4.
NFL Playoffs

I gotta say. I really didn't care who won the NFC yesterday, but it reminded me of how much I hate the NFL's overtime rules. Sure, NCAA rules aren't perfect either, but with such high-scoring offenses, you are almost guaranteed the first team with the ball to win the game in overtime.
Oh well. Colts vs. Saints.
