I have been itching to work on another arrangement for what feels like an eternity, thankfully now that I'm finishing up with Uni I've finally had the time!
Here's an orchestral arrangement of the opening music to Undertale; Once Upon a Time.
The samples used are predominately from Spitfire's BBCSO, as well as Heavyocity's Forzo for brass, VI Labs Ravenscroft 275 Piano, Spitfire LABS music box, and for percussion I used a mix of Albion One and HZ Percussion.
I'd love to know what you think and of course any critique is always welcome

Sounds fabulous! A really unique take on probably my favorite Zelda track
Are the vocals around the 1:10 mark sampled or recorded?

Hey guys! Here's the most recent orchestration I've just uploaded of the main theme from 'The Legend of Zelda'. I absolutely love this music by Koji Kondo which, in my opinion, is one of the most iconic themes in the history of the gaming industry.
Hope you enjoy!

Hey guys, just finished another Pokemon arrangement, this time of the Gym leader/Elite 4 battle music. I hope you enjoy and any critique is always hugely helpful!

Ruby and Sapphire seemed to think more horns were better XD
But jokes aside, I liked the mix. The percussion was pretty on point with level wise. The only big I think I have is when the cymbal is played multiple times in a row, it wounds completely the same. Which, it probably is, but in a live performance would sound somewhat different each time. But really, that's a small thing.
Also, end credits "Originally", oops. XD
Again, I really liked it. Bit low end a bit heavy, but who doesn't like some extra bass
(I don't compose orchestra music myself, so if any of this seems off then just take away what makes sense for you!)
That's interesting with regard to the cymbals. It is in fact different samples for each hit but maybe I could have exaggerated it with the velocity control.
Lol, I didn't clock the spelling mistake xD

Ah, this has always been such a fun and energetic piece! I think you captured the bounciness and movement very well. You've done great work here!
I feel like your lead instruments could use some extra oomph, though. They can feel underpowered at times, especially your horns when they carry the melody.
However I'm still pretty new to all this, so that could just be me!Yeah, listening back I would agree. I'll need to make the melody lines much clearer in my future mixes. Thanks!

Hey everyone! This is my most recent arrangement I have just finished of Pokemon GSC/HGSS's SS Aqua theme. This is one of my favourites from Johto and it was really fun doing this one. I hope you enjoy, and any critique you might have, I'd love to hear it!

Hey guys! Here's my most recent arrangement of the Viridian Forest theme from Pokemon Red and Blue. I took quite a lot of liberties with this track and I'm curious to see what you think.
Here's a link to the origional:

Hey guys, this is my most recent arrangement that I have just uploaded of 'Mall Rat' from the original 'The Sims', released in February 2000. This is my favourite of the tracks from the game and it was a treat to work with. I hope you enjoy and any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

Don't really know how to describe it. There is something with the groove. The 1:35 - 2:15. Might be me, but I find it a little bit vague. I know it's 16th suffle, but it doesn't really come out like that. Same at 3:25 - 3:55. I like the sound, though the strings have a lot of reverb on them. Might make them pop out a little bit more by cutting on that, Though I know Pokemon games have that kind of sounds in their games.
Last tip: Don't call it critique, but feedback. Gives it a more positive spin, even though you mean the same.(Sorry, teacher-thing ;P...)Great job man!
Thanks for taking the time to write up some feedback for me, really appreciated. This was probably the hardest track I've had to transcribe so far. Being a classical cellist and not a jazz musician, there were a few places where I was so nearly there with rythms but just a wee tad off, especially in some of the piano parts. I've found working on this track incredibly helpful though, my brother studies a lot of jazz and was able to clear up some of the confusion for me too.
Also, me personally, I don't mind the word 'critique', but it just depends on the context, like most words I guess

Hi.
I like it. It's beautiful.
I don't know if you wanted that but at the begining, there's a little delay between the string tremolo and the muted brass. It's strange
I listened at 1:20 a sort of loop on the tremolo. Perhaps you can fix it?
At 2:05, the short flute note seems no natural
In the middle, I'm not sure but I didn't heard Reeds. Perhaps, It'll give some thickness (it's the word in french sorry if you don't understand).
At 3:30 i'm not a fan of picolo.
There's a clip at 3:50
Personally, I like percussion like Timbal roll or Taiko. Perhaps, it'll be fine in your piece.
(It's my humble opinion)
Thank you, that is really helpful feedback!
Yeah, it's weird how some of my brass samples sound late, it's not just the muted brass samples, there's a few other ones that are the same. I'll take another look at it and see if there is anything I can do to fix it, I may need to just make the brass a micro second earlier.
As for the Flute at 2:05, I'll test out other patches and see if something fits better
Yeah, in the middle section the brass completely overpower the woodwind, I'll fix the levels to make them a bit more prominent, or at least so that you can hear them
Haha, the piccolo is like marmite, you either love it or hate it... my brother can't stand the instrument
And thanks for pointing out the tiny pop at 3:54, that is something that definitely needs fixing

So this is a piece I've written for a game I'm currently scoring for. I decided to title it 'New Horizons' in honour of the recent mission to Pluto, which also ties into one of the game's themes, Space.

I hope you enjoy, and any critique is greatly appreciated!

It's a really interesting concept, even if I don't get involved myself I am looking forward to hearing the end results

Oh you should definitely give the origional a listen, probably my favourite track from the 3rd gen of Pokemon. I'm not sure about oboe at the start, if I was going to replace the solo violin with a woodwind instrument I'd probably go with clarinet or flute, but that is just personal taste And don't worry about your english, I understood you perfectly
-
Thank you! It means a lot
-
Yes, I'd definitely recommend it! And thanks very much

Changed my mind on what track to remix, I'll be doing the route 216 theme from pokemon DPPt
-
I didn't try that, I'll test it. I work with kontakt and Albion and I never had this problem. I have 16G Ram.
It may also not be your ram that is the problem but it could be the processor or even your sound card, you definitely need an asio driver of some sort to run any east west sample libraries.
As for a comparison between Hollywood Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra:
Woodwind samples are much better, you get a really nice sound from all of the woodwind samples in hollywood orchestral woodwinds, however I will say that symphonic orchestra's woodwind samples are still of fantastic quality.
Hollywood brass is amazing, in my opinion it blows the brass samples in symphonic orchestra out of the water, even if you don't invest in the full hollywood orchestra series, get this one
I don't have hollywood percussion sadly, however symphonic orchestra's percussion samples are still fantastic for my uses.
Now for hollywood strings, I use hollywood strings alongside symphonic orchestras strings samples. One thing that is a let down with hollywood strings is the lack of solo instruments which are in fact included in Symphonic orchestra. Strings samples are always the hardest to get realism from, and while hollywood strings can sound incredible, it takes a lot of work to get the right sound from it.
-
I'm really looking forward to this, usually I'll just remix whatever I feel like and whenever. It's good to have something to work towards
-
The woodwind samples are from East West's Hollywood Orchestral Woodwinds, the others are from Hollywood brass and strings and some from symphonic orchestra. I would definitely recommend looking into them, the quality of the samples is fantastic!

This is an arrangement I did a couple of months ago of the Silph Co theme from Pokemon Red and Blue. This is one of my favourite themes from the games and I had wanted to do it for ages

Shame I only just found the site, I would have loved to have taken part in this project. Satoru Iwata had such a massive influence on many of the games we all cherished in our childhood, making a tribute album of game music he had a major role in is a wonderful idea and I can't wait to hear the work you guy's have put in to it

Hey guy's! I am new to the site and I would love to have some feedback on my arrangements Here's the most recent track I have uploaded, I hope you enjoy, thanks!

Thanks! Yeah I decided to got for a more dynamic mix, I think I was taking about 3dB off on both the master compression and limiter. I was originally compressing it a fair bit more, both in mix and master, but I felt it was too squashed and pulled it back.
