  1. One thing I can say I liked tho' was seeing the woman using a lighter instead of a flashlight. That was one thing that got me, every main character (except Henry) had a pocket flashlight and a pocket on their chest to put it in.

About the lighter, did you notice that what was happening in the trailer is the exact same thing that happened to Harry during the first part of SH1? It's where he sees shadows of his daughter running into an alleyway. He follows the shadow and is led into the alley, where it starts getting dark; at that point he has no flashlight, and has to use the lighter. Then he stumbles upon the corpse tied up to the fence, and after looking at it, is attacked from behind by those mumbler things: the trailer breaks this up, but any time you see her with a lighter chances are it's going to be THAT section.

Believe it or not, I forgot about that part. Whoops.

  2. I can't post in this thread anymore with out feeling stupid because of everyone making these huge posts with theories, points and such. All I can really do is comment on the trailer (which I got from Amaterasu's link).

Whoever said that it looks too bright wasn't too off. Compared to the game, yeah it is alittle bright. However, it'd probably be unreasonable to keep things that dark or foggy. To me, it felt like it was straying away some from the SH roots when the woman was using a cell phone and there was more than three people in one place.

Well anyway, that's all I got I guess...

  3. Well, I managed to do one. This is what I got done for Batsu.

    Batsu

    Capcom

    1997, 1998, 2001

    ocr4_mascot134.jpg

    Character Summary:

Batsu (Voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama whom is famous for his role as Adult Link's voice in Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time along with several other characters in different Figthing Games) is the lead character of the Rival Schools games. His mother, whom worked at Taiyo High as a clerk was kidnapped when Justice High's students attacked Taiyo High. This was Batsu's motive for transferring to Taiyo High at the begining of the game's story.

In Project Justice (Moero! Justice Gakuen in Japan), Batsu's pride was shattered when he loses a fight and he runs off to soclusion. After several weeks of intense training in the mountians he hid in, he comes back to Taiyo High in time to save his friends from an assasin named Kurow.

Aside from his main roles in those games, Batsu (along with fellow classmate Hinata) also made an appearance in Capcom vs SNK 2 as back up for his classmate Kyosuke in his Super Move "Final Symphony Remix". Another notable appearance was in the card game by SNK, SNK vs Capcom: Card Battle.

Rival Schools and Project Justice has created a small fanbase in the U.S., which results in a comic book series by Udon (the same guys that make the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers comics) which should be released sometime in January 2006.

    NEOGEO POCKET

SNK vs Capcom Card Battle (2000?)

    PLAYSTATION 2

    Capcom vs SNK 2 (2001)

So, how'd I do? I tried to keep it simple.

EDIT: I fixed the sentences about Batsu's mother.

    EDIT 2: Added another source.

  4. Ah, it's been awhile since I've posted here.

Since we're into quotes right now, guess I'll bring up the discussion between Ol' Jimbo and Fat Eddie in the prison.

I was rather interested in seeing Eddie starting to fall a part at that point. Finally admitting he's killing people but still making excuses for it.

On a different topic, I find it abit odd that James' Voice Actor (Guy Cihi) is a president (or whatever) of some kind of investiments company in Japan. Ifirit pointed it out to me once, blew my mind... sort of.

  5. I don't think you guys mentioned it, but I found a mix (well not really) of Room of Angel by Knick Knack (Ya know, the girl that did Chibi Silent Hill 2 comic?).

All it really is, is her playing the piano and singing. But the thing is, she sings very well. Aside from that, she put in radio static, for added SH effect I guess.

If anyone's interest, I'll pass it to Ifirit to host it (since I have nowhere to put it).

  6. SH2's water ending just said "Way to go! YOU SUCK" Striving to succeed only to fail is not something I enjoy paying $20-$50 for.

Do you know how you got that ending?

I thought it had to do with examining the knife too much and looking at certain things.

Looking at the knife alot was part of it. The reason you got the ending was because you had James deplict characteristics that would lead to suicide. Like keeping your health low for long periods of time.

EDIT: UE, ouch. I sort of agree but damn that was harsh.

  7. on another note, can anyone direct me to a site with some Silent Hill art, preferably good art?

Hah! Insubstantial! I've never seen any good SH art, online that is. I guess I can whip together some fan art for the hell of it.

There's some deccent-good SH fan art on Deviant Art. I'd post them, but I'll be damned, I can't remember where I put them...

  8. My friend brought up a very interesting thing for you all to think about.

If Video Games eventually moved to Virtual Reality-esque type stuff, would you play a Silent Hill game in that way? :D

I don't know about you, but being in the third person and actually being there are two different things..

    MAkes you think.

I would still play. However, expecting creepy stuff and not expecting it makes all the difference.

  9. Who's dairy was that on the roof anyway? Not James' was it? It would fit him tho', since he's wacko enough to... you know... put up a mental block that he SMOTHERED his wife with a pillow three weeks before visiting Silent Hill.

Personally, I played SH2 right after SH1. Beliving it'd be like the first, I was in for a surprise. I didn't actually start predicting or make theories until Maria got killed in the hospital. However, I didn't think James' really did kill his wife, I thought he just didn't love her or was cheating on her.

Speaking of SH2, I got a copy of it for the PC, now I can see the UFO ending. I played through "Born from a Wish" and trying to figure it out. Sure, I get that Ernest was trying to bring his daughter back to life with that ritual, however, I don't get why he never appeared on screen. I figure he's like Maria, just doesn't have a body. I'll have to play it again.

Some of this stuff can be simplified, but then some of the meaning gets lost, I know that... That's why it's so hard to make your own Silent Hill story. If your not careful, it'll end up like that Teenager-badasses B-Movie material, Dying Inside. I've been working on my own with Ifrit's help, but it's alot of work and effort.

Anyway, on lighter notes; someone posted these on DA.

I found them fairly accurate. I hope you have fun with them as well.

  10. Is everyone blind? The No Escape guy ripped off Spawn. The comic Book demon guy... Todd McFarlane created him... No one else noticed that? The thing with the Axe and the chains?

Other than that I liked it....

No, no one is blind. I'm sure we noticed that the one monster looked like Spawn. However, there's probably a reason why it looks that way and you're probably the only one to be pissed about it.

  11. Having completed it three times over, I present questions that Silent Hill 4 left unanswered (spoilers ho!)

    1) Why didn't Sullivan kill Henry when he had the chance? Henry wakes up in the ER and Sullivan is attacking a nurse...why didn't Sullivan kill Henry? He'd already completed the other sacriments so it doesn't really make any sense. It could be because Eileen hadn't died like the others, but that raises the question of why does Sullivan attack you in the field rather than eileen?

    2) Continuing the questionning of the ER...why doesn't sullivan follow you out of it and why isn't he in there when you go back in?

    3) Why does Eileen act like a child when she gets beaten up? I dunno if anybody has ever let her get damaged a lot, but she will often cry for mommy and daddy or whine "Im scawed". She'll also start hitting herself sometimes.

There were more, but I forgot them.

    1) I betting Walter didn't know Henry was there until he got off the ground was watching him.

    2) Why he doesn't follow you out, I'm not sure. However, why he's not there when you go back in; he does have the ability to teleport (as seen in the last fight)

    3) I've heard this alot, Eileen seems to only get worse in condition and act child-like when you're not using the candles in the room to ward of the hauntings.

I've gone through the game twice, first time she hardly ever got touched and she was in bad shape and acting like a kid. I also didn't use the candles like I was supposed to.

Second time through tho, Eileen took tons of hits and I kept up on keeping the Room clear. Eileen was fine.

  12. Instrument, how is your fan work going? My offer to help still stands. I've had a few ideas here and there. I also have some small materials available for you to review. PM me when you get the chance. I might not get to it immediately, but I'll answer as promptly as I can.

My work is gonning slowly, but it's coming together as I think about it. I'm trying to treat it like a game concept rather than a comic. I'll PM you about it.

As for what you said about the 'rules' of the characters, I believe too that it feels like they're all following a list of characteristics. If my memory serves correctly; they never really spoke unless spoken to. Unless it was a small comment like Henry and "What....the hell?"

That's all I got at the moment, too busy trying other things.

  13. this is funny. I just got done writing some stuff down for my little pisser SH story I'm working on and came to Gen. Disc. to see this thread on the 1st page. Then, prompting my clicking on this thread, Promise (SH2 ending song) came on Winamp (which is on shuffle). I'm not shitting you.

Anyway, I figured Ever Anime was a bootleg company, most of the OSTs I buy look like they're bootleg and they either have SM or Ever Anime on the package somewhere.

Oh, btw Ifirit- the dude at No Escape took what you said in here about his story and posted it on his Forums:

    http://forums.rateofinjury.com/viewtopic.php?t=78.

  14. Um, just to let ya know; Part 3 of No Escape is avalible for download.

As for my input on No Escape; for being a peice of fan work, it's alright. However, I get the feeling the main character knows more than he should in the begining... but it's still early to say anything like that.

Also, I'm gonna have to agree with with the vulgar Cat Frog of Justice. The Stereotype of a female horror survivor is rather annoying. It's not like Harry got away with the cliche "Surviving with young child and female romantic interest" in every ending (except one).

  15. Nice, but you should really learn some graphic program skills, if only to CG up your lines a little.

Of course you could leave the lines un-CGed and it will still look nice as long as it isn't too messy, but one thing that really needs to go is that crayon coloring. Either leave it B/W, learn some CG skills, or use some other analog method. :P

Ah, and use a better font, Times New Roman is good for some things, but not for comics. :)

Something a little smoother would do.

Despite all that, I still look forward to your future works.

Actually I used colored pencils, and I agree, color is not my strong suit. If I were to go through with this, it'd be all in B&W.

Here's the Black and White sketch: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/16880673/

The text was Tahoma, not Times New Roman. I though it looked alright for what it was being used for.

I'll eventually learn CG, but it'll take awhile... I'm rather slow at technology.
