  1. the movement that starts at about 1:38 sounds very Andy Summers/Police-esque... interesting stuff... I was gonna remix this song, and probabally end up with something in this vein... guess ill have to find something else.... neat little diddy... maybe this one shoulda been called "Fight 'Em All!" in reference to its early Metallica sound...

    muy bueno!

  2. I guess im the first person to say something bad about this mix...

The guitars could have been mixed better... No doubt that there is skill there, and the composition itself is good, but the rhythm guitar is all midrange, and it lacks the low end that you need for the style your representing. I can hear some palm muting being attempted, but the effect falls short because of the lack of low end... also me thinks the drums are lacking... it seems like this mix should be set at a higher tempo given its genre...and i think more time should have been spent on the drum programming...

but flaws aside, there is some great musicianship going on here.

  3. Goat, I have to seriously congratulate you on this. Castlevania has, let's face it, crappy music. Somehow, you managed to create a piece based off of a Castlevania theme and make it good enough for me, who is pretty tanj picky about his music, download it. Good job.

I don't know what Castlevanias you are playing...

Good stuff indeed... kinda reminds me of the Megaman 2 remix Mattias Holmgren did... wish he would submit some other stuff...

    I'm Jealous

  4. listening....

do i maybe detect a bit of NIN in the first section?? this remix almost sounds like it would be at home in a castlevania game... very savy.... ooo a key change.... this sounds like some band... i cant think of who.... maybe a little marilyn manson? nice and funky... good sounding samples all around

    very plesant.... :nicework:

  5. i gotta say that for the most part, this one didnt really float my boat... i did like the guitar synth thing that appeared about half way through...

i personally dont care to much for hip hop, unless a FULL drum kit is utilized, with fills & stuff, then it can be pretty cool, but when its just a looped beat with little variance, i tend to loose interest...

... that said, this was still a very well done piece...

but i think the biggest downfall is the original composition itself, because it dosent have much in the way of overall song structure (this is evident from vic viper's remix of the same song)...

my personal tastes weigh more towards vic's remix...

  6. WOW. 11/10. The ULTIMATE Remix. It doesn't get any better than this from what I've heard. Anyone trying to remix this song now should just stop. Now. You have no chance of doing better than this.

P.S. What was that weird noise in the background during certain parts of the song? I'm not referring to the voices or any of the electronic stuff.

P.S.S- Was that guy talking about acid reflux? Me confused.

    exceeeelllent... more kind words...

acid reflux?? naw... actually thats a quote from alien 3... after ripley gives a description of the alien... and the noise you speak of, which you probaball heard under that quote right?? im not sure exactly how nate made that noise, but it was with some fruity loops plug-in, and i think basically it took a noise and stretched it out, and such... err i dunno... but the desired effect was that it was to sound like a digerie-doo...

  7. it had occured to me that the "DJ jimmy the leaf" sotn remix didnt sound like anything from the game (and i have the soundtrack)....

anyway about this one...very cool i though... the recording quality to me suggests a nice analog warmth... and the little bit of distortion on the piano reminds me of something kinda... maybe a midi keyboard... kinda brings me back to the days of doom.... for some reason... very talented dude.....

my group has a SOTN remix comming up semi soon (teaser teaser!)... hope it sounds as acomplished as this one.....

  8. well technically its not cel shading in the video game sense... but the term was coined long ago, before video game cel shading was started (circa the release of akira), to describe anime style graphics, where solid colors are used to shade instead of varying tones of black or whatever, so in that sense, its cel shading sorta. atleast it sounds better than "polygonal geisha"

  9. this sounds like something that capcom would have professionally done... i havent played mega man 2 in ages, so i dont remember the music all that well, but i still recognize some parts of this song. this guy makes me jealous as far as guitar playing goes... ... i dont know if i coulda executed that solo quite as well as he did, so i commend him. much props to you man... what kinda guitar do you use?

  10. ya know, i think that DJP could be considered the Moby of overclocked remix... and before you flame me for that statement, it has nothing to do with similarity between styles, but more that ive noticed djp's stuff has a very old school/analog feel to it...like moby.... and i think its pretty damn cool. this particular one is pretty groovy, and the lead line towards the begining is pretty sitar sounding, which i dig. you'll get no complaints here.

  11. i thought id comment on this song since i was involved with the making of it. i realize that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and believe me i can take criticism of any kind well.

first off on the issue of the samples... yeah i know that they coulda been clearer, but for the ones of the game we had to record them on a 4 track first, (an analog one mind you) and then transfer them onto computer, so the sound quality as im sure you can imagine was less desirable than we wanted. we also deliberated for days on how to process the samples so that they could be heard properly, because with all the bass, it kinda drowned out the samples at their regular tone and volume. personally i wasnt real crazy about the flanger, but we didn't have many options that sounded good and had clarity.

if you've heard the original, you know that its basically drum sequences, with little real music, so we had to come up with some new melodies for the bass to still keep interest, while still making it sound like the original...

plus, the guitar and bass are live, and they are a bitch to master, and still make them sound good. but we try, and are learning new things about it with each mix.

ok just thought id throw these things out there.... i cant wait to read what yall think of the song

  12. Oh also, on Mime+Limits for FF7, you can't do that on the original version, only the cheap $20 green edged version...why I don't know, but I didn't make it.

thats not true, it works on mine (which is an original), infact thats how i beat the boss battle in the battle arena. I used cloud and did omnislash, and then mimed it for every round after the first time i used it. your not talking about one character miming anothers limit are you, cause i know i couldnt do that.
