I, too, think this is a pretty good mix, but I do have a question.
Is it just me, or is anyone else getting a bit of a garbled section around 1:19 in this mix? (The garbling I speak of sounds like someone was recording this off an audio tape and accidentally hit the fast-forward button for about a second or so.)
I'm going to try downloading it from a different mirror to see if that fixes the problem - the copy I have is from ocrmirror.org, so it might just be a bad upload to that mirror.
EDIT: Just finished downloading it from the iiens.net mirror, and the same garbling is present in that copy too.

Wow. Just . . . . WOW. This actually sounds like something that'd be used in a modern remake of Raptor.
If I were you, I'd submit it. I think it's worthy of being on OCR (but then again, it's also music from a game I particularly like, so I might just be a teeny bit biased there ).
(By the by, Fireslash - that pulsing sound is from the end-of-level boss encounters: I think it was supposed to be a cross between a "Hey, here comes the big badass" warning and the sound their engines/generators/etc. make.)
-
Uh, DJP . . . where are you getting 9 minutes from? The copy I have is about 3:41, and it's a variable-bitrate MP3 of about 4.3 MB.

It's been a while since I last played Homeworld, but I gotta say I like this remix.
I can almost see the Hiigaran fleet soaring through space to engage enemy forces and then returning to their home base (on board the various carriers and the Mothership) after a successful mission.

A couple years ago I was trying to get all the old cool games that I used to love. I grabbed Tyrian2000, Whackey Racers? I think. And Scorthed Earth; which is the best.
If it's the game I'm thinking of - where you pick a go-kart-driving animal and drive around a bunch'a different tracks hurling hedgehogs and other such things at your opponents - the game's called Wacky Wheels.
(Which could possibly use a little remixing, I suppose . . . )
-
. . . For some reason, the files won't download for me.
They spend around 5-10 seconds "Starting", and then, abruptly they're done - and yet the downloaded files have a size of 0KB.
O.o WTF?
-
I hereby declare it an international crime against humanity that those remixes won't be included in the project. Time to take this to The Hague.
I concur, and am willing to testify.
(Even though I don't know jack about the situation!)
-
Same thing happened here. And I didn't even get the notification of the new message until today . . . O.o
-
It's been done, just not here. Don't remember who did it though. Some semi-famous rockband I think.
I'm pretty sure it was Megadeth that did it, for some compilation or other.
-
Well I didn't say it was the intro, thats just something you're assuming. I'll make it work
Well, it certainly *feels* like an intro, chief.
But that's just the feel I get off it, taken out of context.
-
This is a truly great introduction... Keep it!!!
You're right, it is a good intro. Problem is, I get the feeling that the first clip and this intro are two different styles that might not work well together.
I could be wrong, tho.
-
Judging by that clip, Rayza, I'd say that this is gonna be a shoo-in.
By the way, I replayed Tyrian recently, and this is the music that's used in the last level of Episode 1 *up to* the encounter with the final boss of Episode 1. Once you hit the boss, it changes to a tune called "One Mustn't Fall".
(Which, incidentally, is one of two OMF references in the game. The other is in one of the datacubes - a message from one of your old friends who, unfortunately, is unable to assist you "since your battle is with spaceships and not HARs".)
-
You're not alone, Cain.
I'd like to see more C&C remixage too. (Particularly of tracks like 'Mechanical Man' and 'Radio'.)
. . . In your name, of course!
-
Personally, I think this is a pretty good mix as it stands. There are a few parts where it could use a little tweaking - for example, the part where the second set of hrns comes in around 2:35 - but overall it's a very nice mix.
(And I'm glad to see that SOMEONE's doing more Raptor mixes! This game deserves remixage.)
Only one other quibble about the mix, really - are you sure that you're using just the Wave 6 music?
I swear I can hear fragments from another piece in there (it sounds to me like the stuff from Wave 1 - either that or the "you've been shot down, game over" music).
-
I'd love to see some remixes done from this game, particularly the opening theme for the first episode. (I always found that one a bit creepy, tbh, and I'd appreciate it if that creepiness could be kept - providing, of course, someone actually does decide to remix that track.)
I've only been able to find one working archive - World of Game MIDs - that has music from the series, though, and they've only got the music from episodes 1 and 3.
I don't know if the tracks ever had names, I'm afraid, but I do know which one the main theme from Episode 1 of Dare to Dream is: the third MIDI in this archive.
-
Ditto. While the Composition in Q remix is good, there are a lot of rockin' tracks in Tyrian that deserve remixage.
(And I'd love to hear someone do a remix of BEER - the track used for the Zinglon's Ale minigame )
-
Joker, I actually came up with a similar DQD design for some of my early cover-art work.
-
UPDATE:
TO, new cover-art concept. I may be abandoning the first two in favor of this one. I've PMed you a link, so please tell me what you think of same compared to earlier concepts when you get a chance.
-
TO, I PMed you with updatage on the status of the album art so far.
Hope you like.
-
I have decided to donate my enthusiasm to the project. Also, I can draw stuff.
That reminds me, I've got three cover-art roughs ready, with a couple more in progress.
I should have all the stuff prepped for uploading by Thursday.
-
Righto, TO. I'll sign up as soon as I can.
(Apologies for not responding earlier, but my 'Net's been on the fritz lately.)
-
All right, cool.
I've got a couple preliminary label designs for Delta-Q-Delta - they've got a sort of embossed-metal look to 'em.
Should I link them here, or sign up over at Douliffe's fora?
-
My question is, do you guys have anyone down for album art?
I have some limited skill, so if you want I'd be willing to come up with a few roughs for use as a basis for final album-art designs.
(Also, I've created CD-label layouts inspired by the album art that Claude and Mr. Firecracker did for Dark Side of Phobos, if anyone's interested.)
