At least two years ago I posted a work in progress on a Brinstair Red remix. Unfortunately, soon after posting my computer harddrive crashed and I lost all my work. I decided I wanted to try for a different direction with the remix and started over.
One day I'll be competent in dubstep production and I'll finally be able to finish this remix.
-
That was a highly intriguing mix. Kept my attention for a while, and that's getting harder and harder to do nowadays.
Also, very cheddar-y at the beginning.
-
This remix rips from Electric Eye. Go and listen.
-
Ooh, I'm keeping my eye on this one!
-
... as awesome as this mix is, I just can't shake the feeling that in looking for filler to make it your own, you ripped a piece from Judas Priest's
. Go to 2:06, and compare it to this song at 4:03. -
I am IN! Woo!
-
Yeah, this was posted a day early... that makes YOU the fool here.
-
It doesn't really sound that much different to me. Other than an apparent fart noise where I'm sure you meant to have a low note.
-
Song has been updated. I've tried to follow the advice I've been given, but I must admit I'm still a beginner when it comes to compression levels and such.
I know I still have a ton of work to do on it, and wouldn't dream of submitting the song in such a state. It's why I said I wanted to submit it to the site eventually.
-
I would eventually like to submit this in review to this site, for a chance to get it accepted. This is a remix of 'Brinstair Red' from Super Metroid.

Every 4th measure there's this odd squeak noise that I keep hearing. It's annoying.
But other than the squeak, it's very good.
-
No, the panning wasn't supposed to be that hard at all. Something else I guess I need to look in to. I may have done that on accident or as an experiment and never readjusted it before saving.
-
There's a little bit too much noise in here too. I don't know if that is purposeful or accidental. Clarify?
This is my fault. I'm still a beginner with the program I'm using, so I don't know much about mastering or adjusting noise/EQ levels. Once I get a handle on that (as well as extending the song and doing something about the other points you mentioned), I'll post another WIP link.

I've been working on this for a few hours every night for the past week or so. I know it needs a lot of work, but I figured I could post it here and get some feedback on what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong, and whether or not it has potential.

I haven't heard this mix until just now. I kinda wish I didn't listen to it. It's not the vulgarity of the track that I mind. It's the fact that the lyrics are just so... corny. The majority of the lines feel forced and fake, as if they're just there to take up space and provide a rhyme for a previous line.
If the sole purpose of the song was to make the audience laugh, the song failed in that respect. If the sole purpose was to offend quite a few people, then judging by the rest of this thread, the song fulfilled its purpose.
-
It's repetitive and catchy and silly and trying to make out the lyrics makes my head hurt. Awesome.
EDIT: Also, I would have loved to hear a second verse.
-
As far as production goes (where you're talking about reverb and decay and delay and all that nice stuff) I'll see if I can figure that out. I'm still pretty new to all this music making and I'm not quite sure how to speak the lingo.
Chord transitions and pitch swapping I know, I'll give that a try.
Yes, I'm looking to extend the mix quite a bit, just looking for suggestions on what to add.
-
Honestly, I don't know what else to do with this other than add an intro and (possibly) think about lyrics. Suggestions are very very welcome.
-
Both of those are exactly what I wanted to do. Thank you so much.

I use FL Studio 9, and I want to make an instrument fade, but I haven't been able to find a tutorial to do that. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?
Also, I'd like to be able to make a single channel swap from the left speaker to the right speaker without sounding like I manually changed the sides, if that makes any sense (I'm not good with the technical terms). Is there a way to do this?
-
It's got a real... I dunno... Spyro-ish sound to it? It reminds me of the music in the first Spyro game. It's pretty good.
-
This is one of those songs I can put on loop and listen to all day and not get sick of it.
Epic, truly epic.

That's an interesting sound. It's been a while since this site's had a Halo submission. Can't wait to hear the finishes product.

I actually liked Shadow too... I just tended to play it without grabbing any weapons.
