  1. This is great work DJP. The production quality really stands out from the crowd, and the arrangement is excellent. More importantly, I believe you truly captured the essence of the original Twoson song. My only complaint is that the ending was slightly too short/abrupt. Thanks again for all the work you've done for this community.

ditto to everything there. short ending, but otherwise amazing. I usually don't enjoy Earthboudn remixes, because the origional is almost always better and more emotionally stimulating. This is definitely a keeper though.

  2. That stupid bat from Wizards and Warrioirs 1. I could take him half the time if I had all the best equipment and stuff, but if you died, you came back right before him with just the basic stuff and NO WAY OF GOING BACK! Oh how I hate that bat...

  3. Simply doing this piece in a single instrument takes something away from it. I remember beating the game several times over and over, just to hear this song . I think it honestly needs to be orchestral, otherwise it just loses the magic.

I guess I really have no right to complain though, making a ReMix (Although this is closer to an arrangment) doesn't take away from the origional. If it weren't for the fact that I'm already deep within remixing another song I'd jump at a follow up to this, but would probably still fall short of the origional. Some songs just can't be done much better than when they were on the SNES. (*couch* Magus theme *cough*).

  4. I'm going to come off as a jerk here, so I appologize before hand. First off, the arangment is wonderful. It is very proffesionally done. This of course leaves the main focus of the song, the vocals. It's fairly obvious that you touched up the voice for the refrain and the constant echo effect is nice too. Of course these are all effects and not aspects of the voice itself.

It would appear you have a bit of trouble holding a specific pitch without a bit of vibrato comming through. I think the minor echo does very well to cover this up though. Also you appear to have less than perfect diction, but this could be a side effect of your very supressive dynamics, which would allow the accustics to overpower your voice to at times make the end of your words seem unneseserrily lagato.

This lagato is of course is not helped by the echo effect and I'm by no means saying you have a terrible voice. I'm just saying that your musical tallents have allowed you to overcomming any shortcommings your voice has by masking them and allowing a rendition of the song that allows for a much more vocal / instrumental ballance rather than having one aspect simply supply support.

Overall it is a very well done remix, and with your voice fits perfectly with this song when done the way you executed it. I'm just trying to provide an objective opinion, as I feel that's what anyone would want in a review; honesty.

  5. Typically whenever I listen to a Zeal remix I start thinking to myself, "Why has nobody ever remixed the Magus battle music?" Rarely does a zeal remix appeal to me enough to keep from falling into the repedative trap of giving away the entire melody right away and then simply becomming redundant afterwards.

"Time Chill" was a pleasant diviation from the norm as it wasn't unnessesarily short to compensate for a lack of music and to avoid the above mentioned problem. It rather stretched the theme out to just over 3 minutes while still managing to not only keep my attention but struck me as origional and novel (A difficult thing to do with a song that has been remixed so often).

The strengths lie in mv's ability to use fight the common use of techno as a mainstay, but instead use synthetic sounds for an atmospheric effect that provided the background for the string, organ and sax leads that will often provide their own harmony intermingled with their own rendition of the main melody.

A wonderful job and my favorite version of this tune so far.
