  1. I thought the movie was very well done.

Saying that though I had a really hard time connecting with the protagonist, He was just too much of a narcissistic jerk for me to really care about him. I really didn't feel apart of the action and wasn't really pulling for anyone. In a similar vein I thought the whole "The human race is just a gigantic pile of douche bags" thing was layered on a little thick, it was too obvious that they where trying to get you to side with the prawns over the human race. That and a review in the globe and mail totally gave away like 1/2 of the story line which was kinda gay.

But like I said it wasn't a bad movie by any stretch, and I can see how most people would love this movie.

  2. I was wrong about this movie. It was not Star Trek 90210. It was Star Trek: The Michael Bay Edition, and the part of me that really enjoys that kind of mindless action flick was satisfied. Problem is if it did not have the Star Trek label on it, nobody would care much about yet another retelling of Generic SciFi Action Movie #2, complete with product placement and revenge-bent villain, because this was pretty much forgettable and unremarkable in every way.

Mmm I spose there are some spoilers here

I felt the complete opposite, I just about didn't go because Star Trek has never held my interest, and I really haven't liked anything prior to this movie that involved Star Trek. A Generic SciFi Action movie probably would have been better suited to a guy like me.

Saying that I thought the movie was pretty descent. The massive plot holes/ stupid Deus Ex Machina ( Kirk not only lands on the same planet as old Spock but also near him runs into the same cave while being chased by a monster AND ends up finding scotty who is the only person in the world who would be able to beam him up to the Enterrprise was a little to much chance for me and was pretty much destined for the Meh pile but Simon Pegg single handedly upgraded the movie to a pretty good.

I've got a question because I haven't watched alot of Star Trek. Was this the start of the Tv series,Comics, etc.? or was this a parralel dimension that got started from the time warp that actually doesn't have anything to do with the original stuff (quite simply I'm asking if Captain Kirk's dad was alive/ The Vulcan homeplanet destroyed in the original series?) because if this was set in a parallel dimension to the actual cannon, it was a brilliant way t have a Star Trek Brand label without having to stick too closely to cannon and not anger true fans. (Something that say the Wolverine movie could have benefitted from because of it's lack of any resemblance to any events that happened in the comics)

Also did anyone else think that once Spock took the ship contained all the Red Matter the movie was pretty much over because Nero wouldn't have been able to blow up earth anyways even if the drill did get to the center of the earth.

  3. Hey I was wondering if anybody could do me a favour, a while ago I rented Tales of Vesperia and me and my friends got fairly addicted to it (thus resulting in a prompt re-rental so we could finish it off), can anyone think of any other local multiplayer rpgs for the xbox 360 that are acctually half decent?

  4. Has anybody heard anything about Left 4 Dead? it's being made by Valve

4 player co-op Zombie survival game... I don't really know how this escaped my radar because I love Zombies and Co-op

Edit: On a side note Ninja Gaiden 2 is pretty fricken epic

  5. I rented it when it first came out near the launch of the 360 and I found it pretty fun. If you get it cheap enough why not (My friend took a chance on Project Slypheed simply because it was 10$ and because I told him I had read a lot of positive reviews from you guys and he loves it)

  6. Seeing how everyone Kinda covered the big guns

If your looking for some cheaper games I'd recommened picking up Dead Rising, Condemned (Haven't played #2 but heard that was pretty sexy) and even Viva Pinata if you can find it cheap

Edit: And if it's still free (I don't know if it is) download Aegis Wing it actually was pretty fun

  7. What I wonder most of all is if this film will go with the same ending as the original story.

I hated the ending in the original story

thought it ruined the entire book so I'd actually be happy with a change

Speaking of change It looks like the only thing that hasn't changed is the fact that there was a virus and that it turned people into vampires

  8. Actually I don't think SSM has a very widespread appeal. Brawl will be a great game of course, but I don't foresee anyone who's not really a Nintendo fan buying a Wii or anything for it. A lot more people have played Halo 2 than Melee, and I don't think Brawl will change that trend, awesome as it may be.

    I actually agree

I love the SSB series but I don't really see how it could be a bigger entertainment hit then the 7th book of Harry Potter like Halo 3 was

  9. It could just be like what the PSX was for the PS2 - an entertainment version.

Yeah I only read the first page but It sounds just like an Xbox360 with a built in HDDVD Player, I know my friend wanted that quite badly so if it was that this wouldn't be a stupid move

on a side note the First page made it sound like the PS3 was dominating the Gaming Console market

Xbox that will incorporate not only a new HD DVD drive but a large hard drive and new entertainment software that is a spin off from its struggling media centre offering.
  10. So I Found out about the cut scene after the credits

I don't know Why I was so stupid not to watch that

that makes the ending way cooler.

I unno I Know it was short but I think I liked this campaign better then the other two

it was perfect difficulty on legendary that it was challenging but definetly do able

  11. Beat it yesterday

Played the first level with 2 other friends on legendary and found it WAY to easy

So I played from level 2 on by myself and it was a great experience I think I did it in like 9-10 hours

Although everyone likes the ending I have to say I really wasn't a big fan of it

And yeah the story was a little confusing but I think I basically got it all

  12. My friend actually I bought the game and I've basically been watching him play

Slight spoilers but it was in the demo and it's really just speculation

1.) In the diary of the Mclintok girl when she's drinking and then all of a sudden people come in and start shooting and then she gets shot...if you listen hard enough you can hear one of the people in the background yell LONG LIVE ATLAS!

And then also in an announcement Atlas' fighters are quickly mentioned

  13. Wow I was completely blown away from the demo

I've been keeping tabs on it since it first got released and I was decently impressed but never as hyped as I am now for it

The graphics looked unbelievable...I thought it was cool when you where going down underwater and you see the whale in the city

on a side note though did anyone else get scared from the beginning like 30 seconds? I thought the whole airplane scene graphics really where not up to par and it really only started to look good when you surfaced out of the water

  14. We actually got some elites shipped to BC actually

My friend just went out and bought one....it's sexy

I finally got my Xbox360 back a few days and man in 6 months I'd forgotten how much I missed that thing

  15. I gotta say I'm actually starting to get excited for Halo 3

The demo was pretty good....and knowning bungie I have a hard time believing their just going to release a sugar coated Halo 2.5

  16. I'm really glad for the 3 year warrenty extension

this means that I should get my 170$ Back =D

Edit: Do I actually have to contact a microsoft rep. or will I just get a check mailed to me?

  17. I don't think you do get a fresh warranty for refurbs, unless they've changed that policy due to complaints.

Maybe it's different up here in ye old Canada but they told me I get a fresh new one year warranty maybe cause mine had already run out?

  18. yeah mine broke about 6 months ago around 3 weeks after warranty ran out so I finally got around to calling them and its only costing 170 Canadian to get it fixed which isn't bad considering how much it was supposed to cost to repair my old ps2 a few years back

Theirs good and bad to it though the bad is that it's refurbished which I Guess isn't that bad

The good news is a get a fresh one year warranty

  19. This post will probably contain some spoilers

    I actually liked this movie

They did deviate a little but you know I really didn't mind the tag team part, or anything like that.

I would have liked it if the symbiote was more attached then just a different kind of suit. I was a big fan of the cartoons more then the comics but in the cartoons the suit becomes a part of him not.

I also thought that parker became to emo to fast, all of a sudden the symbiote had taken control of his mind and he was evil there was no slow decline

A little more time on venom really would have been nice, I think that they could have expanded the Sandman/Goblin fights for a long time and then end the movie with the suit dripping on Eddie Brock which would set up a perfect Number 4

Yeah those where my major beefs, overall I still actually really enjoyed myself and pretty much everyone in my theatre did to. Was I the only one who laughed at Toby's hair flip?

  20. I'm surprised to see Crackdown get a lot of rave reviews. It really did seem to me like it'd be the leadup to Halo 3 like everyone predicted.

Although I have to say the whole Halo 3 Beta thing is marketing genius, I know of at least one guy who is buying the game simply for the Beta, and if it's a good game it's just bonus.
