  1. Ok, I realize this is ocremix, but trust me, if I could post this over at vgmix I'd have done it.

As you can probably tell, I'm trying to register over at vgmix.com. Unfortunately, no matter which name I type into the "User Name" box in the Registering screen, it's in use. Now, I'm not whining that someone took my name or whatever, I mean EVERYTHING I type in doesn't work. I've even tried Supercalifragile. Either someone is screwed up enough to actually use that as a name, or vgmix just doesn't want me on the site. Any thoughts on what's happening here?

    Any feedback is much appreciated!

  2. Alriiight, thanks for your reply. Everything you said has been taken into account and a new version should be uploaded shortly. (For some reason, my render time on FLStudio 7 has gone from a couple minutes to 3 hours or so)

The synth I used to take the lead up an octave is not, by any means, the final one. It is just there to show that the idea is taking shape. But I'm not quite sure if i like it or not...

And since I hate sending people to the top to get the link again, here it is:

  3. So...I haven't touched FLStudio to make a remix in quite a while. So I'm deciding to pick it up again and redo a remix I submitted a long time ago.

This is a remix of the ending theme of Mario Kart 64. I did it in a very pop-ish style, something Mariah Carey would sing over.

The main complaints the judges had was that the intro was too soft, it was too short to say what it had to say and everything was covered in reverb. So here it is, completely remastered and extended.

    Known issues:

-Too much high end, needs to be toned down a bit

-The ending is a bit bare as far as composition goes

-Very little amounts of clipping throughout the piece

Any comments are extremely appreciated, and thank you for venturing into my thread. ^_^

  4. It's been a while since I've been on this forum...but the LOD name caught my eye. Let's see what we have here...

I love the concept and the blend, but I don't like the triplets on the string pad at all. To me, it just doesn't flow well that way.

With the bell melody, I like the way it is, but maybe later on if you double it with a different sound to bring it out more, it'd flow better.

I do not like the synths at 1:30. The first one is too clunky and hollow, and the other is too brassy (is it a synth brass pad?)...and doesn't flow.

All in all you need to create a more soundscape-y atmosphere. Add more low pads, more rich mids too around the 1:30 mark to add more interest. Maybe through in some ethnic percussion to keep it flowing.

It also seemed to stay pretty close to the original..which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but maybe if you add your own counterpoint with some other synths it would retain interest better, too. (not saying it's boring, but it stays around the same level for pretty much the whole song).

    Good Luck! ^_^
