  1. Where's the melodyyyyyy? =( /whines But seriously...lack of melody makes me sad. I love chords as much as the next guy, but without a melody its just background.
  2. Sounds good to me, I'm working on something for the Credits theme. Yea, Xenon, I thought the same thing lol. Regardless, this sounds like fun.
  3. It's a soundfont with alot of thought and sequencing lol. It's called "Thrash Blues Guitar" and has been sitting in my collection gathering dust until now. IT's really useful, and superb if you adjust it just right (and dont go to fast...one of my mistakes lol). Thanks =)
  4. Lol I used FL Studio myself...Sorry if anything I said was taken negatively...
  5. Great entries all around this week, as most people said, placing was very tough. I actually changed my first place vote a couple times before settling (on a deviation from the norm, no less). Man do I feel like I stick out in the crowd o.0. It does feel good to be back, doesn't it Prophecy? lol congrats dude.
  6. Wow...people are coming back from way back when. Edit: Also, I've been thinking about this for days...gotta love the melody overlap with this. http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00597/
  7. Little more than a day left! Two mixes aren't enough!
  8. I'm not sure if anyone's suggested it yet, but Tales from the Abyss is an amazing PS2 game. It's very much an RPG, but the battle system makes the entire game. http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/talesoftheabyss/index.html
  9. Haha, well then, I guess that's why I've been having problems...
  10. Ok, I realize this is ocremix, but trust me, if I could post this over at vgmix I'd have done it. As you can probably tell, I'm trying to register over at vgmix.com. Unfortunately, no matter which name I type into the "User Name" box in the Registering screen, it's in use. Now, I'm not whining that someone took my name or whatever, I mean EVERYTHING I type in doesn't work. I've even tried Supercalifragile. Either someone is screwed up enough to actually use that as a name, or vgmix just doesn't want me on the site. Any thoughts on what's happening here? Any feedback is much appreciated!
  11. I hope I count as an old face, though I was never very active lol...I have about half a song done, hopefully I'll be finished by the deadline. Easy source, IMO.
  12. Ohhh man...so much room to breathe in this competition. Expect an entry.
  13. I really have to check this more often...I'm pissed. This was a really great source tune...although nobody would like my rendition, as always haha. =p
  14. Uh....there isn't much of a melody here. I guess that can be a plus when doing your own interpretation, but it kinda seems limiting too...ah, we'll see if I have anything by then end of this.
  15. You can send me a PM too, if you need any more help.
  16. I sent a submission to doulifee at his email address yesterday under my new name, JayLuv. I'm having login problems at the moment...so I'm just posting to say I did something. http://tindeck.com/audio/my/gvwk/Overdriven-On
  17. Alriiight, thanks for your reply. Everything you said has been taken into account and a new version should be uploaded shortly. (For some reason, my render time on FLStudio 7 has gone from a couple minutes to 3 hours or so) The synth I used to take the lead up an octave is not, by any means, the final one. It is just there to show that the idea is taking shape. But I'm not quite sure if i like it or not... And since I hate sending people to the top to get the link again, here it is: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=648944
  18. So...I haven't touched FLStudio to make a remix in quite a while. So I'm deciding to pick it up again and redo a remix I submitted a long time ago. This is a remix of the ending theme of Mario Kart 64. I did it in a very pop-ish style, something Mariah Carey would sing over. The main complaints the judges had was that the intro was too soft, it was too short to say what it had to say and everything was covered in reverb. So here it is, completely remastered and extended. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=648944 (Sweet Taste of Victory). Known issues: -Too much high end, needs to be toned down a bit -The ending is a bit bare as far as composition goes -Very little amounts of clipping throughout the piece Source: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/n64/endtheme.mid or http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/n64/index-gr.html (Scroll down to Ending Credits (2)) Any comments are extremely appreciated, and thank you for venturing into my thread.
  19. Just to point this out -- Different sf2 files, VSTs, and synth presets all have different sounds. Sometimes you have to tweak the settings yourself, or you can just try a whole mess of different sounds to get the specific sound you really want.
  20. If you used a better hosting site, you might get more replies. But I love RHCP, so I'll it a listen... Wow...this is pretty damn close. I'm very impressed with the sound quality. You should record the harmony though. That just adds to the song. Good job though.
  21. Why don't they just shock everyone and release a couple games in the old 2D style?
  22. It's been a while since I've been on this forum...but the LOD name caught my eye. Let's see what we have here... I love the concept and the blend, but I don't like the triplets on the string pad at all. To me, it just doesn't flow well that way. With the bell melody, I like the way it is, but maybe later on if you double it with a different sound to bring it out more, it'd flow better. I do not like the synths at 1:30. The first one is too clunky and hollow, and the other is too brassy (is it a synth brass pad?)...and doesn't flow. All in all you need to create a more soundscape-y atmosphere. Add more low pads, more rich mids too around the 1:30 mark to add more interest. Maybe through in some ethnic percussion to keep it flowing. It also seemed to stay pretty close to the original..which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but maybe if you add your own counterpoint with some other synths it would retain interest better, too. (not saying it's boring, but it stays around the same level for pretty much the whole song). Good Luck!
