Well, I've done some research into the repeated VGF failures over the past months, and I think I've pinned it down to Larry's laptop repair technician:
-
Hard luck, fivre. It runs too high for dial-up. (Ask Suzu all about it.) If I remember correctly from RealPlayer, it's about 200 kbps or so.
EDIT: While I'm posting...
<Liontamer> Actually, the only reason I egged him [D-Lux, on VGM Friday night] on to play T-Disco, was because he wouldn't

"Toyota Disco"
original song "Toyota" by Isamu Ohira (Gran Turismo OST)
lyrics written/performed by Larry Oji (Liontamer)
Lyrics be edited by Larry for completeness! (Nice job on these!)
(spoken)
Yeah, you know, I be groovin' with the Toyota,
Toyota.
(sung)
Drivin' in a Toyota,
Oh, that rhymes with Yoda.
Toyota car, I be drivin'.
Toyota car, I be drivin'.
BOOM... cha cha cha,
ZOOM... cha cha cha,
MEW... cha cha cha,
VROOM... cha cha cha.
You press the gears on down,
And the car be movin' around.
You be ridin' dat car;
And you go far.
Yeah, Toyota!
Ooh, matza-mata-Toyota,
Woona-mana-mana-na-Toyota,
Ma-<unintelligible attempt to sound Asian>.
(spoken)
I'm driving in a Toyota,
Toyota... jrb... what's a Toyota car?
Toyota... Celica...
Toyota... da-uhh...
I'm in a Toyota 4x4, and I, f...
Damn, I'm drivin' over the mountains and shit.
Yeah. Yeah!
(sung)
Drivin' a Toyota!
Vroom vroom, I be drivin' a Toyota!
Aaaaaaah, doo doo doo doo doo doo da doo.
I be drivin' Gran Turismo style;
I be drivin' for a mile!
Whoa, whoa whoa whoa.
Whoo-hoo-hoo
Gran Turismo,
You be drivin' that car.
Gran Turismo,
You be a star.
Mmm... chh chh chh,
Oom... chh chh chh,
Boom... chh chh chh,
Oom... chh chh,
Ooh... chh chh chh,
Ohh... chh chh,
Umm... cha cha cha,
Ahh... cha cha.
Ha cha cha cha cha cha cha cha.
Ha ha... <unintelligible guttural and screeching noises>.
Drivin' a car,
... and, then, something...
Let's eat some stuff,
And uh, something...
(spoken)
Let's do a Terra mix in the middle of the song!
(sung?)
<worst rendition of Terra imaginable>
Woo... chh chh,
Ooh... wah wah,
Ooh... vroom vroom,
Ooooooh.
... doo doo doo,
That make me drivin' in dat car,
And I be... doo doo doo doo,
Doo doo wah doo doo...
(spoken)
Oh, I, *ahem*, *ahem*, vroom, vroom vroom vroom, all right, uh,
It's time to take the keys out of the ignition on that one.
Oh my God, <gibberish>.
All right, let's go for the fade out, man,
Let's go for the real classy fade out,
Yeah, I'm tellin' you man, ooh.
(sung)
Yeah, Toyota.
Uhh, Toyota.
Ooh, wasabi.
<unintelligible rodent noises>

Toyota Disco?
Yep.
Pigskin Power LIVE?
Hell yeah.
Best aftershow ever, at least within the past week?
Damn fuckin' straight.
-
Larry only played Pigskin Power twice. That does not please EA.
And you know what happens when EA is not happy. They dig up... things from the past. Things that should not be uncovered.
Things like http://www.angelfire.com/ga4/queencaramella/.
(conveniently mirrored without pop-up ads at http://chz.fourx.org/ocr/queencaramella/)

Whoa, she's in the forums now? Larry better hope that Bladiator never finds out...
-
Perhaps run the event in tandem, so there's backup in case one of the forums is down? Nobody really needs to see other peoples votes, but they could if they wanted to.
I don't know about doing that every week (might be a bit of a hassle... not sure), but running SoTW in tandem across a few forums while GFF is down might let you reach new audiences who'll follow you back once GFF comes back on-line. Just a thought.
-
Hey, since the Gamingforce Forums are down, Song of the Week is also in hiatus. If those forums are still down by next Monday, I'll just have to hold the Nominating/Voting here at OCReMix instead (not to the disappointment of anyone here ).
Any idea about what happened to them? I originally thought that my school had mysteriously blocked the server (a similar thing happened a few months ago with Urban Dictionary... it just stopped working on campus but not for everyone else), but it turned out that it wasn't working for anyone else either.

VGF's cancelled for now, with hopefully a makeup coming late during the week, perhaps Friday.
Since D-Lux is still locked out of his account, I suppose it falls to me to express frothing outrage at your choice of day for a make-up show.
*ahem*
You know that's when VGM is, you silly.
-
"Oh, please don't fire me, Mr. Lloyd. I promise to be a good token judge."
-
15 frames of hawtness?
-
Then I'll have more opportunities to call Larry a high-class Latin pimp.
(still no dancing... sorry)
-
Please tell me one of those .gifs will be of him djp'ing. I don't mean peeing because he's the disc jockey. I mean the djp. And if you have a shot of him going crazy because we called him nonstop for about 20 minutes, that'd be great too.
I don't think I have any of him DJPing, sorry. I do have several pictures of him going apeshit during that last call before djp, though. I can whip those up into an animated GIF too after I'm done with the dancing one. In the meanwhile, Larry would like to bring you this very important message:
-
Just so y'all know, I'm curently making a dancing Larry animated GIF with shots from the video stream. I still have some frames to trim and then I need to figure out an order, but here's a teaser demo:
(256 colors sux)
-
Good job with the show tonight. You still have a ways to go to break Steve's record of seven and a half hours, but if djp's phone hadn't died, who knows.
-
So I'm gonna co-host with my girlfriend, Paige. Yeah, that Paige. And we're gonna have a Valentine's Day style theme with various VGM & remixes and etc. This is either the best idea I've ever had or the worst.
It's pretty obvious why the stream failed. Not enough shirt action.

Wow, I thought for sure you were going to open up season 4 with Shael's bumper, not mine. His does have a bit more of the constant RoFL factor, although I suppose I had the advantage of making a bumper that only works in the beginning while his can fit anywhere. Honorific.
Oh, and speaking of RoFL...
-
Certainly looking for bumpers to open up season 4 with.
I need to re-record a couple spots in my WIP bumper... again... but I should have it done on Wednesday or Thursday if you need it for something.
Of course, there is my Purple Monkey Dishwasher bumper. That's ready to go any time.

Stay tuned in #vgf for the next exciting edition of Pimp Corner, with your host, Bladiator.
Stealin' white women from black men since 2004.
I'm totally screenshoting this and burning it to an archive CD for all time. EDIT: Also, a little love for Larry in my new sig. Thanks to TO for the work, and to CHz for the awesome "B Unit" name.
I was trying to find a show "logo," so I image-searched Google for "pimp corner." Nothing good on that subject popped up, but I did notice the "B Unit" picture. The link was broken, so it's very good that Google caches images (albeit thumbnails), because the appropriateness of that image was way too spooky to pass up.

Apparently, John Burgoyne was a British general during the Revolutionary War. In fact, he was the commander of the forces that surrendered to the Americans in the Battle of Saratoga, widely considered to be the turning point of the War. In addition, he wrote several plays (his most popular one being the comedy The Heiress) and fathered four illegitimate children with the opera singer Susan Caulfield.
Of course, none of that has anything whatsoever to do with anything in the Shael bumper, but since it doesn't make sense anyway, "Music of My John Burgoyne" sounds like a fine name. *squeakie*
-
That was, without a doubt, the best VGF ever. Larry should break his computer at least once a month so we can do more crappy request and listen to more crappy OCRejects.
*goes back to idling*
Edit: Oh, and sorry about annoying the living hell out of you with song requests during the show.

This isn't your everyday mix. This probably isn't something that most people would listen to on a regular basis. In fact, this probably shouldn't be something to listen to on a regular basis as any other song. It needs to be experienced and appreciated for what it is.
But what, exactly, is it? Is it a protest against lush orchestration? An experimental take on an unrepresented soundtrack? A statement of variety from a heretofore focuser on rap and such? A questioning of the very foundation of music itself?
Naw. In the words of soc (who, coincidentally, had his first remix posted a few days before), it's just really "freakin retarded."
Beginning with the charming sound of construction workers hitting pipes and various other objects with wrenches, this mix quickly drags you into its world of literally industrial music, whether you want to go or not.
Like strange synths? Pitch bends? Quotations of the Prelude for no apparent reason? Jean Corso? In the words of Larry, HEGOTCHUCOVARD.
Oh, and I forgot the fake-out ending from 2:30-2:46. Might seem really cliche, but in context with the factory sounds, it just works. Mechanical seals = win.
And so, in conclusion, Mythril should get drunk more often.
EDIT: It was Jean Corso in French Kiss, not Jean Reno. Shame shame, Mythril.
