Beatdrop
Well, it's been about three months since I submitted this, and I PMed djp about it (although he may have just missed the PM or something), but I figured it was high time I gave you all a chance to judge ME. So, here's my remix of Sandopolis Zone from Sonic & Knuckles. Enjoy
Disco Dan
Ya know... there might have been a reason he didn't reply to you. But I'll give it a listen. Can't be any worse than that Difficult To Stand piece a while back.... D
Protricity
This song is pretty simplistic. It has nice synth effects, but much of the notation follows no key wahtsoever, such as 2:34. Secondly, much of the drums/melody repeat. I do like the tempo increase though. Frankly, I kinda expect better from bd at this point. Try more cool beats, cool melody, cool styles, anything... Malcos
Hey you can't do a fallthrough for yourself! I love the beats and bass, maybe you could have speeded up the melody to fit inside the beat instead of slowing it down, as it looses its urgency. Then again, if you were going for the ironically laid back feel (I always gotta run through this stage quick, the ghosts!) then it works great. YES (Although I know you can kick more arse than this!) Israfel
hehe- this is pretty cool. An empty, yet effective arrangement with some really unique ideas. Nice fresh sound. Good work. YES
m68030
While i'm not overly thrilled with the mix as a whole, it does have a rather nice 'complete' sound to it. Like Ari said, it's pretty simplistic, but I think that in that, it still sounds pretty good as a goofy little electronic track. Obviously nothing terribly groundbreaking here, but it's still a solid little track from something we don't hear too terribly a lot of. Not one of my favorites, but still decent enough for a YES
Vig
okay. i'm gonna sit my lazy ass down and judge this for Dain. the groove is very smooth. i like it. i'm not a huge fan of the lead patch starting around 1:00. it is a naked melody, no hamony. i have many of the same complaints that protricity does. it can be overly simplistic. on the other hand, i dont think this mix would sound right if it was too much more busy than it already is. I really really really like the tempo/feel changes. this mix has excellent dynamics, which is something i dont hear often enough in the mixes on the judging board. This isnt my favorite mix, but the quality is definately there. I'm going to give it a YES because we just dont hear mixes with such interesting dynamics nearly often enough. many remixers could learn a thing or two about dynamics from listening to this mix. nice work.
