Name of individual song(s) arranged: Practice race: Level 1

Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind

it, how it was made, etc.: Marble madness race 1 is one of the most

minimalistic pieces of video game composition ever, so i just wanted to have fun with it, playing around with everything from big, strong violin crescendos to a didgeridoo baseline.

Not really a developed enough idea. Once you heard the didgeridoo and string combination at :16, it got beat into the ground by the end of the track. The flimsy drum kit introduced at :37 wasn't particularly interesting and didn't mesh with the other instrumentation. The performance on the lead string at 2:07 was too rough and exposed.

Decent concept and a fun theme, but you've gotta flesh this one out and develop the ideas into a longer, more varied arrangement.

Sounds like you had fun putting this together, but it also sounds very quickly done. Everything in this is a loop, and the song is basically just you moving those loops in and out. It's way too static. Transitions are practically nonexistent, even when you switch instruments completely. To your credit, the textures are unique and interesting and I think you did a decent job with the arrangement of such a minimal song.

If you can do some major rewriting, fleshing out the parts to more than simple loops, this could have a place at OCR.

Interesting concept for sure. It does however lack in execution.

There are just a few ideas for each instrument and they're all repeated, a lot. While it is a very minimal source like you said that doesn't mean you can get away with a minimal arrangement :) The instrument choices were interesting but weren't handled very well. They give an interesting vibe but when left alone (like during the intro) they just sound flimsy.

Production isn't stellar either. Most textures sound thin and samples, as I noted, weren't handled very well. Levels where however balanced so you're going in the right direction here!

In the end, this piece just isn't developed enough and suffers from a few problems. It would probably take a lot of rewriting to get this past the bar but if you're up for it, go wild! :)
